Greater than one weekFor those of you that wanted a 144 Hz/1ms delay monitor for a good price, this monitor does the job. Please keep in mind that out of the box it does not come with a display port/DVI-dual link cable, so you will need to buy those as well if you want to reach 144 refresh rate. As other reviews said the monitor does have washed out colors, I used the settings below (courtesy of Reddit) which helped it a lot. Settings: -Theater mode -Contrast = 83 -Saturation = 42 -Color temp = user mode with all three set to 83 -Skin tone = natural -Sharpness = 50 -Trace Free = 40 -ASCR = On Getting 144 Hz on Windows 10: Also note the monitor will default to 60 Hz out of the box, even with a new cable. To change this on Windows 10 (with creators update) go to display settings, click display adapter properties, and then click the monitor tab and select the refresh rate you want. (if you have more than 1 monitor make sure to have the right one selected before trying to change the settings). Overall, for the price, its a good monitor, arrived quickly and in good condition. Will probably buy a second one to replace my other monitor, Overwatch looks great on it.

> 3 dayIm so glad my friend talked me into buying a high quality monitor for gaming. I never considered a monitor to really make much of a difference in display quality but I cant describe the difference between this and a budget monitor. The 144Hz is what I originally bought it for but the deep contrast and colors this thing offers is amazing. Unfortunately that isnt apparent without some work. The display settings out of the box are atrocious. I spent a good deal of time tweaking the settings and got to a point that I thought was acceptable, and let me tell you, ASUS couldnt make the menu navigation more unintuative if they tried. I was beginning to regret my investment a little for a while. If the colors werent bleeding, they were washed out. I had a hard time getting a good value range. The blacks just werent black enough. The whites were dull. Finally I found the settings that worked for me (almost as much as I worked for it) and I couldnt be happier. I am wowed every time I open a game. For those of you who have bought this and are struggling to find the right settings, what finally ended up working for me was just the default scenery mode setting with the sharpness set to 50. If colors seem too saturated just live with it a while and see if you change your mind. I was too used to cheap monitors to appreciate the color range at first. If youre not sure that you have the right settings try holding a magazine or textbook photo next to your monitor in a well lit room. Also try asking yourself these questions: Do you have a good value range? You want your blacks truly black and your whites nice and bright. You shouldnt be able to describe either one as gray. Is your color contrast good? Can you clearly see subtle differences in similar colors? Do textures stand out properly? Are your colors washed out? This monitor can get super bright but dont let that trick you into thinking whitened colors are okay. The colors can get deep and vibrant as well. Do your colors bleed? This most obvious around text. Dark colored text should not have a whitened border around it. Similarly, bright text should appear to be a single distinguishable color. Otherwise your sharpness is likely too high. This is also possible if you notice extra pixels around text. In the end Im incredibly satisfied with this monitor. Its just a shame I had to do so much experimentation to bring out its potential.

> 3 dayI upgraded my gaming setup by purchasing two ASUS TUF Gaming 23.8 1080P Monitors (VG249Q1R), and I am thrilled with the results! These monitors have proven to be exceptional replacements for my old ones, enhancing my gaming experience to a whole new level. First and foremost, the visual quality of these monitors is outstanding. The Full HD resolution and IPS panel deliver stunningly sharp and vibrant images, making every game come to life with rich colors and remarkable detail. The 165Hz refresh rate (supports 144Hz) ensures smooth and fluid motion, eliminating any blur or stuttering during fast-paced gaming sessions. The 1ms response time is a game-changer, providing instant and precise responsiveness to my actions. Whether engaging in intense battles or navigating through complex environments, the ASUS TUF Gaming monitors to keep up with my every move, allowing for quick and accurate reactions. The Extreme Low Motion Blur feature, further enhances the visual experience by reducing motion blur, resulting in crystal-clear and highly immersive gameplay. I can now enjoy fast-paced action without any distracting ghosting effects. I appreciate the inclusion of built-in speakers, as they provide decent audio quality for casual gaming and general multimedia use. While dedicated gaming headsets are still ideal for immersive sound, the speakers offer a convenient option for those quick gaming sessions. The FreeSync™ Premium technology is valuable, synchronizing the monitors refresh rate with the graphics cards output, eliminating screen tearing and stuttering for a seamless visual experience. ASUSs Shadow Boost technology deserves special mention, as it enhances the visibility of dark scenes without overexposing bright areas. This feature proves particularly useful in games where spotting enemies hiding in shadows can make all the difference. Mounting the monitors was a breeze, thanks to their VESA compatibility, allowing easy integration into my preferred setup. I highly recommend the ASUS TUF Gaming 23.8 1080P Monitors (VG249Q1R) to anyone seeking an exceptional gaming experience. These monitors combine stunning visuals, fast response times, immersive features like Extreme Low Motion Blur and Shadow Boost, and convenient connectivity options through DisplayPort and HDMI. Greater than one weekI like it. For the price that I got it at, I really, really like it. Ive read on a lot of reviews that people dont like the finish and how it attracts dust, I personally dont mind. When I got it I thought, wow people complain so much about such a small detail. But if it matters that much to you then, I dont know then, maybe a different monitor to avoid getting annoyed by the dust it collects? It honestly doesnt collect dust that much if you dust weekly (and my pc set up is in my bedroom so a blanket + carpet flooring by comparison) For the colors that people complain about, I just went into the monitor settings and adjusted the screen color and contrast to the way I find comfortable for my eyes. I did find that the default setting when you first get it did bother my eyes a little bit. If you work with photo shop or other applications and need precise color display then I wouldnt recommend this monitor, it was specifically for gaming for me. I dont have any complaints about the monitor, other than its a bit too big for my desk set up, but I have another monitor so thats my problem. My first 144 Hz monitor, the change in experience is pretty great. Changed my life forever. Im a college student so for this upgrade I felt it was a good deal (I had wanted a pure black monitor to match the pc color scheme and the other ones in the market didnt fall in that criteria) A month into having this monitor, thats pretty much all I have to say I think; will update if I have problems later.

> 3 dayBought 2 of these monitors (several months apart) for a new computer build. Good quality, and the screens offer up a lot of detail in games. The only downside I can really say about them, is that it is very hard to get them to match up even after calibrating. Comparing them side to side after calibration, there seems to be slight color issues, and one screen seems slightly warmer, while the other slightly cooler- this is normal even with 2 of the same monitors due to manufacturing differences. Calibrating any monitor is going to be necessary, and these are no different. Right out of the box, the monitors are good almost as is, and very little calibration is needed for anyone just wanting to use it for general computer work. For gaming however, take the time to learn how to properly calibrate the monitors for the best gaming experience. If you currently have a smaller desk, these monitors might take up a lot of desk space with their default stands, and upgrading to a better stand might be the solution. I used the monitors for over a year with their included stands, before finally purchasing a third-party VIVO dual monitor stacking stand (look for my review on it). Overall the default stands are nice, sturdy, and allow for good adjustment, but for someone like me who needs dual monitors, consider upgrading the stand later on to fit your needs.

> 3 dayAmazing response rate! This is the current top of the line for fast gaming . 144hz mode is great, but the real advantage is using 120hz mode with the lightboost trick. This trick eliminates basically ALL motion blur by syncing the backlight with pixel updates (so only correct images are displayed). This is at 120hz - so you get amazing response, no input lag, and no motion blur. Not sure how it can get any better than this as far as performance is concerned. One drawback is the color gamut. It is not top of the line, and probably worse than the average LCD panel in this price range. But that is the price to pay for its amazing performance specifications. Using the lightboost trick removes almost any calibration you can make to the monitor, so unfortunately theres not way to get both a great picture and great performance. The adjustable stand is great - lots of vertical movement, rotation (of the stand and monitor), and tilt. Not much downward tilt, so youll have to make sure your eyes are at least at the middle of the monitor in a natural position, but the monitor collapses to that its about 1 in off the the desk, so this shouldnt be problem in most situations. Havent used 3D on it yet (but the 3D features are required to do the lightboost trick). Theres a new technology coming out, Gsync, from nvidia that is the successor to the lightboost trick (since this isnt officially recognized by nvidia), but requires a hardware upgrade. So far, this is the only monitor that supports Gsync (with the upgrade), though im guessing more monitors will come out with it built in. For the price, you cannot get a better gaming monitor.

> 3 daySince I dont buy games for $60 when they are released (I wait until they come down to a reasonable price on Steam), I dont have any current gen games. Therefore, most of my [older gen] games at max settings run above 60 fps on my gaming rig, putting this monitors high refresh rate to good use. I must have poor vision or something, because I do not have any complaints about the color that everyone seems to be going on and on about. I own several monitors of different panel types (IPS, VA, TN) and this one does not seem to be significantly inferior to any of them. But then again, I am an audiophile rather than somebody who knows much about color. PROS: I dont need to repeat what others have written. You may want to read this article about refresh rate before purchasing: maximumpc.com/refresh_rate_2013. You can probably trick yourself into thinking that 144Hz actually makes a difference (much like a placebo effect). CONS: [1] the speakers. ASUS should have just not bothered. They can make a nasty whine depending on what is onscreen, so youd better plan on using headphones or some other alternative to the speakers. [2] cable length. The money that ASUS spent on adding the speakers should have been put towards longer ones (both the DVI cable and the power cord were so short that I had to change my desk setup to accommodate them). Obviously these are not cons that are enough to knock a star off the total score for the monitor, as you can simply buy a longer cable and not use the speakers. Overall, you get much for the price. my gaming rig: Intel i5 4670K OCd @ 4.2 GHz ASUS Gryphon Z87 mobo Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB ASUS VG248QE 24 144Hz LED

> 3 dayUpdate!... Avoid! The 1 button toggle on this not only makes customizing and using the menu a complete and total pain. That single button also breaks really easy.. Whoever thought of a 1 button toggle switch should be fired.. I figure this. If a monitor has a menu. there should be a button for that, then and up and down to navigate it. and to select the setting you want. There should be a button for that.... Oh and if it has more than 1 display port.. There should be a button for each.. How much did Asus save? 0.20-0.30c... I have terrible vision to begin with so dont exactly listen to me... My main complaint is that 1 button toggle. Annoying!!!! I mean, if theres 2 hdmi ports for 2 different computers/set ups.. Why cant we have 2 buttons 1 button for hdmi 1, and another button for hdmi 2... would make it way easier than having to learn and navigate a 1 button toggle menu.. I have 2 pcs. One for my daily driver, 1 for video editing and other loads.. I like to set me editing computer and switch back to the daily driver, then randomly check in on the progress.. I should have a button to just switch between without having to navigate a menu Come on asus. buttons cost what 1/10th of a penny... As for the display.. Its ok. Like I said. my eyes suck anyways.. So everything I look at sucks.. Check other reviews if you want display and picture quality.. Im not the person to really say anything about that

> 3 day****** IMPORTANT ****** Before I start - As everyone has said on these reviews before, the colors look very pale and washed out once you get the monitor. I highly recommend that you Google or go on YouTube and search for this specific video ASUS VG248QE Color Settings / ICC Profile (and discussing lightboost). The uploaders name is Static Sleet and the video was uploaded in October 2015. There are other websites that teach you how and some Reddit threads that do the same, but this video is extremely straightforward on what you should do as soon as you get your monitor out of the box. Now, I was very hesitant in getting this monitor because Im a pretty cautious consumer and read all the one star reviews. I was so afraid of being one of the dead / stuck pixel receivers, but whew! Everything is perfect. I just upgraded from a 20 inch, 60hz, and not a 1ms response time monitor and the difference is staggering. I have this new one and my old one set up side by side and its like night and day. This monitor is much more bright, vibrant, and crisp than the blurry and dull image I see on the old monitor. The box was well packaged and the monitor very secure, and there are no scratches or any parts bent / out of place. Sure, its not one of the more expensive 1440p models that boast G-Sync and yada yada, but if youre on a budget constraint that allows you only to get monitors around 300-400$, this is a steal. So, if youre like me, stop looking at the $600 - $1000+ monitors and narrow them down to two models - this ASUS VG248QE or its 27 counterpart, or the BenQ Zowie XL2411Z that is probably the other one youve been looking at. The only thing that you should do now is go on Google / YouTube again and search BenQ XL2411Z vs ASUS VG248QE 144 hz Monitor Comparison - Which is best for YOU? by Gus Tech. As you can see through the comments and other sites that pit these two versus each other, ASUS blows BenQ out of the park when it comes to picture QUALITY (color, vibrance, etc). The BenQ is claimed to be more efficient however in games because it stays true and strong in those parts of FPS shooters like CS:GO where youre turning around corners and shooting people very quickly. As a FPS fanatic, I can tell you that it is not noticeable at all. It was a no brainer for me to choose the ASUS model after looking at the video I just mentioned because a little efficiency is not worth sacrificing an amazing picture for. Unless youre some world champ shooter that somehow notices this little difference when youre turning around corners, youre not going to notice any difference in those terms at all. The BenQ colors are just terrible. I wouldnt want to play video games to be better if Im not going to like what Im looking at, and you probably dont want that either. Also, one thing I was debating on before getting this model was whether or not I should get the 27. My 20 is so tiny and I was so sick of it, so I thought - the bigger the better. However, I looked up Is a 27 monitor and 1080p worth it and the results werent that great. Many said that you would notice a loss of quality almost immediately unless your computer is extremely far away from you and to the back of the desk, but that wasnt me because my monitor is sitting only an arms length away. I also read on Reddit from people with 27 models that it was simply too big for them and they actually got worse at high speed video games because their eyes couldnt keep up with everything that was going on in the corners and sides of the screen. So, following that advice, I got the 24 because the quality would seemingly be at perfect balance and not stretched out onto a 27 screen and because I didnt want the problem of not being able to see everything happening if Im playing a fast-paced video game. Im very glad that I listened to them! Im actually having trouble sometimes keeping up with this screen too because its also very big when an arms length away. If I had a 27, it would be great for watching some movies far away but.. not at all for games unless you have additional eyes beside your ears. An added bonus with this is that youll be saving 50$ too (by not getting the bigger model)! Overall, I think you should get this VG248QE if your budget falls around here and youre looking for an entry-level 144hz, 1ms, 1080p monitor. Yes, there are lots of one star reviews because of misplaced pixels, but I can tell you after hours of searching for monitors before I got this one that there is only ONE monitor I found with only 4-5 star reviews - and it cost 2300$ and only like two or three people actually reviewed it.. Every monitor you come by will have problems from consumers such as dead pixels, power failures, the monitor simply dying, buttons falling off, etc. The VG248QE will have a lot more of these simply because of the sheer amount of people that have bought this over the years. When youre producing a lot of these monitors, obviously some are bound to fail. but this model, as you can tell, is always holding strong near 80% five star reviews - which is a lot higher than other monitors that I have seen on Amazon. Just pray that youre not in the 20% and buy it. Dont press your back button and go to the BenQ. Just get it!! Oh, and a lot of people seem to not be getting DVI-D cables with their orders so I read those reviews and got the gold plated, ferrite, DVI-D cable that is under the products frequently bought with this because I thought I wouldnt be getting one. Well, I did get one with the monitor. So, take that with a grain of salt; you may or may not get one.
