Leviton DW15A-1BW Decora Smart Wi-Fi Plug-in Outlet, Works with Amazon Alexa, No Hub Required

Great addition to my home! I purchased the Leviton Decora Smart Wifi Plug-in device specifically to control a table lamp in my entry way. We live in an large apartment building, our front door is accessed by an interior hallway. There are no windows in this area and its dark this time of year when we leave for work and return home. It feels safer and really so much more welcoming to come home and have the entry way lit. I also love not having to worry about leaving the lamp on all day and wasting electricity. Now my lamp turns on for about hour in the AM while Im getting ready for work, turns off after I leave and then is back on at sunset. The sunrise / sunset feature is genius! When the days start to get longer I wont even have to worry about adjusting my schedule, it will just keep working perfectly for what I need. And I paired it with our Amazon Alexa so as Im heading to bed I just tell her Alexa, turn off the hall way light. So easy! Setup took a minute or two. I simply plugged the device in the wall outlet, plugged in my lamp, downloaded the app. The app walked me through connecting to my home wifi and everything was up and running in a couple minutes. I also like that I can connect Levitons other products to the same app and control everything with Alexa too. I will probably look into the Decora Smart dimmer switches for my living room and bedroom as well. Also, I like that everything can be controlled over my own home wifi and the app. No need for an hub which is an extra step and an extra cost that I dont feel i need. I went with the Leviton product over other similar plug-ins for a couple reasons. I liked the way the this one looked vs some of the others, it seemed more sturdy. Leviton is also a well known brand when it comes to outlets and switches so I felt confident this product would be well made and it is. Plus they give a 5 year warranty! I wasnt seeing that offered with some of the other brands. Overall, a great answer to my problem of a dark entry way in my home. Easy to setup and it works exactly as it should. Couldnt be happier with my purchase and I might get another for my mom. She noticed it while visiting during xmas and thought she might like one for a lamp in her living room.

Works great with the wireless and smart phone for on and off. Its not good on keeping the scheduled on and off times if you shut it off before the scheduled time. Will not follow the programmed time schedule unless you unstall and re-install .

One works but plug slips in and out - there is nothing in plug receptacle to hold plug and lamp does not get power. The other one will not connect to Samsung Smart Hub & Echo Alexa. I have 10 total in my house so I m very familiar with resetting them and connecting. Not sure if these were refurbs or just a bad batch but they need returning.

After a minor glitch and a little tweaking the WiFi outlet is now performing perfectly. The procedures to enable the unit are straightforward and clearly detailed in the Getting Starting insert. Briefly, I loaded the My Leviton app from the Apple App Store. It went through a six step process to configure the device and the app. It was fairly quick, taking under five minutes, but it hung-up on the last step so I was forced to cancel and start over. The second attempt completed without incident and since I wanted Alexa to control the outlet I started the Alexa app which was already loaded on my iOS device. This outlet can be used without Alexa but it requires a WiFi network. In that app I went to Settings, Skills and added the My Leviton skill. Then I went to Settings, Smart Home and under the skill just added I selected Discover Devices. The outlet appeared on the list and I closed the app. Final step is to request Alexa to turn on or turn off, in this case, a lamp. I attempted to use the default name provided by the manufacturer for the outlet but it is lengthy and cumbersome – something like Leviton outlet 366. But, when I asked Alexa to turn on the outlet the name was not recognized. So, after a few failed attempts I went back into the My Leviton app and changed the name of the device to one that is short, easy to say and understand. So, far very pleased. It is convenient to turn the light on and off with a simple verbal command and I appreciate being able to use Alexa in an expanded capacity. Currently functioning without issue.

I bought this remote wireless off/on plug for my sons lights which hang in his room. He uses Alexas voice command to turn them off and on. Easy set up with his iPhone! I would highly recommend it for a simple wireless on/off solution. This is not a dimmer.

Very easy to set up. Works like a champ!

Easiest setup with a device that is WiFi capable yet for me. Took 5 mins max to read instructions and have it fully working. I set it up to a main light in living room and it’s so easy now to turn on/off when I’m already settled on couch or in bed. My family loves that they also have capability to use this also.

Updated review: 4 stars Ive had four of these installed for between 1-2 yrs each. After this time one has died - its non responsive and cant be reset always has a green light. Im waiting for a response from leviton but I assume theyre going to tell me tough luck and buy another. I updated my router with a ubiqiti access point and it works well with all the switches and plugs, however I had to manually reset the wifi on each one to get them to work. Kind of a pain. I still like these and am going to try the mini plugs next. They really updated the app recently and you can now set schedules for individual switches/plugs easily and based on sunset/sunrise. That simplified things for me quite a bit. original review: 4 stars Great product that functions well. Lets you turn on lights, fans, whatever you plug into it remotely from your phone. DO NOT BUY THESE USED FROM AMAZON WAREHOUSE. THEY WILL NOT BE USABLE. Only minor annoyance I have is that the app seems to log me out frequently, so I have to log back in. Its also not super fast, but I can deal with that.

I used to use WeMo products but was so tired of the devices showing offline and when I needed to change a scheduling rule, I had to delete the rule and re-create it; it would never save changes to an existing rule. The Leviton system works perfectly! I now have 2 Smart WiFi plugs and 3 Smart WiFi Light Switches. I will be adding alot more as they are needed for sure! My only gripe with the Leviton, I cannot seem to find a way to schedule on/off with 1 rule using specific times. I have to create a rule to turn the devices on at a specific time and another rule to turn the devices off at a specific time. Seems like an oversight to me.

Hard to program and when I moved to anothet lamp, it wouldnt work AGAIN!
