I bought mine directly from iola (surprisingly less expensive than Amazon) for an intermittent Blue Screen of Death problem, and it actually made the problem worse -- got the BSoD every time I used the sleep option on the PC.

When I received the software and tried to install it there appeared to be nothing on the disk. I tried it in 3 other computers that I own and got the same results and one of the computers is only 4 or 5 months old. I contacted the vendor and he said I would need to contact System Mechanic. He did suggest that I just down load the software from System Mechanic and us the installation code that was printed on the box. The reason I purchased the software disk was to have it as a back up if my hard drive failed.

Ive been a System Mechanic user for years. The last update works flawlessly on one computer and will not start on my other computer. Six weeks after making Iolo aware of this problem they finally offered to try a remote terminal session to trouble shoot the problem. Ive had dozens of software and hardware companies do remote terminal sessions to trouble shoot problems. This was the first time the person on the other end accessed my computer and made changes without explaining their actions before they do anything. Once the session began the person made no effort to communicate with me. I asked for a manager but Alex was in a meeting and never called me back as I requested. I can only assume Iolo thinks their customers are not intelligent enough to include in their trouble shooting effort. For me, this customer support experience was rude and insulting. Iolo automates simple tasks Windows performs on your hard drive. Iolo invented the interface not the tasks their program performs. I would NOT recommend anyone buy this product. Other companies do not treat their customers like idiots.

On more than one occasion this software, over time, removed critical files that caused me to wipe the laptop and start over to regain critical operating files. Every single version of this software (since v10-12) removes critical files - such as system restore points (even those manually created) to restore your system in the event of a failure. If you also use Norton (ID safe or other Symantec products), this software uninstalls the temp files, updates, and backed up files. This software occasionally changes the properties of files - such as the print spooler -- by uninstalling or relegating it to a status where it doesnt start. You will have to manually go in and change that status back to proper start group. It also removes critical extension files of your downloaded software by deeming them irrelevant or space-wasting files. The software does help bring your system connectivity back to optimal speed with efficiency. Its just too aggressive and error-prone when it comes to assessing the actual files it ought to support rather than remove/alter. Needs better algorithms.

System Mechanic is simple to use and takes the guesswork out of system repair. System administration is a difficult job and System Mechanic spares me lots of headaches. Keeps my system running quickly and safely. Ive been using this product for about three years with no hiccups.

iolo System Mechanic does everything you expect a tuning utility to do, like cleaning the registry, defragmenting the hard disk, and deleting unnecessary files.

My old Dell desk top with XP was just too slow to be useful. It was just too frustrating to use so I bought a new lap top. I have so much files and music on my desk top and really I was ready to take it to Staples to fix it AGAIN...but I saw this program. I figured better than spending about $200 to fix it. Best thing I did for my desk top computer for the cost...I did a total clean up and wow was I surprised how well my computer worked. I would say my PC is not perfect and I have to clean it up every few days, along with my virus scan but it was way worth the price. I can use it again on a regular basis. Just run the System Mechanic Total Care at night and Norton Scan and its good to go. One thing is you have to run it as the administrator if you have that on your system. Its not hard to learn. Good Luck.

I bought this tune-up software for my two computers. The laptop computer had some essential files removed when I started the program. The computer would no longer boot. Upon a trip to Best Buy, the Advanced Technician found that some files been deleted files had the computer had to be formatted, windows 10 reinstalled and all personal files and software were lost. This repair costed me over $200!! Now that the laptop runs fine!
