Great stuff. Smells good, protects, looks nice. I really like it. I put it on everything leather, from shoes and boots, knife handles, dog collars, etc. Ive even used it on wood. Word of warning: it can darken lighter brown leather quite a bit, so test it in an inconspicuous spot first and make sure you like the way it looks.

I have used all the old stuff like waterproof sprays, snowseal, and mink oil to name a few. Where I live in West Michigan we have Rainy months, freezing and thawing and this product is taking it all and is still protected. I use it on my vintage leather jackets and high end work boots. Very impressed !

I love this leather proofing wax! Ive used it for years on all my boots. I smear it on with my fingers, take a hair dryer to it and wala, leather boots are protected.

My red wing Pecos boots were killing my feet. Put this on them on a Thursday. Cleaned them well then oven at 200 degrees. 2 min on each side. It used almost all 4 oz on my boots. Friday was still rough but the set all weekend and now (Monday) they finally feel amazing! Great product

I used this on my boots and leather gloves. A piece of wool fleece mad applying easy.the leather darkens but that was not a problem for me. The gloves regained their suppleness and feel great.

This are the second pair I use this LP on, I just bought them and as soon got home I put the LP on. I did not took photos of my previous boots but this is how they change of colors, it does not bother me as they’re for work. I work as a pesticide applicator and whenever I’m not using my rubber boots I use this ones, so far the LP has helped to extend the life of the boot and makes them waterproof proof on a light rainy day. If you’re looking for suede, it does work on it but it will absorbe at least triple of what you use in regular leather. So keep that in mind. Will update in a couple of months again.

Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP

Industrial strength leather preservative (lp) was originally developed for protecting and waterproofing firefighters leather work boots. Heavy Duty LP is a leather conditioner made with our natural oil and beeswax formula. This unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula protects leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils in Heavy Duty LP are gradually released into the fibers as a long term lubrication. Heat and flexing cause oils to be released, oiling the leather when it needs it most, making this an excellent leather boot conditioner. Before application, a spot test is recommended because Heavy Duty LP will darken your leather and nubuck. Not recommended for Suede. Made in the USA.

Apply Heavy Duty LP to your:

  • Leather Work Boots
  • Saddle Bags and Chaps
  • Belts
  • Holsters
  • Sheathes
  • Baseball Gloves
  • And more!

Originally Developed for Firefighters

Heavy Duty LP

Over 30 years ago, an Idaho Wildland Firefighter developed this unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula to protect leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, ash, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils are gradually released into the fibers as a long-term lubrication. Heat or continued flexing causes oils to be released faster. Leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most; while on the job!

Recommended Application

At room temperature, apply by hand as body temperature helps melt LP into leather. Two applications last longer in wet conditions. For absorption, allow ten minutes or up to one hour between treatments. On smooth leather, buff off excess with a clean cloth. On nubuck, use a soft bristled brush. One ounce should provide one application to a pair of tall boots. Apply every 6 to 8 weeks or as needed.

Extensive Lab and Field Testing Compared Obenauf"s Against Other Products. Rated Superior and Proven to Resist:

  • Dynamic and Static Water Penetration
  • Scuffing and Abrasion
  • Manure Acid, Salt, Chemicals
  • Premature Cracking and Parching Due to Heat
  • Stitch Tear and Dry Rot
