I got this to replace a second smaller screen, and it sits side by side with my older Acer screen. i am amazed at the brightness and clarity. I now need to purchase a second to match as there is such a difference.

Product is easy to assemble, somewhat flimsy support but adequate. Main selling point: acceptable quality at low price.

Good quality monitor for the price. I only use it for office work but have watched Netflix on it as well. The screen is sufficient for the average user.

Let me just start by saying this monitor in terms of price and image quality is very good. Its got nice viewing angles, a bright/vivid picture with nice colors, all three display ports/audio jack etc... its a matte finish too which is great for people who have keyboards that light up as it wont reflect onto the monitor itself like my last Acer H236HL did with the glossy mirror finish. That being said, this is my 3rd Acer monitor in a row that has shipped with exactly one dead pixel somewhere on the screen. The first one, an Acer H236HL from Best Buy, came with a dead pixel on the upper left of the screen and since I purchased that at Best Buy, I was out of the 14 day return window. I then decided to give Acer a second shot with this R240HY model since it hit all the check points I was currently looking for a monitor mentioned above as the glossy screen of the H236HL was a big hindrance in any area with light coming in. After a day of using it I did a dead pixel test against red, green, blue, white and black backgrounds and against blue backgrounds it had a dead pixel right near the center of the screen. As usual Amazon was great with the replacement without hassle. Unfortunately my second monitor came with a defect on the upper left. A black dot was now present on the upper left of my screen across all colored backgrounds. I contacted Amazon and theyve offered me a refund but no further replacement which is still great service by them as this is completely on Acer and not them. I really liked this monitor overall but I cant let a 3rd dead pixel in a row slide from the same manufacturer and will probably have to look for alternatives. Unfortunately a lot of people easily overlook a dead pixel or two, or simply never notice them but I find even one dead pixel a complete failure on the manufacturers part and I will inspect every background on a newly purchased monitor. Note: if you go through Acer RMA, they consider 10 dead pixels acceptable on 1080P screens and 16 acceptable on 2K screens, so keep that in mind when shopping with them. In conclusion, its a shame because I really wanted to keep this monitor as the image quality for the price is superb, but its pretty obvious where they cut corners to keep the prices down. I urge all of you to do a simple dead pixel test online after a few days of owning a new monitor as youre entitled to a brand new product without manufacturing defects.

Excellent value for money. I suspect this to be one of the best choices of monitors in the category. I am very satisfied with its performance and have found no evidence of leaks around the perimeter (as a review I had read might have suggested). Picture image is absolutely steady and color and detail are vivid and sharp. The frame around the image is arguably the thinnest in its category. This is a big plus when it comes to long sessions of work. Also, it would be a plus when using multiple monitors. As I expected, there is a relatively wide viewing angle from any direction - so there is little need to adjust the stand constantly. Again, during long sessions of work I change my angle and height of viewing quite a bit, the wide viewing angle is much more comfortable in such cases. One small issue I have noticed while testing is that I would have preferred a height adjustment on the stand. My preferred viewing height would have been about an inch shorter than the fixed 4.5 inch height (bottom of image to desktop). Sometimes I have to place the monitor on a standard tabletop at work, which is particularly where this need becomes apparent. I thought of mentioning this only for the manufacturers, but it is not really a big problem since I am quite accustomed to it even at this time, three weeks after putting the monitor into use. Since I use this monitor with a new build, its generic drivers were installed by Windows during assembly. However, I replaced these with the Acer drivers. Regardless of how impressed I was with this monitor, I have to state that although I have been a computer builder and business user/enthusiast for many years, I have not been able to figure out how to use the physical buttons on the monitor to tweak its settings - I gave up and used the Windows Control Panel instead. The monitor comes well tuned and does not need much or any tweaking out of the box. Overall, I think most customers would be entirely satisfied with buy and I recommend it highly.

I picked this up for my new Asus ROG Oculus Rift system. I knew Id want something for others to see what the person in the Rift was viewing, as well as a way to use the computer outside of the Rift. I took a star off of it for how the inputs in the back of this come out at a right angle to the screen - meaning it has to stick out a way from a wall, you cant snug it up close to that or a cubicle wall. Also, supposedly there are speakers, but since I use this for an Oculus Rift, and that requires the HDMI port on my GT980 video card, I cant use an input that includes audio. And there is no Aux input to use a 1/8 stereo plug to connect it to the sound card. Other than that, I like it. Powers on pretty quickly, the base doesnt use much space, and the picture is really bright, really crisp, without having to be in torch mode to achieve it. I love the colors and the clarity. For the price, its worth it.

I have three of these monitors in surround. I am a pretty serious gamer and I wanted these monitors for the thin bezels and anti glare screen. All was good when I got them and set them up. Man do they look nice! The stand is pretty high quality and the screen in very thin. On first boot they were bright and decently colorful. Not as good as my old one, but for the price not bad. I soon noticed that the color was not the same on all monitors. one of them had slightly less bright whites, and one had whites with a slight tint of yellow. This was mostly fixed with some adjusting in the settings. So far these issues are easy to look over since they look so nice and nothing beats having three identical monitors. However they are not that great for the one reason I bought them for: Gaming. These monitors have SERIOUS image ghosting. If you dont know what this is, its when the pixels leave a shadow behinds moving images on the screen because they cant change color fast enough. This adds very noticeable white and black shadows in every game even the desktop. Coming from a higher quality (now discontinued monitor) these do not perform very well in that regard. The pixels are very slow. Even textures with little contrast get blurred when moving forward. Now I am giving 4 stars because of the price/performance. They do what they said and look nice. But if you are a serious gamer that is used to a nice responsive image look for a lower latency panel.
