> 24 hourThis is a pretty big bag and definately a lot more room than I needed. The Double straps are nice to have so you can carry it around on your back. Note that carrying this on your back feels a little awkward if you dont have much to put in it, needless to say this would be great if you are going on long trips.

> 24 hourThis bag is very sturdy and should last forever. The strut gong and metal hardware appear identical to my 30 year old military duffel (still going strong). A cheap way to get gear from one place to another without worrying about your bag falling apart. It’s ugly but well built.

> 24 hourIve used this consistently for about a year now. Its been through many airports and shows no sign of slowing down. I literally dont know how it will ever wear down. Im guessing I will be using this forever. Its huge.

> 24 hourGreat Bag! Used it for camping. Strapped it to my sissy bar using the back straps and adjustable bungie cords. I was able to fit the following: sleeping bag, Abel Brown tent, ENO DoubleNest Hammock, clothes, provisions and a few other unmentionables. Has great closure hardware for a top loading bag. Doubled as an excellent back rest for the ride as well. Also good for laundry and any other essential storage need. The back straps are handy, and although padded, could use just a tad more cushion. Either way, they serve their purpose well, and it’s still a comfortable carry.

> 24 hourHad a surplus one in college. Freaking great. Just used this one when I moved this past weekend. Held up great. Had one for all my blankets and the other for heavy water jugs. Just like I remembered. Plus who doesnt love backpack straps!

My Honest Opinion
> 24 hourI needed to buy 2 duffle bags for an upcoming trip. My first choice was an Army surplus bag, I could only find one new one. The second bag I bought, was a Rothco one They arrived the same day. Surprise, surprise, the Rothco bag is much better than the Army surplus. It is heavier material & all around tougher. I am very pleased with it. Had I known before, I would have gotten 2 of the Rothco bags.

> 24 hourIts huge, its durable, the backpack straps work well enough, and the fastening mechanism is easy, secure, and strong. One thing to note, while it isnt incredibly wide, it is very long. If you fill it up and wear it the top will loom out of your head a bit. Not an issue in my opinion. One final note: if you have someone do your laundry for you, you may want to convince you to subtract the weight of the bag; the heavy canvas and metal grommets may add a pound or two.

> 24 hourUPDATE 2: I bought a second one. Perfect for hauling lots of gear across a wide beach. Also good for traveling, as a pack/suitcase for large items. UPDATE: Im in the 2nd year with this bag now. It is holding up very well. I seriously overload this bag, and the shoulder/backpack straps show no sign of ripping or failing, etc. For the beach, it holds four large folding beach chairs, large umbrella, fishing net and two small shovels. amazing. end edit. This duffle bag is pretty awesome. It is exactly what I needed. I wanted a big bag for the beach, to carry two beach chairs, umbrella and maybe something else. It swallows all that stuff up perfectly. Best thing is that it has adjustable and padded backpack shoulder straps. It is very thick old fashioned heavy duty canvas, which is fine. Someone else mentioned that it didnt have a drawstring or any way to close the top, but it has a great system where you put the post up through the other holes and then the clip on a strap clips it all closed. It is obvious how that works once you have it and look at the photo provided here for the item. I anticipate using this bag when I next travel and need to bring bulky items. It is awesome.
