> 3 dayThe refurb arrived on time and in great condition. The actual monitor had no physical damage and there were only a couple small scuffs around the base of the stand. There were no dead pixels and the monitor itself is actually stunning for an older display. It handles 3D (thank you 3D fix manager) really well with the nvidia 3d vision kit. Besides that it is a very snappy responsive display for gaming though the colors arent the most accurate. Its a very bright and colorful display but it tends to bloom dark colors even though its blacks are actually stunning. The only other gripe is the viewing angles are pretty rough but looking dead on its great

> 3 dayFor those of you that wanted a 144 Hz/1ms delay monitor for a good price, this monitor does the job. Please keep in mind that out of the box it does not come with a display port/DVI-dual link cable, so you will need to buy those as well if you want to reach 144 refresh rate. As other reviews said the monitor does have washed out colors, I used the settings below (courtesy of Reddit) which helped it a lot. Settings: -Theater mode -Contrast = 83 -Saturation = 42 -Color temp = user mode with all three set to 83 -Skin tone = natural -Sharpness = 50 -Trace Free = 40 -ASCR = On Getting 144 Hz on Windows 10: Also note the monitor will default to 60 Hz out of the box, even with a new cable. To change this on Windows 10 (with creators update) go to display settings, click display adapter properties, and then click the monitor tab and select the refresh rate you want. (if you have more than 1 monitor make sure to have the right one selected before trying to change the settings). Overall, for the price, its a good monitor, arrived quickly and in good condition. Will probably buy a second one to replace my other monitor, Overwatch looks great on it.

> 3 dayThis is the best monitor I have ever owned , My previous monitor was only 60 HZ with 1ms responce time ,My computer I put together is above average running a 8 core processor 32 GB memory EVGA motherboard ,EVGA 2070 gaming GPU and 2-TB solid state sansung , I used a high Quality display cable to connect from monitor to GPU and I have logged about 12 hours of game play with this monitor , playing Assassin Creed valhalla and its absolutly the best I have ever had , great colors very smooth and clear , I never knew how much vegatation is in this game till now , One of the things I used to struggle with are the stupid tattos you have to chase , Well not any more I captured like three of them in about ten minutes , they are a lot easier to see and follow now , Combat and everything else is much better , I read a lot of negative reviews about the color , But this monitor has great color for my setup , I have no complaints , early mornings /high noon /afternoons and night all are very real , Cloud cover /sunshine/ rain /fog/wind/ fire /smoke/sunrise/sunset all great on my build , I may just be lucky , But I am happy with this monitor ! Have a nice day and good luck !

> 3 dayAmazing response rate! This is the current top of the line for fast gaming . 144hz mode is great, but the real advantage is using 120hz mode with the lightboost trick. This trick eliminates basically ALL motion blur by syncing the backlight with pixel updates (so only correct images are displayed). This is at 120hz - so you get amazing response, no input lag, and no motion blur. Not sure how it can get any better than this as far as performance is concerned. One drawback is the color gamut. It is not top of the line, and probably worse than the average LCD panel in this price range. But that is the price to pay for its amazing performance specifications. Using the lightboost trick removes almost any calibration you can make to the monitor, so unfortunately theres not way to get both a great picture and great performance. The adjustable stand is great - lots of vertical movement, rotation (of the stand and monitor), and tilt. Not much downward tilt, so youll have to make sure your eyes are at least at the middle of the monitor in a natural position, but the monitor collapses to that its about 1 in off the the desk, so this shouldnt be problem in most situations. Havent used 3D on it yet (but the 3D features are required to do the lightboost trick). Theres a new technology coming out, Gsync, from nvidia that is the successor to the lightboost trick (since this isnt officially recognized by nvidia), but requires a hardware upgrade. So far, this is the only monitor that supports Gsync (with the upgrade), though im guessing more monitors will come out with it built in. For the price, you cannot get a better gaming monitor.

> 3 dayPros: Monitor is large yet compact and will not take up a lot of space on a desk. The ability to raise and lower the screen vertically with just a push makes going from low/eye level when typing to fully elevated for watching movies farther away really convenient. The very bottom of the monitor is 2 from the desk when its fully lowered and 6 7/8 from the desk when fully raised (just some info I wish knew when buying). Although I likely wont use it that often, I also like the option to swivel the monitor into a vertical orientation. Lastly, the 144 Hz refresh rate is extremely noticeable especially if youre coming from an old 60 Hz monitor. Mouse movement, window dragging & video games are so much smoother and fluid. Others may disagree but I found the viewing angles for the monitor to be very forgiving. Granted, if you try and look from a 45 degree angle youll see some yellowing/bluing and darkening but that is expected of a TN panel. Cons: The monitor will ONLY work in 144 Hz mode when using the DVI or DP ports and a resolution of 1920x1080. I bought an HDMI cable assuming it would support 144 Hz but its capped at 60 Hz. Maybe thats just my lack of understanding technical information about HDMI and DVI/DP so I can let it slide, I just wish it was stated. Out of box, in all the default Splendid viewing modes the colors were very washed out and each mode was VERY bright. After a bit of research, this appears to be a common problem with the monitor. The solution is to download custom ICC profiles. A simple search of the monitor model number and ICC profiles leads you to multiple tutorials on how to load these profiles. After the profiles are applied the difference is obvious; the colors, contrast, brightness etc. are all improved dramatically. I only wish ASUS put a little more work into the default settings so I wouldnt have to adjust anything. Summary: Overall, the monitor is the perfect size for sitting up close but also big enough to watch movies from afar. There were no defects, scratches, or dead pixels (so far) out of the box. The screen is very bright and clear, but youll likely have to download an ICC profile or tweak the settings to get the picture/colors that are best for you. Be sure you have a dual-link DVI supported video card before purchasing because the 144 Hz can only be unlocked using DVI/DP. For a $277 monitor with 144 Hz capabilities and decent-good picture quality (after adjustment) its a solid buy.

11-06-2025Monitor review will begin with a * infront. So let me first start off by saying this is my 2nd Asus VG248QE. The first one was delivered but within 10 mins of being on my step, police think someone followed the delivery truck and jacked it. It arrived apparently with the monitor not in another box but just a big box with a handle displaying your beautiful monitor. Niceee. So I now have no monitor. After 3 days investigation with USPS and Amazon and the Local PD. We conclude that it was stolen right under my nose while I was home and on my way to grab the box after hearing my text alert. Amazon, thank you again for being 5 star and not only handling this matter but sending me a replacement. I have it now. Its setup and Im just so thrilled. Its beautiful and Im blown away by the clarity. Amazon I will be a customer for life for your awesome and understanding service representatives. Conclusion! Watch packages carefully and set up custom delivery instructions or a safety box to deliver your merchandise safe and sound to prevent this. I bought ring cameras with solar that are rechargeable, wireless, and 1080p. You can get them on Amazon aswell for 220 roughly. Theft wont occur ever again at my step! *monitor is heavy but light. Its a solid quality build. No dead pixels. The visuals are night and day and I was using a pretty good fairly new 60 inch by sharp aquos with 4k. I actually see how a smaller monitor is better for fps! And my oh my do I love this monitor. And yes it flips sideways! All in all. Just buy this one!! PS thank you Amazon for making this difficult transaction very easy!!! P.S.S. whoever stole my monitor. I hope you use it to the full potential and it helped your family out. If you sold it for drugs. Shame on you. Go get a job and learn what it feels like to earn something from hard work. Thank you very much.

> 3 dayMy first review ever. Unfortunately, its for somewhat of a selfish reason as I have a complaint but hear me out first. I would like to point out that this monitor is great. AMAZING refresh rate...has to be seen to be believed. If you are upgrading from a 60Hz monitor you will forever be changed after using this thing. I cannot emphasize this enough. Be aware that you will need a quality rig to take full advantage of this monitor. At 144Hz, you need a graphics card which can push at least 144FPS. Many gamers will find this difficult to achieve at High or Ultra settings (especially with some of todays AAA games). It is truly intended for gamers or more specifically, FPS games such as CSGO (which is exactly why I bought it for my son). If you are looking to do graphics or light gaming, I would consider an IPS panel as they tend to have more accurate color reproduction. This is not your average monitor and will require a quick Google search to get it to look just right but it can be done as others have stated (look up calibration and ICC profile). Now for my complaint. The problem came just yesterday when my son received an NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 kit for Christmas. This monitor has built-in support for 3D which means it can display both games and Blu-Rays in 3D. When playing anything in 3D there is a blue vertical bar about 5 or maybe 8 pixels wide going right down the middle of the screen. This occurs in both games and movies in 3D. It can be hard to tell at times depending on the color of what is on-screen but it is there. For whatever reason, it ONLY occurs during 3D. When going back to 2D, the blue bar goes away. This cannot be by design and in my estimation is a problem with the monitor itself. I feel I should give the monitor a 1-star rating to bring attention to this issue but it is just too good of a monitor in 2D and I think we may have just gotten a bad one. My main issue here is that this problem was not discovered until AFTER Amazons return policy had expired because we never tested 3D until yesterday. Not sure what to do. For those interested, my sons computer specs are as follows: Intel i5 4670 CPU, MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mainboard, 8GB GSkill RAM, 240GB Seagate SSD, 1TB WD Black, Corsair 750W PSU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, LG Blu-Ray 3D drive, Razer DeathAdder Mouse, Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 Stealth Mechanical Keyboard, Logitech Wireless G930, Windows 8.1, CyberLink PowerDVD 14 Ultra, NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Kit Btw, my son pwns all at CSGO.

> 3 dayFantastic resultion and image quality. It integrates seamlessly with NVIDIAs 3d Vision platform and impresses the hell out of me. When you do set up the monitor, make sure that it is recognized as an ASUS VG248QE and not the actual LCD panels name. If that shows up, download the drivers from ASUSs website to ensure that the monitor is recognized. Two problems arose during operation though. First is the baddie; The power button sometimes refuses to turn on the monitor. It stays black. Im forced to power cycle the monitor via power cable, then the power button lights up and responds. This is an erratic issue and perhaps a design glitch. That entitled one star off with justification and thats being nice about it. The second is the adjustable height. At any time, do not have anything under the monitor or on the stand itself. If the monitor is presses down at the top, it will come down on top of anything that is on the stand and may damage either the item or the monitor itself! I put a big label on my stand that says KEEP THINGS OFF ME to remind me and anyone else not to wind up getting their stuff crunched. I nearly lost a good set of $300 computer reading glasses (titanium frame, thankyouverymuch) that way. It integrates in with an older Samsung quite well. Ive had to run the MS color calibration wizard a few times to get things right and I can barely tell the difference between the two. I run a 3D Matrix screen saver and at night it is very engrossing and addictive. If ASUS does takes note of the glitch with the power button, they can feel free to contact me directly so we can discuss and perhaps diagnose this headache.

> 3 dayGreat budget monitor, I cant BELIEVE the difference this made. Just 2 problems Ive found; My Displayport, which is what u want to use to get the 144hz out of your GPU, was showing no signal, I would plug in to HDMI and it worked fine, I figured it was the my DP cable so I bought a new one. The new cable did not fix the problem, I thought it was the GPU, unplugged and went to onboard DP port, still no signal. So now Im thinking its the port on the monitor!! In a last ditch effort before contacting ASUS product support, I unplugged the power cable and held the power button down for 15sec, I plugged it back in and turned it on on the DP source and lo and BEHOLD its ALIVE! Take note of that process if youre contemplating a purchasing this item. Second, I play games on both PC and console, the PC looks flawless in HD no matter what frequency I run at (60,120,144hz), my PS4 on the other other hand, looks great but I can see red specs or red pixels floating around. I dont know what the deal is with that, but it doesnt do it on my other HD monitor (an older ALIENWARE). If youre buying this SOLELY to console game dont, If youre buying it to get more out of your GPU on PC its GREAT! I suggest upgrading the monitor before upgrading the GPU.
