This reminds me of Barnes n nobles original nook e-reader that came out before the Kindle. Personally Ive never been a fan of kindle and they ran nook into the ground. Almost like a more advanced tribute to it. Kobos software seems really user friendly. I easily purchase a book and began reading it. Free built in library is a nice touch. The way the e reader almost looks like a book on the page, the advanced brightness settings and overall lightweight feel of it it is just very appealing. Very happy with my purchase!

I love that it has physical page-turn buttons. The slight angle of the bit you hold is very nice, it gives easier access to the buttons and feels more like holding a book. Battery lasts a long time, and does not drain fast on standby. Sometimes the screen ghosts a little bit, but it clears up pretty quick.

I purchased this item, because I thought that it would be handy to be able to listen to audiobook, or to read the ebook. As a reader, this item is really quite good, and if that is what you want, it’s just fine. The reader is light and the letters are crisp. A bit of caution is that using the back light reduces the battery life, but that’s not too surprising . On the other hand, the audio function is a disaster. I downloaded a three audiobook set. Jumping to book 3, chapter 22 was so slow that I gave up. Actually, I’m not sure that it worked or can do that. My feeling is that the processed is not up to the task. You’re much better listening to an audiobook on a cell phone or a tablet. Moreover, a subscription for Kobo audio books is currently $9.95 a month and that’s not worth it wifi sluggish performance. A final issue is that the audio books and the ebooks do not automatically synchronize.

Kindle is similar but this one is a better price for same quality if not better. Love the white color it’s literally exactly what I wanted. Easy to hold and the app to buy books is super simple. Stop comparing and buy!!!!

This was a gift for my husband. I was considering Kindle but we wanted an easy downloadable format to be used in Cyprus. This Kobo is exactly what he wanted. Light, nice, easy to handle screen and with a huge memmory. He has already loaded tens of books.

The kobo doesn’t allow you to download other apps that have books on it. It does however let you borrow books from the library if you make an overdrive account. It is lighter than most eReaders. The screen is clear and can adjust the brightness. Not a bad eReader just wish it had more to offer.

So far, I have read Fitzgeralds The Great Gatsby, Dickens Great Expectations, Wildes The Importance of being Earnest, Homers Odyssey, Gilmans The Yellow Wallpaper, Joyces Ulysses, several Philip K. Dick short stories, and I am working my way through Homers Iliad. It fits in the back pocket of my Levis, and anytime Im waiting for an appointment or have a little down time, Im reading on it. BTW, a good source of older books is The Gutenberg Project -- they are all free!

3 stars of 5 — cant recommend purchasing at this price. Kobo is supposed to have three things going for it, when compared to the Amazon Kindle: (1) checking out library books; (2) less intrusive advertising; and (3) less tracking/selling of your personal data. It rates poorly in all three categories. As far as the core purpose, reading ebooks: this Kobo is every bit as good as the comparable Kindles. I like the shape and heft of it — its more substantial than the smaller Kindles, which is better for me. Theres more than enough lighting, font, and other options to keep me reading. Theres even a Dyslexic-style font, which helps many people who simply find it difficult to move from the printed page to ebooks. Checking out library books isnt that much easier on the Kobo, because the default search takes you to purchase options, so it takes several clicks to check out the book. I found it easier to find books on the Librarys site, and follow the prompt on the Kobo after... which is no different than for Kindle. Likewise, if you discount the Kindles screensaver adverts, the Kobo pushes you just as hard towards Kobo purchases as Amazon does towards its ecosystem. And as for privacy, its hard to independent evaluate the difference. Amazon makes a lot of money from data gathering, sharing, selling and its hard to imagine that Kobo can afford to turn all of that down. So in the end, I find the Kobo simply to be a more expensive competitor, without the UI (or privacy) benefits we might see if it were an Apple product. Consequently, I dont see much reason to go with Kobo unless you really dont want give more money to Amazon.

I ordered this Kobo after the Kindles latest changes to the user interface. I really couldnt stand the changes in the Kindle software. This is a great replacement for the Kindle. There are not pages and pages of ads on the home page. Navigation is simple and intuitive. The screen is crisp and high resolution. The comfort light is warm. Its light and fits in my hand comfortably. (The metal of the Kindle Oasis always kind of cut into my palm when I held it without the case.) Im not missing my Kindles at all!

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love my KOBO! I took it to the beach and the pool and it worked great, even when it got rained on!! It’s so light and easy to hold too.
