I used this for sound deadening in a 1965 Mustang restoration. The sheets are somewhat compliant and very easy to install. I immediately notice the deadening effect as the metal drum effect at sheet metal panels was well damped. I have not run the car yet, so do not know about lasting adhesion, but it seems pretty tight.

The sound difference is minimal with only a single layer applied. I chose to add a second layer at every point where the base layer met and created a seam. That gives the rigidity I expect. This product does not reduce all sound. It simply adds rigidity to the sheet metal and stops rattles and tinny sounds. Adding a layer of acoustic foam padding under the carpet is still advised if total sound reduction is your goal. As measured with a caliper, the material is just over 2mm thick. 80mil = 2.2mm, so it is as thick as advertised. I still wish it was significantly thicker... It is about half as thick as the old factory stuff I peeled out of my truck. It is worth noting that I am working on a 97 F350 pickup. A modern car has considerably thinner metal and a single layer may work better on modern cars. There is a slight asphalt smell on the material. However, I have yet to notice it once installed. It just smells like fresh pavement out of the box. A handy tip, buy a cheap wooden spatula and use that for the initial fit before using a roller. It is much easier to manipulate into folds and reduce air bubbles. My advice, add an extra box to your order and plan to add a second layer at strategic points to achieve the result you desire. Otherwise, just pay the extra money and get a thicker product. But, for the price, adding a second layer is still probably the best value.

Before purchasing, I researched several manufacturers of Sound Deadening material. I drive a truck with off-road tires and enjoy quality sound from my radio without road noise interference. All of the leading manufacturers of sound deadening material use butyl rubber in various thicknesses. I bought the .80 ml thickness from Kilmat because of the positive reviews and the price. I installed the Kilmat material in all four doors and on the back firewall. While I don’t have a decibel meter to provide firm data, the decrease in road and tire noise after installation was noticeable and, in fact, I would say surprising and significant. I definitely enjoy driving on the highway more in a quiet vehicle. My guess is that it decreased road noise level by 30% or perhaps more. The key is to buy enough material to line the “inside” metal skin of your “outer” door as shown in the photos. In summary, the purchase was well worth the effort and cost.

I installed this in my 1969 Camaro to reduce the noise level while driving. I had already installed new carpet and insulation but it was still loud inside the car while driving. I removed everything and installed the Kilmat on the floor, inside the door panels, and inside the quarter panels. It truly made a huge difference and made me a believer in this product.

Its a good product. Am alternative to the dynamat. I only want to write this review because if the way most people use it is wrong. Its not supposed to cover the entirety of the interior panels. You apply this where there are large flat panels or where a piece of metal makes vibrations or resonates. There are more lightweight materials you can use for full coverage but if you add this everywhere its really just dead weight.

there is a asfalt smell in it, is it a butyl rubber or asfalt? i seal it with alimunium tape to stop the smell, and always i keep windows open , about noise concellation, i do the four doors, i didnot see any difference until now, the product is easy to cut, the adhesion is good, but i cant juge adhesion now. it need some time. the product is from russian federation, the manufacturer says that for thickness 80 mil ,the weight is 2.44 Kg/m², the weight of the small sheet 15.7inch x 9.8 inch =0.1 m² is 0.224kg => so the product that i receive is 2.24 kg/m² 200g less.
