Greater than one weekWas looking for some good low lead solder and this fit the bill. Roll is sizable and will last me a long time soldering switches into keyboard PCBs. Easy choice here.

> 3 dayThe short version: Solder quality matters and you are going to have no problems soldering with this. You dont know what youre going to get quality wise with an off brand and its this solder is about the same price per lb as off brands in a smaller quantity. Why roll the dice? Youre not saving any money. It may be more solder than you need but think of it as a lifetime supply of it, then. The long version: I used to buy cheap solder. Its actually not really cheap. Im not going to pick on all things Chinese but I think its fair to say some cheap solder works well and some doesnt. Lets say you can find some solder for $5 shipped - 100 grams of solder. That works out to right at the same price as this. (100 grams is about 3.5 oz. 16 oz / 3.5 oz = 4.5 rolls of solder. ) What happens when you run out? Can you find the same stuff again? Maybe, maybe not. Kester has been making solder for longer than Ive been alive and Im almost 50. Youll always be able to find it and the important part is its going to work. The real problem is with lesser quality solder is that youre just going to have a hard time soldering with it. I was trying to solder two copper clad aluminum wires together with poor solder. I had to heat the wires for a very long time and the solder was globbing up and not flowing and I was starting to think it was impossible to solder CCA wire. I tried at least 10 times with poor results and melted the insulation repeatedly because it was taking me so long to try to get a joint. I googled it and found people proclaiming how difficult it can be to solder CCA. With my cheap solder I could do the same gauge copper easily but I found the CCA impossible. The first try with this solder I got a beautiful joint in about five or six seconds and a second or two to touch it up. Im never buying discount solder again.

> 3 day1 lb is economical size to buy. 0.031 diameter is great size to use for many soldering applications.

> 3 dayMost agree this solder is one of the best out there. I needed solder for an aircraft project, and I needed top quality. Ive used it on a number of projects in the aircraft thus far and gotten consistent and secure welds. Im no expert, and I selected this solder based on the reviews of others, but I doubt youll be disappointed with your purchase.
