So my previous vacuum was a tiny dirt devil cordless handheld vacuum. It was bad, very bad. It barely could suck things up that were big or small and it was horrible for spot carpet cleaning. I have seborrheic dermatitis - if you dont know what that is, think dandruff, but its on other parts of your face, and the dandruff thats on your head is 10000x worse. My computer chair is on top of a short pile carpet that is 10+ years old. Normally simple vacuums should be able to grab whatevers in the carpet and suck it up, but if youve ever dealt with flakes from seborrheic dermatitis, they look practically INVISIBLE on certain colored carpets, and even on short pile carpets they sink into the bottom layer of the carpet. This is bad because it makes it very difficult to vacuum it up, and over time those flakes disintergrate into tiny dust particles, and guess what that is food for? You betcha, DUST MITES. I would ritualistically vacuum the area around my computer table but I knew I wasnt quite getting to what was the actual problem. At first I was going to get a cheapo $60 Eureka one that I saw online, but then I thought about it - why not just get something thats a little bit more expensive but not Dyson levels of expensive and is just as powerful? Thats where this came in. Assembly was straightforward, instructions were clear. Plastic felt a bit on the brittle side for everything, but that seems to be the general case for most modern products. Hooked everything together, turned on the vacuum and DANG it was strong. I had a hard time pulling the vacuum off the carpet. Fortunately, unlike some of these other reviewers *I read the instructions*. This happens on short pile rugs and carpets - this can be easily remedied by reducing the suction through the suction ring thats near the handle. Counter clockwise for less suction, clockwise for more. You will hear an air leaking sound - THIS IS NORMAL. This is a pretty cheap and easy way for the vacuum to reduce suction - and you dont have to adjust it too far - I would say a 1/6th turn was enough to reduce the suction so I could move it around comfortably without feeling like Im fighting with the vacuum. After I cleaned the area in question - the dust cup was already HALF FULL with dust. And it wasnt the typical dust youd see from the top layer of the carpet - this thing picked up what looked like extremely fine powdered sandy/colored stuff. It was obvious that it was the flakes that have dropped from my head that got pulled into the bottom layer of the carpet. Now Im sure a standard old school canister vacuum could do the same thing and my lack of experience with vacuums is just overplaying my experience, but as you can see from the other reviews here, people who have used other vacuums before can attest to the fact that this thing is *REALLY STRONG*. Bang for buck high power for its price. Also Amazon has a payment plan thing you can use which makes the bite required to buy this hurt less as well. Another thing the manual will warn you about - the vacuum is not stable upright - lean it against the wall or around items that can support just in case it tips over or find some straps to keep it secured against.

Ive only owned this for a day, so Ill update this review later if I need to. I did HOURS of research in my hunt for a good vacuum that could helps us manage my husbands asthma and severe allergy to dust mites. From what Ive learned, people with allergies and asthma need vacuums with (1) a certified HEPA filter (which ensures *clean* air gets circulated out of the vacuum, rather than air full of old dust particles) and (2) a super strong suction that can pick up lots of hair, dead skins cells, and all the microscopic dust mite bodies and poop (which is what triggers dust mite allergies). Vacuums with these features can be incredibly pricey, so while I was absolutely willing to pay more, I was hoping to find something that wouldnt break the bank, if possible. Throughout my research, this vacuum came up over and over again as highly rated for allergy and asthma control and seemed to be one of the more budget-friendly options. So far, this vacuum has absolutely delivered on the features I was looking for. First, as far as I can tell, the HEPA filter is working miracles. Prior to buying this vacuum, my husband would have a horrible asthma attack every single time we vacuumed. This is the first time in a long time that hes been able to vacuum HIMSELF (or even be in the house while I vacuumed) without struggling to breath afterwards. He didnt even sneeze once afterwards. So, for anyone with allergies, this is a must have! I should note that I did need to empty the canister halfway through vacuuming because the fill-line is fairly low. I believe thats necessary to ensure the filter doesnt get overwhelmed and continues to function properly, so emptying more often is worth it to me. However, if you have allergies and no one can empty the canister for you, I would suggest looking for a vacuum with a larger canister or requires less frequent dumping. Emptying the canister definitely wasnt an ordeal - it took me maybe three minutes - but I could imagine that being challenging if I had severe allergies myself. So do keep that in mind. The second thing of note is that this picked up ALL THE HAIR. Both my husband and I have long hair, and Id honestly just come to believe that finding hair everywhere, no matter how often you vacuumed, was just a fact of life. I was hoping that this vacuum would cut down on the amount of hair left behind in our carpets, but didnt have high expectations for its ability to remove the hair that was deeply enmeshed in our carpet. (We need to get rid of our carpet anyway, but I was looking for something to hold us over until we have time to replace the flooring.) But guys, this vacuum got rid of it ALL. I rand my hands across our carpet after vacuuming, trying to pick up or feel if any hair was left, and I kid you not there was NOT ONE HAIR left behind. I could have cried. Do be aware that you will need to cut the hair off the bottom of the vacuum afterward to ensure that the bristle feature doesnt get clogged. However, that was incredibly quick and easy to do and made no mess at all. I think this is a universal truth of vacuums, but if you hate this thought, perhaps look for a vacuum that doesnt roll up the hair on its brush. I will say that UNLIKE vacuums Ive had in the past, which had lots of debris, fluff, and gunk all mixed in with the hair at the bottom, there was ONLY hair at the bottom of this vacuum (the suction is that good), which made it a really easy, mess-free cleanup. So long as it holds up well, I will be singing this vacuums praises to EVERYONE.

I like my shark vacuum so far. Only used it twice so far but has much better suction than my Hoover did.

We had a Dyson Animal vacuum for 15 years that needed to be replaced. We kept up the maintenance on it, but it just didn’t seem to be cleaning as well as it used to. I started researching vacuums and was a little nervous about this one due to some of the negative reviews. I am so glad I took the chance and bought it! I couldn’t believe how much it picked up the first time I used it (wish now I had taken a picture!) that my Dyson had left behind. After using it for almost a month and a half, I can say I love this vacuum! I wish I’d have bought it 2 years ago!

I needed an upgrade from the vacuum I had because it would try pulling out dog hair but would never bring it out of the carpet. My tan carpet looked gray in areas from the black dog hair. I asked around and a few of my friends recommended a Shark Navigator. I liked the pricing and it seemed to have good reviews. I just got it today and was excited to try it. I used my old vacuum on Monday....today is Thursday. The carpeting didnt look too dirty but I still wanted to try out my purchase. It pulled out so much dirt and hair from my clean carpet. I emptied the canister and thought for fun Id weigh it to see. I could puke! It collected 0.4 POUNDS of nastiness from just the general walking area of my carpets. This wasnt even a deep clean (I didnt go under the couches or even every area of my living room).

Ive owned this product for about a month now and have been impressed on how good a job it does on my hardwood floors and carpeting. The negatives are it has a small debris container and only comes with 2 attachments for the hose. Overall, Im happy with my purchase and Im able to use hose attachments from a previous purchased Shark vacuum.

Vacuum has great suction, no doubt. Im a 57 year old woman but in great shape and pretty strong. I have hardwood floors with low pile rugs that I cannot push or pull this vacuum over. This would not work for an older person, even on position one of the switch which I assume is for hard floors. I dont like the fact that you cannot change the position to different rug or carpet styles. I also dont like the cord coming off the back side of the machine and only six inches from the ground. I am constantly running it over, have to stop, pick up the machine to get the cord out from underneath. Frustrating. The onboard tools do not stay or snap into the handle and will fall out during use. The handle is also awkward when trying to clean things overhead with the 180° radius. In short, the canister clean out is nice and the suction is strong but not thrilled with the rest of it. The picture I attached with the rug is the type I can barely push or pull the vacuum no matter the setting. I ended up giving this vacuum to my boyfriend because he said he needed a new one and had a prior model. I stated earlier that I could not push or pull the vacuum on low-pile rugs, especially on humid days. He showed me there is a way to adjust the suction up near the handle. That made all the difference in the world.

This is a very nice vacuum which you can separate and carry just the canister around, this is a wonderful design. The upholstery tool doesnt stay on and turn as you use it, luckily I had extras from previous vacuums for use one working better. I had no issues with the crevice tool, and have extras as well. I enjoy using this thing, cleaning is a breeze!
