I own both the 32 and 48 oz versions of this and I love having it. Very easy to clean/sterilize and the screw top is very secure. The top itself is so secure that it takes a little effort to unscrew if you do it too tight but even a modest tightening leaves it secure enough that you need not worry about spilling. The plastic connector that keeps the top on is a nice addition which also provides a loop to hold the bottle from though I wouldnt hook it to a carabiner and go walking with it as I suspect it might grow weak after a few months usage. The price is amazing, the look is fantastic, why use anything else. My co-worker says that made in the usa is also a +10 for this product and I reasonably agree. I used to take 1-liter bottles of water to work as we didnt have access to clean water without $$. 15-bottles at 6.2~ from costco poland spring at 1 or 2 a day (5 d/w, 12 m/y) is anywhere between $6-18 p/m depending on frequency. The 48-ounce silo is about 1.5 liter and if you use that (which is like 12$ on amazon) you save the $6-18 after a month or two. Even if you need to replace it due to an accident/loss whatever, you save money.

Ive been using Nalgene waterbottles since I was sixteen in the scouts. I fell in love with their relability, durability, leak proof lids, and the measurements on the side making it easy to use for water purification, cooking, and electrolyte drink mixes. The nalgene bottle can handle being frozen, and it can handle hot drinks too without leeching chemicals. I make tea in mine occasionally. You typically need to stand still to drink from it cuz it splashes a bit if you arent careful, but I recently discovered that you can get a little inner piece that will make it a narrower spout without having to sacrifice the wide mouth. My workplace requires see through waterbottles so the coloration of these bottles are perfect as well. A lot of people complain about the bottle smelling with nalgenes. The secret to not having a smelly nalgene is to wash it every single day without fail, paying close attention to the edges where your lips touch the theads, and dont just top up day old water with fresh water. Just make that part of your routine. Even if you only have water in it it will still start smelling because moist places is where bacteria will grow, and the source of bacteria is your lips and mouth. If you wash it every single day, which most sources recommend you do with any waterbottle, then youll be fine. Clean water is incredibly important and contaminating your drinking source by not washing the threads where the cap screws on and the inside is a good way to get yourself sick. The reason why I favor the wide mouth version because its much easier to clean.

Everywhere I look, someone is boasting about the popular classic 32 oz. Nalgene bottles. So I figured it was time for me to get one. I ordered the 32 oz. wide mouth in grey/black lid. PROS: + The bottle feels very nice in hand. + Cap has defined ridges on it for a positive grip when opening or closing. + I am not terribly rough with it so I cant say for durability for drops and falls. I imagine that at some point if I were careless enough I could break it but the material feels like thick quality plastic that I cant flex. Its very firm. + I havent run it through a dishwasher yet but cleaning by hand is a breeze because of the wide mouth. + Last but not least, it holds liquids well. CONS: None at the moment. Next I will get the same bottle but with the smaller opening. No fault of Nalgene but sometimes I dont want to feel like I am drinking from a bucket with the wide mouth opening. But this is a preference thing. I am definitely glad that I got one of these bottles finally to see why it is so popular. It holds the perfect amount of water for a lengthy car ride or a small exploratory hike. Definitely a good purchase. Was this review helpful? Please let me know. Thank you. EDIT on 5/23/19: So I have been using this bottle for a bit now and I do enjoy it. Recently, I made a major mistake. I filled the bottle all of the way up and capped it and then wanted to give it a cold shot so I put it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Well, I had gotten side tracked and left it in the freezer for over 24 hours. I didnt leave room for expansion during the freezing process. I didnt know what I would find.... I took it out and I noticed that it was bulging at the bottom. So basically when I stand it up, it teeters and rolls around and easily wants to tip over. I just left it out to acclimate and I was shocked that within 15 minutes as the ice began to melt, the bottom looked normal again. It is still thawing out but it stands up flat again and seems fine. Hopefully no permanent damage was done (i.e.- more fragile against a drop or fall) Gotta say that I was expecting to have to order another but Ill just hang on to this one for a while longer.

Stopped using my old Nalgene because of the BPA issues.....and thought Id find something better.....wrong. Tough bottle, simple twist to the left, glug glug, twist to the right to close - and done. I carried my old Nalgene with me through countless miles of backpacking, canoeing, sports, and other uses. It somehow never got lost. Expect this new Nalgene will be with me a really long time.

I carry this every day. This is the best water bottle that I have ever used. It has never leaked and I recommend this to everyone that asks about it for that reason. I am considering purchasing another as a back up. My Fiancee even bought one since I liked mine so much. She bought a smaller one that she can throw in her purse (it also has never leaked in her purse). Function: It serves its intended purpose. It holds water, and it holds it very well. It has never leaked on me. It does sweat, but I expected that. Due to my heavy use of it some of the lettering is coming off, although it is still legible. The stripped texture on the lid is very conductive to grip for tightening or removal. It is easier to wash than many bottles I have. I do have trouble fitting it into some cup holders, but I knew it was a larger bottle. Quality: It feels sturdy and looks sturdy. I have dropped it a few times in the house and on tile with no resulting cracks or marks. I have never dropped it on concrete though. I carry this bottle by the strap that holds the cap on. A few people have mentioned that it broke on them. I have not experienced this. I have clipped it up in my range bag before and it has held up well. The only thing that I want to get to complete this is some sort of insulated carrier for it. Nalgene has some proprietary ones and there are a few universal ones that I am looking into.

This is my favorite water bottle on the planet. It’s the perfect every day bottle. No it’s not insulated, but for everyday use, you can’t beat it, especially when you have quick access to cold water all day at work like I do. It holds a lot of liquid without being too big and bulky unlike most other options on the market. I prefer the hard plastic as opposed to metal so that you don’t hear me clinking and clunking all day. Comes in a boat load of colors and sizes. I personally prefer the wide-mouth and don’t believe the splash guard is necessary because I never drink it as if I was stranded in the desert dying of thirst, but if you want it- it’s there , along with other accessories like cap options. The best thing is the price. I paid just over 10 bucks for this high quality bottle. Other water bottles are just too expensive these days. Just buy this and be done. It just flat out does the job and stands the test of time.

I have had this for about a month now. I bought the Nalgene water bottle for my job as a package handler because standard 16 oz water bottles just dont cut it. This lasts me nearly all day for my 6 hour shift. The wide mouth of the bottle is perfect for filling with ice. The printed graduations on mine are a little bit scuffed up from frequent use but they remain readable enough. For the last few days, I have been attaching carabiner clips to the little stem that connects the cap to the bottle so I can carry it on my belt loop. Im a bit nervous that it will eventually tear off but so far it works fine. I bought it with the guyot splashguard, which is a nice accessory because it helps keep the ice inside the bottle while drinking. That said, it wouldnt kill you if you decided to save your 5 bucks. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bottle condensates. I hadnt really thought of it when I purchased it but it doesnt bother me or disrupt my work so its not a con personally, but it may be a con for other people. Overall, this is pretty nice. The original. The trailblazer. The Sir Edmund of water bottles. If you’re looking for a water bottle that will keep you well hydrated, hold up against bangs, bumps, and drops, and not leak a single drop ever, then the iconic 32-ounce wide mouth is your water bottle. There’s a reason why we haven’t changed its design in decades—because it works (extremely well).
