> 3 dayOK - I only gave it a 4-star rating because I just tested it. Multiple use will come later. I like the long (20) cord because it is easier to use on my iMac or PC desktop than a silly 10 +/- cord. It did say to plug in both USB plugs into the computer. Might be inconvenient but not a real problem. First time it was a Amicool DVD burner. It worked but the front plate on the open/close drawer was coming off. I returned it for a refund. Second time was an LG DVD burner. Tried it twice but both burns failed - and they failed differently. I assume it was a mechanical or electrical issue with the burner. I also returned it for a refund. So the third time is a charm! It worked and I hope it works for years to come as my previous Samsung DVD burner did.

> 3 dayI have been trying to view videos and photos and if it works, it often takes a long time. It stops and has to start over regardless of the content. There is no customer service from either this seller or ASUs (each says the other is responsible). I can not even get them to discuss repairing, exchanging, or refunding. I will not purchase from them again.

Greater than one weekI got this drive to burn M-Disc DVDrs. The drive does that fine. Just dont touch it when its burning. If it gets bumped at all the disc is ruined and you have to start over. It came with blank 2 M-Discs which was a nice surprise. Construction is about what you would expect for this price. If you going to keep it in your laptop bag I would get a protective case for it. the door seems a little flimsy.

> 3 dayThis feels like it could maybe break easily, but it hasnt so far, and Ive accidently dropped it twice - so pretty durable even if it doesnt seem like it. Works great and Ive had no issues. Exactly what I hoped it would be.

> 3 dayIn this day and age most new computers dont come with an optical drive. And why should they? Programs are downloaded or sometimes stored on a thumb drive instead of a CD or DVD. But if youre anything like me you still have several programs that are on disc. Or maybe have files and photos you backed up years ago to DVD. I dont plan to use a DVD drive on a daily or even monthly basis, but I figure its nice to have one around in case I need to reinstall an old program on a new system or if I get an album or audiobook on disc that I want to digitize. Ive gone through 3 external DVD drives recently looking for the right one and this one best filled my needs. All of them did the basics well, but there was one outlier condition that (for me at least) really set this drive apart, and thats reading very full discs. For example: Ive found that sometimes long audibooks will try to minimize the amount of discs they need for a book by using as much of the allotted space as possible. Theyll use 73 minutes and 59 seconds of an allotted 74 minutes of play time if it means only needing 9 discs to record a book instead of 10. That totally makes sense! But of the three drives Ive tested, two struggled on some tracks on those overly stuffed discs (likely when data was stored in the outer most or inner most tracks). This resulted in stutters, garbles, and static blips in the digitized files. This drive was the only one that consistently read in all the files correctly and resulted in clear, complete output. This drive is a great value. It can read and record CDs and DVDs, even the long lasting M-Disc format. Mine even came with 2 M-Disc DVDs, though Im not sure if thats standard or just a promotion. Its got an aluminum casing so its pretty sturdy. Its not perfect. It wont read or write Blu-Ray discs. Its also fairly slow compared to internal drives or external drives that have a dedicated power supply. If I were burning discs on a regular basis Id probably want something a little faster. But for occasional use? Its hard to find a better inexpensive option out there.

> 3 dayFive stars because it works perfectly for what I need (just to add programs to a computer that does not have a disc drive), but it seems very fragile so I am glad I wont need to travel with it or use it extensively. Does what I need it to.

> 3 dayBought this as an add-on to my laptop in order to play DVDs. Ive had it for a few months now and am very pleased with it. Its very lightweight, easy to use, and portable so I can pack it in my laptop bag and go. Recommended!
