I got the medium size for my Leo who is about a year old. Although the entrance seems small, she has no issues getting in or out and is able to easily turn around inside. I did end up turning mine upside down so that I could fit more substrate with less mess. My leo loved it immediately and if she’s not out exploring or warming up she’s dozing away the day in here .

The quality is very nice however as the other reviews have stated, this is a very small item. If you plan on having geckos to adulthood or breeding purposes, do not get the small, go for the medium or even large. If you put moss or dirt inside the small, it leaves very little room inside for nesting. Not to mention the small cave has a Quarter Size opening, which most leopard or crested geckos heads get that size when big enough to breed. Overall, the small is REALLY SMALL, so for most geckos I would recommend the medium at least.

Great hide for a Leopard Gecko as stated by everyone else. I was wondering how this compares to the Zoo Med hide. So, I purchased both. Here is what I think: The Medium Zoo Med cave is a bit larger than the medium Exo Terra cave and just a bit smaller than the large Exo Terra if anyone was wondering. For an adult gecko, the medium Zoo Med is great (or the large), but with ExoTerra you might want to go with the large size. The Exo Terra is more of a resin material, while the Zoo Med is more like ceramic. There can be some sharp edges on the inside lip of the Exo Terra that a little sand paper fixes right up, though I doubt the edges are an issue anyway. Hole placement: I used to make hides from poly foam, and I found that LGs like hides where they climb down into the hide. The Zoo Med hide hole placement is like that - the gecko climbs down into the hide. Not a big deal and not a deal breaker, but the Exo Terra hide has the hole on the side down low. Just an observation, and the gecko will likely care less anyway. So that is some info for you. I have both in my adult geckos cage. Cant go wrong with either. This hide style is better than any half-log, etc. My advice is to lay this partially over the heat, with about 1/4 to 1/3 of it over a non-heated area. This way the gecko can thermo-regulate inside the cave without having to choose either an all-warm cave or an all-cold cave.

This is a fantastic hide. We threw a little moss inside and our lizard loves it!!! Super easy to clean. Happy that the top comes off so we can clean and change the moss easily.

I bought two of these to use as moist hides for my leopard geckos, and it works like a charm! I recently moved them to bigger 20 gallon tanks and needed something to help fill in some of the space. I previously used a Mason Jar with a wet washcloth, but wanted something more natural looking for the expensive tanks I bought. I still use the wet washcloth method, keeping it on the warm side of the tank, and it works wonderfully!

My baby loves this! Shes 4 years old and 76 grams. When it came in the mail, the opening looked too small, but she fits in it perfectly and we use it as her moist hide. She loves sleeping in it and has been in it the last two days. Shell go from there to her warm hide, but she likes this cave when shes shedding. I ordered this medium for $10! You really cant go wrong!

Great so far but the large is really LARGE. We have a 10 month old Leo an he could easily fit in one half this size. It fits the tank OK so Im keeping it. Only had for a couple weeks so far but it seems much better made than the Zoo Med one, I went though 3 of those with the tops and bottoms cracking. Even towards the cool side of the tank they would eventually crack. * 2 Month update - Still holding up well, one minor annoyance is that there are two small holes in the bottom so if youre using it as a moist hide, some water will leak out if you add it directly to the substrate. I just filled the holes and all is well. Still sticking with my 5 star review.

My leopard gecko loves it! He splits his time between this hide, that I’m using as a moist hide, and the hide on the warm side of his tank. I moved his mealworm dish closer so he’d have easier access to it while he’s in here lol. I bought the large size one and for an adult male leopard gecko it’s perfect! It fits nicely in a 20 long but it might be a little snug in anything smaller.

I keep a couple CCGs communally, and even with a ton of tank space and multiple hides, they all cram into this thing. It can fit probably 3 at a time. They love how dark and, well, cavey it is. Might buy another one.

The Exo Terra Gecko Cave makes the perfect addition to your gecko terrarium. A secure hide is an essential feature of the natural terrarium. A proper hiding area is often an underestimated and necessary feature of a natural terrarium. Without a safe spot to hide and sleep, reptiles and amphibians will easily develop stress that will affect their activity and appetite. Hideouts also provide a shelter and/or a cooler and moister area in the terrarium. Without a proper hide and sleeping area, geckos can easily develop stress that may affect their well-being and appetite. The natural look of the Exo Terra Gecko Cave can be easily integrated into any type of terrarium, and its sturdy design prevents it from being easily tipped over by larger geckos. The Exo Terra Gecko Cave is also extremely useful as nesting hide for various species of geckos. To create a moist hide just add moistened Exo Terra’s Forest Moss or Sphagnum Moss. Nesting hides should be kept moist at all times.

Over the years, Exo Terra has become the market leader in reptile products for the natural terrarium. This achievement was made possible by the philosophy of successful, continuous innovation, which has become a basic underlying commitment, a culture and an attitude. Exo Terra has developed a complete line of terrariums and terrarium accessories, including glass terrariums, reptile terrariums, frog terrariums, turtle terrariums, snake terrariums, gecko terrariums, bearded dragon terrariums, small terrariums, large terrariums, terrarium humidifiers, terrarium heaters, terrarium thermometers, terrariums heat lamps, terrarium light bulbs, terrarium plants and terrarium decorations.
