> 3 dayThis is what you need for SMD work, from the company whose name means solder.

> 3 dayI have been using this for guitar pedal PCB soldering and love it. Much quicker to melt with very shiny finish. Requires more cleanup than I expected due to the flux type, but it is easily wiped off with isopropyl alcohol.

> 3 dayThis is the very best solder I have ever used. It actually melts at low temperatures. If you have ever used some other brands, then you already know what I mean.

> 3 dayLook closely at the flux descriptions for Kester cored solders before buying. No Clean does not mean you dont have to clean up the flux residue. It means the flux does not provide any cleaning action. Kester #44 flux is an active cleaning rosin flux that works to remove oxide from the surfaces being soldered. The solder flows quickly when soldering components in a thru-hole plated PCB, minimizing the time and heat required to obtain a reliable joint. The SN63 version is a eutectic alloy. It goes directly from molten to solid, minimizing the chances of a cold solder joint, at a temperature lower than either tin or lead by itself. I dont worry about the lead, just dont eat while working and wash hands well after handling the raw solder wire. I keep a spool of 0.20 for board work and a spool of 0.31 for chassis connector work on hand. I have never felt the need for fancy boutique solders that cost 4X the price of Kester. Its reliable product that always gets the job done.

> 3 dayNever used 63/37 before, but needed to solder a miniUSB power socket onto a PCB. Hit all pins with no mess, and I used it to finish soldering the through-hole parts onto my project. It is now the only solder on my bench.
