We strapped the surfboard down and drove a mile at 35 miles an hour. Incredible shaking going on! We ended up borrowing ratchet straps. No way would we attempt this on the highway. We also missed the return window by two days! Very disappointed.

I bought 2 pairs of these straps after reading all the positive reviews here. I have to say, my experience has not been as positive as everyone else. First, and most importantly, the material these straps are made of is sub par. Like a previous reviewer, I wonder if they recently changed the materials because I cant believe this strap could get so many good reviews. After a trip, the material where the buckle made contact was noticibly worn. In one case, the strap had 1/4 cuts in from the edges. I would not trust it to hold my SUP on the roof again. Other straps show significant chafing and their strength is surely degraded. All this is after only a couple months of short distance and one long distance uses. Beyond the wear, I have also found Im not that fond of the wider strap. It definitely binds up as you are trying to adjust the strap much easier than a narrow strap. I have had to go back to other side of truck to remove twists on a number of occasions. On a positive note, the buckle works great and seems very well constructed. The neoprene cover over the buckle is well thought out and works well. The bag they come in is great for continued storage. DaKine makes many great products...unfortunately for me this isnt one.

Dakine really are the best. They make tying your SUP down incredibly quick and simple. A friend had recommended them and I brushed him off thinking that my straps were awesome and secure, but when he finally showed them to me I understood. Theyre really thick, wide and the tooth locking system couldnt be easier. The padding under the metal keeps your boards safe from scratching. Keep it up Dakine!

The straps are definitely reliable once you get them set up. The protective covers over the buckles are a nice touch to avoid scratching the car or boards. But because the covers wrap around both sides of the buckle very snugly, I find it very difficult to get the loose end through the buckle. Giving 3 stars because of that difficulty.

No problems with surfboard moving around on top of the car and the fun color is a bonus
