10-06-2025This was a great product combined with the Neat Receipts desktop software and the they decided to water it down with forcing users to use Neat Cloud. This is a case of good company too arrogant for their own good. The last desktop version is slim down of neat cloud. Here are the top issues. 1. No, you cannot use files created by previous versions. Have to import everything. 2. The software fails to scan and OCR a single document, yes just 1 page document 3. Ah the import, does not work. It may show something imported but no psd files 4. There is is no way you can add custom columns to see complete information. You have to open each individual line item and fill in the fields. That too has limitations as all the fields are not visible and you have to click again to open that view. Now why would you take a functional in-line editing and make adding I formation almost impossible. 5. You cannot add one note or some times one drive could account b/c they keyboard never shows up. I loved this software and my neat scanner since it was a useful tool to run my business. I would gladly pay subscription fee as well but at least there should be some useful functionality. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone who wants to get any work done.

Greater than one weekInitially this worked great. It really helped me to go paperless and move everything to the cloud...until a couple of months ago it stopped being able to upload to Evernote. Apparently a lot of people are having the same problem because the discussion boards are full of some really upset people. The company isnt very good at communicating what they are doing to fix the problem or if they are doing anything to fix the problem. Emails to them only generate canned responses.

> 3 dayThe concept behind this neat scanner is excellent. Execution is somewhat lacking.. The keyboard entry has many problems. When you push one letter a different letter will show up on the screen, sometimes a letter push bounces that is to say you will push ones and get two or more letters. That is my major complaint. Otherwise I feel the unit does a good job and is a good early effort in the sophisticated scanning market.

> 3 dayGreat looking product, loved all the marketing information & what it could do - felt like it was a bargain. But I was unable to connect the scanner & get it working (I am an ex-techie with a better than average technical grasp on hardware / software). I couldnt connect - tried USB / Wireless / 2 different machines / factory resets etc. So I thought Id try Neat Technical Support. Like most companies they hide their support number. I tried to Chat (message said they closed at 6pm even though it was 5.45pm) - I tried their phone number but eventually got the message I needed to submit a support ticket. When trying to submit a support ticket, there was no submit button available (using MSFT Edge). Felt like a conspiracy! None of their self help actually tell you what to do if it doesnt work - only how it SHOULD work. For $300+ I expected better. Terrible experience & Im sending it back.

> 3 dayFirst and foremost, if you want to use this scanner with your business or in an enterprise environment, just dont do it... In fact if you want to use this more than about 12 times in a year it is NOT the right scanner for you! We have 2 of them being used in an enterprise environment and theyre both dreadful devices. This is a poorly constructed, poorly programmed piece of consumer level garbage. Its so slow at times you must wait 15-20 seconds for the display to react to touch input, some of its settings get wiped if it gets rebooted and as a added bonus it jams up at least once a week... Like bad jam that requires tools and lots of time to fix. And the icing on the cake? Ive seen companies with bad customer service or support, this company has no customer service or support. I tired calling the number and their cumbersome phone system just hangs up on me because it cant find my account... Cool. Done with this garbage.

> 3 dayWe purchased this scanner with high hopes, which were set from doing a LOT of investigation into scanners of this sort. But, Neat won out against the competitors, because it claimed to be the best at integrating with QuickBooks Online. It did integrate but it was more like using Dropbox and a regular old scanner than anything special, as the marketing would suggest it is. Also, our scanner broke a couple of months later. And, it could never hook up to the internet...not once...ever. Because we not only were sold a lie, but also the machine never worked right and now is truly just broken, we contacted Neat. We dont want the machine. It is worthless. They will not help us. We bought it through Amazon, so they blame Amazon. But, this is not appropriate as #1. it is a Neat problem, #2 it wasnt an Amazon product - it was a Neat product (sold by Neat thru Amazon). Then, they said its been too long. We only had 1 month to make a decision if it was worth it. Ridiculous. I want my money back. It was a bad sale and isnt making anyone happy and Neat customer service is doing nothe

> 3 dayIt is actually not the scanner I hate but the software. It does not read and interpret the information well. When exporting a file from neat to my computer as a pdf file 50% of the time I end up with a blank page that when I try to open it I get a message saying there is an error on the page. It makes more work rather than less. Extremly upset that I spent all this money on this piece of junk.

> 3 dayUPDATE: I have now had it for about two years! I love it. You do have to pay extra for the storage on neat desk but I just have my files go directly to my dropbox or email address as pdf instead. It is great for my real estate documents, saving warranty papers etc. My fax/scanner/copier is so much slower and will not handle near the workload of this scanner. I am very happy that I have it and although it was pricy I probably would have spent a lot more trying to find other scanners to match the speed. It is small, easy to set up and you can move it around if that makes your life easier. I usually just keep mine in the study but I could put it by the mail or other areas that I use frequently. TIP: When doing documents like real estate contracts of 20plus pages you can reduce to 150dpi and are able to fit in a pdf file that emails can handle. If you scan larger files they get kicked out. Still alot more than you could have ever done with a multi machine and at very fast speeds. CONS: I havent found it to be awesome with photos. I mean I may not be doing it correctly but I think my HP multi machine does better in that aspect. I have both so it really isnt an issue for me. The buttons on the screen alpha numeric are tiny. I have skinny fingers but I still use a stylus to set up email addresses. Once set up and in address books it is much easier. FIRST WEEK REVIEW BELOW: Have had it a week and so far I love it. It is easy to scan in. Had a couple glitches where it would need to be turned on then back on to see paper but Im sure Ill figure that out. Easy to set up wifi in my office and portable enough to take home and use as well. Have done photos and paperwork, receipts and business cards with easy so far.

> 3 dayFast scan. Good quality. No computer to worry about for my wife. Just scan and file the .pdfs later when you have time. E-mail or to the cloud. But, the keyboard on the screen is too small and is very hard to type correctly, so it is cumbersome to type in an e-mail address. Also, the paper sometimes gets stuck and doesnt feed well into the machine. Just straighten the paper back out and re-feed.
