> 3 dayThis review is not of the Kester solder, but the seller, Kimco Distributors. I ordered a 1 lb roll of Kester 44, and when it came the spool was covered in sloppy packing tape, and the actual solder spool had a birds nest. I take that term from bass fishing - its meant to describe the mess you get when you use a baitcasting reel (which has a spinning spool) and dont stop the rotation before your lure hits the water. As I pulled solder off this spool, it was coming out from underneath many layers of solder which was deeper into the roll, but physically on top. So I kept getting kinks. I managed to cut a bunch of it away (had to throw away solder) and got down to the deeper part of the spool, where it was coiled tightly, but now still, the solder is coming out from inside of the spool. Its possible that this was screwed up at the Kester factory, but I doubt it. Is this seller re-spooling their solder, and doing a sloppy job at it? It makes me question whether Ive really got genuine Kester 44 at all, in fact.

Greater than one weekIf you did not already know this is the best solder you can get for electronics projects. The mixture of 63/37 is the best for proper joints that are electrically sound. The fine gauge of this makes it a lot easier to control the amount of solder. Kester is a well known excellent brand. Prior to using this I had issues with either cold solder joints or poor contact at pads because cheaper solders were not bonding properly and making poor contact. I build amateur radio equipment at home and will not use anything except this solder. There are even some radio kit manufacturers that will not honor a warranty unless this solder is used. Great Stuff. The Seller is excellent too. Thy provided a great price and fast shipping with no problems at all. I went to their website afterward and found they carry a lot of great products and I would recommended them. They had the best price on the solder I could find too.

> 3 dayPrefer this smaller size for a lot of electronic work as it wicks better - does not ball up like .030 can. I do use .030 as well though. For most applications use this 63/37 not 60/40 it flows much better and gives a better looking joint

> 3 dayNight and day difference between this and dollar store solder. Works amazingly well with SMD components, melts and sticks to pads easily. Do yourself a favor and get reputable brand solder and maybe you will actually enjoy soldering for once!

> 3 dayWorks great on all my small soldering projects around the house. Ive used it on circuit boards and on joining wires and it melts and flows perfectly. I chose the 63/37 solder because 63/37 solder is made of 63% tin and 37% lead. It has a melting point of 183°C, slightly lower than the more common 60/40 blend. Eutectic solders like the 63/37 are easier to work with as there is no semi-solid point when melting it, like there is with 60/40 solder. Its worth the slightly higher cost if you are working with delicate electronics. It works great with my
