I mainly use it for transferring files from PS5 to PC and it works perfectly. Extremely fast transfer speed on both ends. The Type C connector is also an amazing option. The drive also works as an extended storage for the PS5. Highly recommend. 10/10

I was expecting this to be a bit faster than it is because its an SSD drive, but I think Im just missing something. I use this for frequent large audio file transfers from another SSD drive and it really stutters when displaying files. Its possible I just used the wrong formatting technique, but I still expected this to be faster than an HDD. Still, the value is hard to beat.

Overall it is good and fast. The only thing is size, a bit large. If size could be smaller, would be more popular.

This works great for the money. Storage is good and it is very fast. The only complaint is the plastic casing is very light weight and feels cheap.

Sort of a cross between an SSD and a flash drive. Once you have written about 10-20GB in a short time it goes from 300MB/s to 50MB/s write speed. Seems to be a small SSD buffer and a majority of cheaper flash storage since if you leave it plugged in and idle it goes back to the 300+MB/s write speed after a period of time. Read speed does not seem to be affected by this buffering. Its not really ideal for what I intended to use it for which was transferring large amounts of files between my devices and friends devices when they ask for a large collection of files but its very small and requires no cables so I found a use for it as a portable apps/games drive since its very snappy if not writing large amounts of data all at once.

The case is plastic and feels like lego put together by a toddler but it works and it is fast.

I was really happy that the USB came with a USB-C converter. My only long term concern is that the weight of the stick in the tiny port might damage it in the future, but for now it works and fits nicely. Happy with the purchase.

While it has USB flash drive form factor, its really an SSD. So, for an SSD, its quite slow in todays standards. As you can tell from my CrystalMarkDisk benchmark tests, sequential read/write is only 450/215 MB/s. Testing with the included USB-C adapter, it goes up to 600/370 MB/s. With that said, I dont think theres another SSD with a built-in, retractable USB-A interface that is this small AND performs this well for a sustained period of time. The Kingston DataTraveler Max does have higher speeds, but it throttles heavily after 5-20 seconds, down to less than 50 MB/s, so its not in the same league as this Buffalo. Like everyone has already mentioned, the build is very flimsy. Its all lightweight plastic and sounds very hollow when you tap it with your fingernail. Also, Buffalos use of stickers makes the drive feel like a cheap knock-off. They could have at least made sure the stickers were aligned properly (see photo). This thing just screams cheap, cheap, cheap. I just hope this drive doesnt die on me in a few months.

Feels a little fragile like the outer case could break easy

You read these reviews like I did. So let me sum it up. THERE IS NO BETTER USB DRIVE THAN THIS! Every other one is too slow, or too big. One drawback is the port is ONLY USB 3. speed. The USB C is added with an adapter so its not TRUE C speed or control. But it does fit my MAC. And transfer speeds and cache are legit for USB 3. 2TB drives can be had for much less. But they have NO SPEED. It will take the cheap ones DAYS to copy 2TB. You can clone an entire drive with this or make a working VM in a couple hours. I am buying more for back up and archive of drives. much cheaper and better than a pile of clunky large disks for stuff you may NEVER need again. Back up, clone, archive, and put it in a safe place. Brilliant. And for the price EXCEPTIONAL. This is the #1 BEST and I have sent back a half dozen others as JUNK.

The Buffalo SSD-PUT is an award-winning external SSD stick (Solid State Drive) that gives you affordable fast, secure file storage that you can fit into your pocket. With its durability, compact form factor, and lightning fast SSD speeds, you can always have your data with you. The portable and powerful SSD allows you to easily back up all your data without needing to upload them the cloud. Even if you are in a remote location with no Internet, you will still have a backup of all your files. The best budget SSD drive in a compact flash drive form factor. Available in 500GB & 1TB capacities.
