I got it before it dropped to 3 stars but at most you will point this at yourself while you sleep and get cool air. Dont expect cold air or it to cool your bedroom even if its closet size. I add ice cubes all the time and blast it on turbo mode to feel anything. would i recommend you pick this up? Nah, save and get a window unit. or buy a 5-10 gallon bag of ice put it in a bucket and place a box fan on top.

Since we got these units we have saved 100s of dollars on electricity. They are utterly amazing and last for 10 hrs

Our AC failed on a 100+ degree day. You can imagine trying to get service at this time. These were available for same day delivery. I expected something like a mini swamp cooler, but it is not! It has two little mist-makers that a small fan blows over. The cartridge is not a wetted filter ala swamp cooler -- it is a set of felt-like sponges that the wetted air blows by, not through. They will soak up some of the mist. The directions say you can pre-wet them and freeze them for added cooling. We did not try that. Heads up #1: It cools by evaporation --- if you are living in a humid place, it wont help you any more than a fan! Heads up #2 is the water. I suggest you use distilled/ purified water. Because it is a mister, it can fail due to minerals/ sediments plugging the tiny orifices. ( I suspect many of the quite working reviews are related to that.) Also, tap water minerals will give you a fine dust as the water evaporates. If you have a lung condition, you DO NOT want to add fine particles to your air. Heads up #3: Look carefully and make sure you have all the tape removed. I have one louver that will not adjust because I broke it due to tape. Heads up #4: Whatever you set it on will get wet-- so be careful of your particle board furniture/floors. Setting the louvers slightly up will help with the front drips. I note that one reviewer added a drip catcher to theirs as a fix. There will still be leakage from inside. The manufacturer failed to provide a pan feature at the bottom of the device. We are using those cheap plasticware covers (ala tupperware) to set them on. I suppose you could use a cookie sheet, foil, plasticwrap, etc for the same purpose. Another reviewer used this for the purpose https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PKH3E4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bottom Line -- I am happy with them (we bought 2). They kept us reasonably comfortable til our AC got a temporary band-aid. The outside fan motor was going out on thermal protection- which lead to the compressor stopping due to high pressure. We are waiting on a replacement motor that is Mojave rated. If the existing motor burns up before the new one arrives, we are OK with these little units!!

Smaller then expected a little noise good as a personal fan. Height is the size of an iPhone.

Be sure to place a towel under it otherwise you will have a puddle….

This is essentially a modern version of a swamp cooler, thats not a bad thing though. its very easy to use and simple to set up. Wet down the cartridge and put it in the freezer and it will work better to start. My only complaints are that this thing is loud and if you have it on high it runs out of water in about 6 or 7 hours So if youre using it in your bedroom while you sleep be aware.

Its surprising how much cool air this cube can produce. Unfortunately you must be setting right in front of and very close to it in order to experience the air. I sat it next to my favorite chair and it works for me.

So 2.0 version is quieter, but this is only due to the fact that the fan on high is no longer as strong. High is now equivalent to LOW on the version prior. Also, there STILL is no option to turn the lights OFF! There is a night light that still shines in my eyes at night on my nightstand, keeping me awake. The other lights are even brighter than the previous version. We dont need to pay an extra $20 for a fan that barely blows and fancy lights that blind ya. Also, the air filter felt is less than half the other versions. I have allergies, and when though this is just a fancy fan, I NEED the air filter. Stick to the ORIGINAL version and price!

I bought this unit to cool my bedroom so that I could turn off my central heat and air. It made no sense to cool the entire house if I could just stay in one room and cool that. I was hoping that this unit would be a money saver as my money doesn’t go as far as it used to. Although I found it to blow cool air consistently, it did not cool the entire room. The instructions to for best results to use ice cubes but I don’t have an icemaker, so I just used water. The results were mediocre and I returned it.
