> 3 dayThis is the third different make of scanner I have purchased and for the purpose of records keeping it is the best. It is fairly accurate in reading and placement of my required data. Since I have had it 2-weeks, there have been several updates and improvements in the operations that you can choose to do. I would recommend this to any Mac person who wishes to be able to quickly log and retrieve information from their documents or receipts.

> 3 dayIt does the job, I wish I had a more permanent office so I could have gone with the desktop version, because I dont like having to feed each piece of paper individually. It makes my end of month duties much easier and quicker so I do enjoy that. The neat software isnt the easiest to figure out right away which I would like to see changed, but like all software, it will see updates.

> 3 dayThis scanner has made submitting receipts and expense reports much easier. I work for an overseas company, and am required to turn in monthly receipts. I was always putting it off, because it was such a chore to find the receipts, put them chronological in order, and then tape them to paper. On top of that I was creating expense reports in word documents- it was just a big hassle. With Neat Receipts I simply scan whatever receipts I have whenever I think about it- and the program that comes with the scanner saves them in an inbox. When I am ready to submit them to my company, its very easy to sort them by date and create an expense report. The expense report includes images of the receipts and then an itemized listing of whats there. I email the whole thing to my company. Where I was once spending several hours I am now only spending A FEW MINUTES! But the scanner and program could definitely use some improvements. For one, I wish I didnt have to restart my computer to get it to recognize the scanner- I wish I could plug it in and it would be ready to go. And while the software program is certainly fine- there are a lot of things that would make it great. For one, you cant choose which data fields show up in your expense report. This means a lot of data fields are included which I dont need and have left intentionally blank. It also means that the report cuts off some of the data fields I wish to include (specifically notes about each receipt- they are cut off from view half the time, but other fields which I left blank are still there, visible.) Luckily, my company doesnt mind so much what my expense reports look like, but if this program were great, I could tailor the expense reports to fit my needs. As it stands now every expense report is the same and you cant edit it. All in all I am very happy with it- I love not having to tape and staple physical receipts anymore!

> 3 dayAfter various attempts to tame the mounds of paper that threaten to engulf my office, this package has the best chance. The scanner is a thing of beauty in itself. The software is very, very stable (Readiris take note) very cocoa yummy, mac OSX friendly. There is a capability to produce SEARCHABLE standalone OCR/image pdfs independent OR file within the neat office ecosystem, which is excellently designed, and probably the best way to manage receipts. In truth, the OCR is only about as good as anyone elses, so that means that receipt or business card scanning still requires quite a lot of hands on manipulation. That said, its stable (did I mention that?), the data management is elegant, receipt scanning/analysis is still reasonably efficient, and Ive been able to pressgang my 12YO into handling it.. in lieu of her running wild with my itunes account. Neat appear to have a commitment to upgrading the software - my WISHLIST for future development includes: Evernote integration (Im sure they are working this as I write) Batch applicable editing (eg Tags, categorization etc Tonal adjustment of scans (to reduce background noise and cruft) TWAIN for third party image photoshoppery (assuming this doesnt exist somewhere already) Generally smarter OCR. But all in all, this (after a seriously disappointing experience with IRiScan and Readiris), is the first practical solution Ive experienced. Incoming paperwork that might be needed is efficiently scanned, OCRd, and recycled.. (now coming to an egg carton near you). Neat is highly recommended.

Greater than one weekThis device is very easy to install, and works great right out of the box. Setup on my MacBook (late 2008 Aluminum) was easy and trouble-free. I like how compact the scanner is; and that it does not require any external power source. It fits nicely in my computer bag. I had no trouble scanning documents and receipts even the first time. Scan quality is very good. The included software is pretty easy to use... it does an OK job extracting information -- but you have to make sure you pick the right document type (there are only two) or it misses completely. I did NOT need to contact customer support, so i cannot comment on the quality of their service. Good news is, it worked fine right out of the box.

> 3 dayI really wanted to love this product. I have been seeing the ads in magazines for a while - the little white machine with orange advertising. I was sold. I finally ordered it one day and followed the instructions. Calibrated and then ran a test scan with a form I needed to scan. All I got was weird spots. Tried to calibrate and trouble shoot. But gave up. I am a Mac user and I am used to being able to troubleshoot things after 2-3 tries. I emailed customer support and I got no response. Was really hoping for it to be awesome. I have to say I am really sad. Worst - I dont even want to bother putting it back in the box and returning it to Amazon. Am I alone?

> 3 dayLike any portable scanner, you must carefully guide the paper through. But the software works fine and its convenient to use. Ive started using my full-size scanner more when there are lots of documents to scan but this is fine for casual on-the-go use.

> 3 dayHave used a neat receipt scanner for many years, and up until recently I would have given them 5 stars. Recently I updated my MacBook Pro to El Capitan, since then I will give Neat 2 stars. I would constantly have to unplug and reset, the scan would start and then stop saying that no paper is detected, it would take me 2-3 unplugs before the scanner would work and scan my document. Now I have purchased a MacBook Air. No luck at all with getting the scanner to work. Reinstalled the software to no success. What now takes them down to 1 star (zero if I could), is that they are forcing all of their customers to go to the cloud...of course this also takes a monthly subscription. Their big PLUS for this is that it will work with most other scanners, but I dont have another scanner and if I did I would be using their software. My recommendation would be to look for another

> 3 dayI was so excited about Neat Receipts when I got it. I scanned a bunch of items, and was thrilled to have such a small, portable scanner. However the scanner broke within 2 weeks of my using it. It now has black lines through every scan I make. Ive contacted customer support and they are not helpful. So I ended up returning it. Other issues: the report format is not customizeable so, while I was excited to use this for my expense reports for work, the software wont print or export the categories I need for my expense reports. The OCR capability is mediocre at best so at the end of the day, this just didnt live up to expectations.
