    Greater than one week

I received this and set it up and it worked perfectly for about 2 weeks. Then it stopped working completely. I contacted them and set up a return and replacement. I am waiting on the replacement to show up. If it works and does not go dead on me, I would give this a 5 star rating. Till I can see the results of the replacement, I cant. For the time it did work, it worked really well. Tracked all my local agencies as well as civil and military air in the area. It also tracked all the train traffic in my area. Easy to set up and get running. Dissapointed with the replacement as it was missing the stand and was an apparent return, not a new unit. Was programed for wisconsin, not from a virgin state. Lowered my rating on this seller.

Easy to program but when you put yr zip code in itll give you everything full data base. So I have a lot of agencies on avoid like DPW Education Freqs bus services corrections high school security utilities company cable and miscellaneous things that come in on the data base. But overall its a gem I love it.

Touch controls are excellent. Really like zip code programming off of my computer using downloaded s/w from Uniden. Having a computer is important. Charging and Non-Charging mode is harder than it needs to be… Mobile use needs a special mount.

Following the start-up instructions, I had to find an old PC to plug into for what was supposedly a DB update. (We purged PCs from our home a few years ago.) Never got that to work. But it turns out the existing flash/ROM installed DB was just fine. The catch is, as a default it wants to scan EVERYTHING. So if you enter your ZIP code, it will give you ALL the frequencies you could possibly want... the entire state, your county, and your locals. With all that scanning, youll get nothing. So a quick trick is to use the FAVORITES option (easy to find and setup). Quick lookup online for your local and of-interest frequencies, manually enter them as favorites, and it finds the matching names in its database. Then youll have a nice, short list, of frequencies that you care about, and it will cycle through them quickly. And NOW youll enjoy all the features too. Very happy with this device. Sound quality is excellent. I wish the stand would lock in place though. Its a flimsy gravity-based shelf-type holder, entirely inappropriate for a $400+ device.

This is my second one. I havent figured out how to hook an external antenna to it for when I am living in my basement vacation home but in my urban area, you cant beat it. I personally think it is one of the easiest to use and best on the market. I bought because my 2010 model died and just for kicks, I loaded the new software on my old unit and now I have two units that both work. I bought my sister one when I got my first one and we are both very happy with the units.

My own fault for not reading closer when ordering. Not being tech smart I thought hell just buy the chip put in the zip code and start listening to digital channels and analog. Picks up analog channels great. So requested and purchased another sim card that was to pick up digital both card were the same. I do not own a computer so can not download anything like the instructions tell you to do. If I would have know the trouble it is to program it I would just stayed with my old Uniden Bearcat. Maybe Ill luck out and someone from Uniden will see this and offer some help after all I am over 70 and technology is not my thing.

I love this thing! After I had help setting it up, but after that I listen to local police, fire, and EMS. The channels come in clear and the display is easy to recognise which emergency frequency you are on. I would recommend a battery charger to charge the batteries.

Easy to use. Much better than a cell phone appams it is about 20 seconds faster than a delayed cell phone scanner app. I was hesitant to spend this much money on something like this knowing that a cell phone as an app that can do the same thing, not true whatsoever this thing is great, it’s faster than a cell phone and when you’re on a cell phone you’re only picking up one channel the scans them all this is a definite must buy I absolutely love it

I have owned many scanners and this one is my favorite so far. It is very easy to use, compact, and has a nice backlit color display. It did not take long to get it up and running, programming was fast and simple, and the receiver seems very good as I am picking up transmissions from surrounding counties using the supplied antenna. The unit can monitor APCO 25 trunked and conventional systems, Motorola analog and mixed digital systems, narrow and wide EDACS, LTR, Conventional and phase 2 TDMA systems so there is not much it wont do. Note that it cannot decrypt encrypted communications or receive blocked frequencies such as cellular systems. When the scanner finds something it displays a lot of useful information. I have it plugged into a power strip that has USB charging ports and it charges fine while in use. The only reason that I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the Sentinel software is a bit lacking in capability - they could do better. Overall I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend it to others, especially those that dont want to spend a lot of time programming frequencies manually.

"Simply enter your zip code or city, and your HOMEPATROL-2 selects the channels in use in your area. Follows communications on APCO 25 Phase 1, Phase 2, X2-TDMA, Motorola, EDACS and LTR trunked systems. Receives conventional and the following types of trunked channels: •Motorola Type I •Motorola Type II •Motorola Type IIi Hybrid •Motorola Type II Smartnet •Motorola Type II Smartzone •Motorola Type II Smartzone Omnilink •Motorola Type II VOC •LTR Standard •Project 25 Standard •Motorola X2-TDMA •P25 Phase I and Phase II •EDACS Standard (Wide) •EDACS Narrowband (Narrow) •EDACS Networked (Wide/Narrow) •EDACS ESK On the following frequencies: (25-512 MHz) (758-960 MHz) (excluding cellular telephone bands) ". Range controls how many channels are selected based on your selected base on your location and system"s location. Small range settings result in fewer systems and departments selected. A selection bar lets you set the range in 2 mile increments. Each set tap is 0.5 miles
