Genuine GORILLA-LIFT 2-Sided Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist

have on a large trailer my husband uses for mowers, i can now take out myself and open the gate.

I unfortunately installed it more than the specified 18. My fault. Had it welded at 18 and wouldnt keep the trailer if I had to keep manually lifting the tailgate. Im a 78 year old woman and this add on is a miracle for me.

I was having a really hard time lifting my gate. Now I can lift it with one finger. My wife can even lift it. Perfect for a senior citizen like me.

So I ordered this and for one reason or another it took 18 months to find the time to install it. Started off slow because my old gate latch was mounted on the top rail and had to be removed. Then had to put new latches on that mounted on the side rail uprights. Total time to install just the Gorilla lift kit was under an hour. Now it is so easy to lift the gate I can not believe it took me so long to get it done. Strongly recommend this product

So this gets 5 stars because of the benefit once it’s right. Truly one finger operation. But there were several functionality issues as designed. One is if you have a fold flat ramp, or need to remove the ramp sometimes, you will lose that because of the way the standoffs stick out and are bolted on. I built A new set of pins and went through two supports on the ramp, and they can be removed in a few seconds if you want fold flat and ramp removability. Which for me, was a must. See pics for easy upgrade. Final product is a life saver, including the upgrade. Btw, that little black bracket with hole is to hang the pin when not attached to the ramp. Just piece of angle attached with the same carriage bolt as the spring housing. Your backs gonna love you!

My friend had one and I was sold from the minute I tried it. I can hook the tailgate with my foot and it comes right up easily. Install can be a bit of a pain depending on your trailer manufacturer, but was totally worth it. My friend broke a roller after years of use and the repair part was easy to get. User instruction could be a bit clearer on where to mount bolt on ramp. Too low and not enough lift and too high and it comes up too fast. I cant overstate the importance of testing before drilling. Pulling the spring taut for attaching the bolts or hooks can be tricky. I used a loop of strong line on the end of the spring and then pulled it out when I was done to save my fingers.

I needed something to allow me to continue using my utility trailer that has a heavy ramp/tailgate. The Gorilla Lift did the trick but it was pretty difficult to install on my round pipe rails. This was all made more difficult by the fact that I’m 75 and have a partially paralyzed hand. Once completed it works very well and I recommend it for us senior citizens. I had to purchase longer bolts to go through the pipe rail but that was the only problem.

Very easy to install and use. Im 66 so it was getting pretty hard for me to raise and lower my trailers talegate. After I installed it I can let it down or rise it up with just my finger !
