Had another brand I got from a friend and they weren’t that reliable or hooked up to Apple HomeKit. These do and they are so fast! There’s no delay when pressing the button on my iPhone. Love that! Would highly recommend if you are looking to get your house outlet plugs hooked up with HomeKit for cheap.

One of the four has very weak internals. When I plug anything into it, it falls out like an old outlet. Doesnt hold on to the prongs

Getting them added to HomeKit and updated to the latest firmware is enough to make you rage and want to return them. 2 hours later, they’re finally working. I work in IoT device industry and even I was having a hard time.

It took several attempts to get this to install properly with Apple Home Kit. Tried the supplied app and through Apple Home. Finally got it installed through Apple Home and its run flawlessly since.

Ordered these to control some indoor Christmas lights. I was excited about them until a coworker told me he had had many issues with them disconnecting from the WiFi and you had to unplug/replug them ever few days. Sure enough, this started happening to me within the first few days. However, I noticed there was a firmware update that needed installing. Once I installed that, everything worked perfectly and we never lost wifi signal again. I told my coworker and he updated his, and although he was skeptical and said he had already been through several firmware updates that never fixed the problem, a few days later he admitted that things now seemed fine on his end too. So now that the firmware is taken care of these seem to work great. If you have issues, make sure you update the firmware via the app.

I had to reboot my wifi router and after that the plugs wont reconnect. removed them from the app and tried to add them back and that doesnt work anymore. avoid these if you want something reliable

The pairing process was a bit goofy (it is easier to just plug the outlets in and then join the ad-hoc wifi network from the device before doing anything else). I now have these devices working 100% reliably with both HomeKit as well as the Meross App. The low price, relatively compact size, and (now that they are working) instant response via HomeKit make these a winner in my view. HomeKit Problem and Solution: Via the Meross app, everything was working great, but the HomeKit status and control was very spotty. It would work for a few minutes and then the outlet would randomly be declared no response via HomeKit. After a bit of research and fiddling, I realized that my network was not playing well with the low level communication that Apple uses for HomeKit. In general: - Your wifi access points need to forward multicast DNS (mDNS) between 2.4g and 5g networks - Your wired network needs to forward mDNS between the wifi devices and any wired devices you are using with HomeKit (such as an AppleTV). - If you have an advanced home network with separate VLANs for IOT devices such as these outlets, then you will need a multicast reflector to forward the multicast traffic from the IOT VLAN to the VLAN where your mobile devices are located (for example, your iPhone / iPad / AppleTV). This can be as easy as ticking a box in the router/switch, or it could be a very long journey. Depending on how complicated your home network is, this will all just work without any effort, might require finding the correct setting in a WiFi AP or router, or might not work at all. In my case, I had to go into my UniFi controller and select Enable multicast enhancement (IGMPv3) under Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings. After this setting was pushed out to my UniFi APs, HomeKit was working perfectly from all of my iPhones and these outlets. Update: I also had to disable “airtime fairness” on my UniFi 2.4g radio settings.

These are very easy to set up once you understand the process. You run the Home app, add an accessory, and scan the Q-code with your phone. Next you immediately plug it into an open plug so that the device can be found via WiFi. I recommend doing this with an easily accessible plug *near* your WiFi router initially before taking it to its destination. Why? The set up can take longer with a plug farther away and sometimes it would not complete when further away. So I would have to bring it closer, and try again. Once the plug is added, you can easily take it further away without any operational issues (so long as you are in WiFi range of course).

I have around ten Meross smart items. A few Plugs and Blubs. When they stay connected and work, theyre truly amazing. But sadly, they often lose WIFI connection which requires a reset. Resetting the device is an absolute hassle as you need to delete the device(s) from the Meross or HomeKit app and then attempt to re-add them. Re-adding a device thats already been added can be a real headache as the connection will fail and claim the device already exists even though its been removed. I often need to complete the setup process many, many, many times before it will actually work and the device appears in my ecosystem again. When I finish writing this review, I need to attempt to reconnect 2 smart plugs and 1 bulb. This will be my fourth attempt this morning and the third time Ive had to do this process in the two weeks that Ive owned the devices. Be mindful, if you have MANY Meross devices, they all need to be connected/reconnected INDIVIDUALLY which can be time-consuming. Ill still continue to purchase Meross plugs and Bulbs but I honestly home the coming Firmware updates resolve this insanity.
