I cleaned the joists and beams thoroughly with a broom and vacuum. It was going to be a hot day, so I did the taping in the morning when it was about 75 degrees. I had no problems with this tape sticking. It was fairly easy to peel and lay out. Curves on warped joists slowed things down a bit, but overall it went pretty quickly. I walked on the tape to seat it. I live in an area where the climate is generally dry, so this is probably overkill (in fact 2 people at Home Depot here had never heard of deck flash).

Useless. I purchased this to place on the tops of the joists and frame in a new backyard deck. This tape went on easily, but 1 day later, I noticed that it was starting to pull away from the wood. By day 2, it was only adhering in a few places. I had to remove it all before placing the top boards on my deck, and I replaced it from a brand purchased at Home Depot. The joist tape from Home Depot is far stronger and more adherent than this tape. DO NOT PURCHASE!

Extremely tacky. When I removed the deteriorating wood boards on my deck the joists had not been taped. Decided to tape before installing the new Trex. Sticks and sticks well even on weather materials.

I used 450 feet to cover every top layer on my joists on my last deck job. Perfect! Good adhesion even at 50 degrees.

Used 17 rolls on a pretty large deck. Was in 100 degree heat during installation and no problems

If youre looking for great adherence and seal performance then this stuff fabulous, but the backing material that gets peeled off is so slippery and slick that it makes application really difficult for one person to do especially if youre standing on a ladder and very limited in reach to keep it in a straight line so it doesnt fold up onto itself as youre laying it down. Recommend two people - one to pull on the backing and the other the lay it flat and straight.

And half the price of the trex stuff..... just built a deck using this stuff on all joists.

The adhesive side of this acts more like caulk than duct tape. Very good adhesive after it sat in the sun for a few hours. My only problem was it would easily fall off the cardboard center tube if you werent careful.

Adhered well to the deck substructure and was easy to use.

Im redoing and outside deck. The joists are still ok but...Ive used this on other decks and it is great at preventing water from rain/snow from entering the joist via screw or nail holes. You will be thankful you used this stuff down the road.
