10-06-2025OK, I love this damn thing. Well made and really quiet as compared to other compressors. My vacuum cleaner is louder. You can sit next to it without ear protection and your ears wont bleed. For the price I would give it 6 stars. If you wanted an even quieter compressor with the same range of application be prepared to take out a mortgage. Because of this machine I will always look for a good deal on California Air Tools compressors in the future, god forbid something happens to mine. No, I do not work for the company, just appreciate a machine that does what its supposed to do. I use it mainly for airbrushing but it has the power for a much broader application. Very much recommend.

> 3 dayI love the fact that this compressor is really quiet. I can run it in the house without it making a lot of noise. It works as well as other compressors I have used. The only issue (and it is not a big deal) is the weight of the unit. It is fairly heavy and cant be carried any great distance. Since I transport it via vehicle, I can put up with weight. All in all, a worthwhile purchase.

> 3 dayFirst off I’d like to start off by saying, I was really excited for this compressor from California air tools. I can’t speak for their other models, but this is for model CAT-4710SQ. Arrived falling out of the box. Regulator does not work Psi gauge stuck at 20psi having never even been turned on. Solenoid valve broken Take it all off to find the tank and fitting are rusted inside. I bought this for airbrushing and now that I’ve gotten it up and running, it’s really nice. The box it was shipped In was too big and I suspect I got a returned unit. But all in all it runs quiet as advertised. I’ve been airbrushing till 1am and it’s great! If you were to buy an equivalent spec compressor made for “airbrushing” you’d have to spend way more than this. I had to: replace all the fittings to brass - the ones that were on it were steel and already rusted inside Change the solenoid or “electromagnetism” as it’s called in the manual- mine arrived busted-the one on it is fragile so don’t strip Take all fittings apart and put Teflon tape-When it arrived it leaked a lot Replace the regulator-mine arrived broke and a quick trip to the harbor took care of it for under $20 I can’t say yours will need all of this stuff too. But you will have to take this think apart to get rid of leaks. It’s not too hard, but if you’re not comfortable working on stuff I’d go with a different model. I updated this from 1 star to 3 after the frustration of dealing with all of this. It works, But it does get hot asf

> 3 dayNoise level is super quiet. Very easy to have a conversation. Perfect for a small shop. Very easy to carry around, but not so small that its always running! Very well built.

> 3 dayI really like this compressor. I use it in my hobby/craft/wood shop. It is very quiet, doesnt vibrate and move around on the floor and is compact.

> 3 dayIf you are weary of the eardrum-lacerating racket of pancake compressors (and who isnt), do yourself a major favor and move on to this unit. It is every bit as quiet as claimed, and this makes for a huge improvement to the work environment. Another point against the pancake units: quality control has not been great in recent years. Despite the prestige of the brand, two Porter-Cable pancake compressors of mine both developed leaks and other problems that were difficult/impossible to correct satisfactorily. Forget about getting real customer service, alas. By contrast, everything about this compressor speaks quality. Do be aware that the unit is about ten pounds heavier than a pancake compressor. But Ill take that trade every day in return for the dramatic noise reduction. Youre also getting a larger tank here, meaning less cycling. To improve mobility, simply replace the stock rubber feet with a good set of locking casters. Im replacing many power tools based on a reduced noise factor. Goodbye gas blowers and trimmers, hello 40V electrics. What a difference! The assault on ears has continued for far too long. And the menace is serious, with lifetime consequences potentially involved.

> 3 dayThe quiet setting is as advertised - purrrrrrrrrrs. This is really great. I have a Portal Cable 1 gal comp and it was so freaking noisey!! It pumped out a meager .2 cfm. This 4.7 gal comp puts out 2 cfm at 90 psi x 10 times more.. For the size, this a good!

> 3 daySo far its great! Fills quick and operates quietly. The only thing I didnt like is 2 of the 4 nuts holding the compressor on were tight. One was just on the bolt but not tight and one is missing. Not to be found in the box or any bag. So just need to keep an eye on things.

> 3 dayVery quiet. The fill time seems longer than stated may be due t my high altitude. Not for spray equipment. Been using it in a garage. Probably will run nailers. for the price a good choice. Also no leaks which is not common even on a new compressor.
