US Art Supply Artist Wood Pastel, Pen, Marker Storage Box with Drawer(s) (Large Tool Box)

This is a very nicely made box that can be put to many uses. I finished mine simply by rubbing in some boiled linseed oil.

Basically sound construction, and well worth it for the price. The hardware seems sound and works well. The tray fits kind of loosely. The dividers *seem* to be meant to come out, but are firmly stuck in place. Neither of these points were problems in my case, but something to be aware of. Its light, unfinished wood and the color is uneven- I recommend staining it and giving it a couple of coats of sealant; I used MinWax Pickled Oak stain and it came out looking quite nice.

I should have read the fine print before buying. Give where this is manufactured Im sure the animal who gave up its skin for this handle suffered mightily. You would think Amazon would realize there are FANTASTIC alternatives to real leather that are even sturdier, especially for artists who use this product. Disappointed.

Nice box, but shoddy craftsmanship. Not only was it covered in yellow drip stains with a few dings in the wood, but the hinges were also put on slightly crooked and the glue inside was excessive. Overall, a nice box, and maybe I just got unlucky. Nice for the cost, but production seemed rushed.

Paint and artist brushes

First off, Im a perfectionist. Im very hard to earn a compliment from. Secondly after reading the other reviews, I begin to think I should have spend more money for a more premier brand. Im pleased to report all my apprehensions due to other reviewers negatives...after my art box arrived.....vanished. Im very pleased with the US Art Box quality and construction. The storage box does have a matte-finish clear coat ( outside surfaces only ) The walls of the storage box are made of a tight grained hardwood. The storage box top, bottom and tray bottom are fabricated of a furniture grade 3-layer plywood. Photos included show the inside tray with the gap size depicted by common coins, two Pennys and two Nickels to prove visually ...there is nothing wrong with this trays fit or finish. All the Hardware, the latches, hinges, and handle were spot on straight as an arrow. All the joinery was well done. The photo showing the inside corner of the tray shows the ONLY flaw I could find.....bet you have to study it hard....to find it ! These four pictures should give you confidence, this robust art storage box is NOT SHODDY by any measure!

Art alternatives wood box supply for a few extra bucks is much better. This sucks. Only purchased this because it was a little cheaper. Shouldve bought another one of the box I bought prior to this! Poor construction not worth what I paid! Not as advertised. One pull tab is missing, the tray is way to small and is not flush at all. The sectional wood slots dont stay in place. They are too small and come out. The box is not sanded and has wood chips sticking out along corners waiting to give someone a splinter! Buyer beware! Purchase at your own risk. Worth $10 maybe and should be sold in a flea market! Over priced for what you can get for a bucks extra. Even spending $20-$30 on a well constructed plastic one is better than this! Wont even bother sending it back, waiting for a refund just to purchase another box then wait for delivery again when I needed it a week ago!

I use this for storing paints and brushes for painting minis. It can hold ~60 citadel paints (12 & 24ml) + brushes + paint handle w/ a mini so its great if you dont have a dedicated painting station.

I needed storage for my acrylic paints and wanted something that matched my old storage box for my oil paint collection. This fit the bill and was much less expensive than anything at the art supply store. Great value for a sturdy box.
