We love this brand of games- other favorites are Sleeping Queens and Sushi Go! Since our family can play together, we wanted to pick up another fun one and this one is great. We got it as part of a bday present for our 7yr old. He has picked it up pretty quickly. Definitely recommend this one!

This game is so much fum for the entire family! It took a couple of rounds to catch on to the rules, but once you get the hang of it, you wont want to stop! My only compliant is that I wish there were a few more power cards in the deck. Overall though, its a small issue compared to the amount of fun we have playing the game.

My dd received this for her 7th birthday and were all addicted. I was surprised that even our 4 yo dd has caught on (although she does keep peeking at her cards). The more players, the more challenging it is. Rounds can be very quick so theres lots of opportunity to win. We love it.

We had played this card game at our grandkids house. (They are 4 and 6.) Afterwards I had to order the game for my house, to have for the other kids. We played it New Years Eve party with only adults. Had a blast. It is a fun game that does not require reading and the rules are flexible. I recommend this game to anyone that likes a challenge of chance & memory. The goal of the game is to have the fewest points with Cats and not get caught with the high scoring Rats.. The 4 star score for durability is because it is a card game, they will eventually wear out.

Its all been said before...but this game is really great. My 6 y.o. says it is her favorite game. Its educational and fun- what a perfect combo! My almost-4-y.o. plays too, but often needs help.

This is a great game for kids -- depending on their age, they can start to understand basic addition and later chance and planningly strategically. My 5-yr old loves it and has been playing since she turned 3, and her 10-yr old cousin still loves it, despite getting very different experiences out of it. Its quick (5 to 10 mins per game) but the variance of outcomes makes it highly repeatable like a simple poker game.

My daughter and I discovered this game years ago (shes now 12), and its still a favorite. The cute graphics help with that (you could play this with a regular deck of cards, and we have, but its not the same). No need for players to be swift with math; its more like a memory game with the addition of needing to know whether one number is higher or lower than another. Theres a bit of strategy to keep it interesting for older players, but its by no means a difficult game to play. Weve given away 2 of our decks, so we just bought a 3rd.

It"s never too early to develop a good poker face. With Rat-a-Tat Cat, a poker face is just one of the skills players need to perfect. As in poker, luck, skill, strategy, and intuition each play a part. Players are dealt four cards, which are kept face- down, except for a quick peek at two of them. Each player in turn pulls a card from the draw pile to replace one of the four. Memory is important, as the object is to end with the lowest score, and players must keep track of the values on their four cards. "Peek," "Swap," and "Draw Two" Power cards turn up occasionally, allowing players to maneuver and strategize further. Delightfully witty pictures of cats (the good guys--low points) and rats (bad guys--high points) illustrate each of the 54 cards. Young card sharks will develop a sense of timing and greater ease with numbers, and can begin to grasp the concept of probability. Winner of Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Best Toy Award and the 1996 Mensa Best New Mind Game. For 2 to 6 players. --Emilie Coulter
