GU Energy Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel, 24-Count, Vanilla Bean

Gu seems to do a better job on the flavors than some of the other energy gels, and we love the Gu Vanilla! Our boys love them for biking - it really keeps them going on longer rides, and of course they are great for racing because they go down so quickly. The Vanilla (and all the flavors except banana) do have some caffeine from cola nut - the caffeine is 20 mg/packet (about 1/2 serving of Coca Cola), so take that into account if you are avoiding caffeine or dont want the youngsters to have it.

These are my go-to for long runs. The taste is great and they do what theyre supposed to with an energy boost. I take the first one after 45min, and then one every 45min after that. Definitely need water to stop it gumming up in the mouth, but no digestive issues.

I mean, its Gu. You like it or you dont, right? When its cold, its thicker. When its warm, thinner. The vanilla is one of the better, more versatile flavors. Great for extra carbs during excercise.

If you have an emergency leg cramp in the middle of long ride, this stuff literally makes it go away within a minute. I like to take these on long 4-6 hr rides for a sustained energy boost.

Salted Caramel is my favorite flavor of GU. Ive tried others, and this one tends to always taste good during a run, whereas others I had to choke down. Just make sure you have water with you after you down one of these. I made the mistake of having a GU and then realizing that my CamelBak was out of water. Not good. You really need to be able to wash these down otherwise it leaves a pretty uncomfortable film in your mouth and throat.

Its GU so already expected effective product. The only thing to concern is the shelf life. Best before is on Oct 2023 so it is good.

Absolutely love the taste of these. Have been through two boxes of these already this summer and need another box. I think I will go and order them right now! They are essential for hot summer rides, easy to eat and digest and the salt is necessary (for me, anyway). Sometimes when youre riding a long time/distance and youre hot, the thought of eating anything, never mind a Gu which can be disgusting, is not worth thinking about. But these taste so good I have never felt like that ... definitely recommend if you like the taste of salted caramel anything.

Vanilla isnt as powerfully sweet as other flavors. Enjoy.
