> 3 dayDoes not need any installed software to work, it works right out of the box on Mac, Windows, and Linux (I use it for all three). No issues at all, though if you accidentally click the DPI buttons it can take a minute to get your cursor speed fixed again. Overally this is a really good mouse. I was skeptical because it seems they do not sell this model directly to the USA for some reason, so you have to buy it from a third party vendor who re-imports it from overseas (??? not sure how this works), but the mouse is legit. The only thing I do miss is the option for a free-spinning scroll wheel like in the MX500 series, but I have gotten by just fine so far without it.

> 3 dayMy old MX518 became victim of the infamous loose cable disease [which Im trying to fix because its one of best mouses (mices?) out there in the wild]. I decided to give this newer version a try but was skeptical of its quality due to the low low price point. Ive been using it moderately for close to a year now. At first it felt pretty much like its predecessor but over time its beginning to feel cheap, especially the scroll wheel. Its fine, though, for the price. I wish the original mice from that era that are out of print (MX518, G400, G9) werent so darn expensive *sad face*

> 3 dayThis is it... the last mouse you will ever need. Once youre done playing with the 200,000 DPI nonsense with RBG glowly lights, you can settle on this timeless classic. Its solid hardware, solid switches, comfortable in your hand, and does everything you need all in one package. Ive owned a few dozen mice and at one time even collected them, this is the one.

> 3 dayI first bought an MX518 when they first came out 15(?) or so years ago. I have owned 2 or 3 over the years. It is simply the best mouse ever made. They even discontinued it at one point and people were selling used ones on ebay for $200. Its the IBM Model M (keyboard) of mice. Absolute classic. Recommended to many people and all loved it.

> 3 dayThe mouse is fine, but why did they have to make the buttons high gloss? It means my fingers constantly stick to the surface and it feels terrible. The G502 and G602 are much more enjoyable to use, plus I miss the thumb rest on those mice which is sorely missing on the MX518. Overall this mouse is very meh.

> 3 dayGenerally good. But the scroll wheel is not very accurate.

> 3 daythought id try this new G MX518 for my 2nd setup. the cheaper construction wouldnt be a problem but the left click is awful. My now 10+ year old original MX518 is still working perfectly fine. on depressing the left click, it kind of gets stuck halfway up and theres a plasticky noise like its scraping against something. makes it so when clicking a lot, there are some missed clicks due to some times when the left click didnt fully depress. this issue isnt present with the right click, nor with my original 10+ year old MX518. Save your money.
