> 3 dayFirst let me explain that this isnt a remake of the original Super Mario Bros. Instead, its a try into revitalizing the once great Super Mario Bros. series. This game is influenced by Super Mario Bros. with the each stages gameplay and finish pole. Its influenced by Super Mario Bros. 3 with its map layout of each world, along with its toad houses and hammer dudes walking around. Its influenced by Super Mario World with some stages backgrounds and gameplay elements including the climbing on the fences. The graphics for this game are very nice. All the characters are rendered in 3d as well as some of the backgrounds. They blend nicely together. No complaints. Mario and Luigi look different from each other this time around. Just as they should. I didnt pay too much attention to sound, but one thing that did annoy me was what Mario said after finishing each level. Well.. what is sounded like he said was, Thank you so nice! which is irritating to hear so many times. The english is so bad, that its unbearable. Now onto the lackluster part. The gameplay. The game is easy. Not only that, but they provide you with a crap load of power ups beyond the ones in the stages, making it even easier. If that werent enough, they also keep 2 out of the 8 worlds as an unlockable secret. But wait, if youre lucky enough, you might also accidentally discover a way to only do 3 worlds before getting to world 8. So, chop the game in less than half and thats its length. And youre done. Its way too easy and it seems like they dont even want you to play through the game. And then on top of that, theres a lackluster ending. Is there any motivation to complete the other worlds? No! The levels arent even challenging. I had 50 lives after 3 worlds. Nintendo knows how non-challenging the game is. Thats why you cant save when you want, just every time you complete a castle or spend star-coins. And thats annoying. So much for a pick up and play game. To spice things up, each stage has 3 stars-coins to collect, some of which require some thinking, but most are easy. And what do they do, give you powerups to make the game even easier. You dont have to collect the stars, its pointless. You could collect them only for collectings sake. There are also red coins to collect. They give you powerups as well for collecting them within the given time limit. It cant get any easier. This game features 3 power ups not included in any other mario game. First you can grow to super size. They give you this way too often and what does this do, it gives you up to 5 lives, the amount depending on how much destruction you cause. Save those for levels filled with bricks its easy lives. The 2 other power-ups are worthless. One that makes you really tiny, useless against enemies makes this one just for finding secrets. The problem is that they almost never give this power-up to you in the level where the secrets are at. So youll have to go find one where there is and play that level to get it. This becomes quickly annoying. The other powerup gives you a turtle shell so you can slide like a turtleshell against enemies. Since the flower is much easier to play with, this powerup goes to help acquire secrets in stages that, also dont provide the powerup. Fetch it boy. This ones rare. Super annoying. The castle boss battles are also easy. If you get to the boss with fire powerup, which is super easy to do, since you can always carry a spare poweup with you, that you cant lose by dying, and call upon it whenever you need it, the boss becomes very little of a challenge. Even the final boss battle at the end of the game was easy. Sometimes all you need is super mario so that you dont die crossing the bridge to the other side to drop the bridge. The mini games are recycled from Super Mario 64 DS and so is the multiplayer from every other mario game. So this should last you a bit (sarcasm). Great extras Nintendo! (more sarcasm). It would have been nice if you included the original super mario bros as a nice extra. But what am I thinking, that wouldve been a good idea. VERDICT This game is Disappointing. Its short and easy. It seemed nice in the first world, until it got too repetitive and easy. If you want to play a Mario game better than this, go play super mario advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. The game looks, feels, sounds, and breathes like a super mario game. In fact, the game is fun to play, but its flaws are too much for me and thats why I wouldnt buy it. Otherwise it would be a great game. You know its easier to find the secret to skipping the game than it is to find the secret to unlock the hidden 1/4. Doesnt that suck.

> 3 dayOne of the best nintendo games I have ever played! I love how it gives me the nostalgic feels of the old mario games, with the graphics and extras that still make it feel new and fresh. Love it.

> 3 dayAwesome and affordable. I was really happy that it shipped in a timely fashion for Christmas that year. The only thing that keeps me from giving that final star is the fact that I almost threw it away with initial unboxing. The package was a small shipping envelope and inside it was filled with brown packing paper. The little chip was just hanging out in that wad of paper.

> 3 dayI bought this game several years ago when the DS first came out. My comment here is about Amazons search engine. I specifically stated PS4 games.... yet Amazon threw that request out the window and brought up games for ALL systems! I guess Amazon must have a webmaster with an IQ in the low 2 digit range! THIS particular game is good for the DS, but I wasnt looking for DS games....the first two pages were everything EXCEPT PS4 games!! What a doofus he or she must be!!!

> 3 dayI ordered this game for my grandson to be played on his DSi game system. It was shipped and received in a timely manner and my grandson is very happy with it. The graphics are clear and the game is a fun one to play. I dont know much about playing these games but watching my grandson play this one has been fun. It has a lot of different, challenging levels of play. I would recommend this game for anyone interested in playing a Mario Bros. game, and I would also suggest they use Amazon.com as the place from which to order it.

08-06-2025One of the best portable Mario games ever created in my opinion, the game is challenging, frustrating and genuinely exciting at times. The controls are more tighter and responsive than they have ever been, and I think this game is superior to New SMB 2, which was a bit too easy.

> 3 dayIts amazing how quickly things come back to you. I got this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. He has gotten better at it over the past month, but I seem to be the one who plays it most. lol It reminded me of the one I had on my old nintendo and I myself have already beaten it. However, it will take my son much longer. I must also admit that weve looked some things up on the net.

> 3 dayI am 36 years old. My son is 6 years old. We both play this and have a blast. I have played all the NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, and Wii Mario games. This game utilizes everything from the earlier SMB games and adds some new things. It has levels that pay tribute to old levels (ie: 8-7 is different but reminiscent of 8-7 in the original SMB). There is even a level that has floors similar to the original Mario Bros arcade game. In my opinion, this is the best 2D Mario game out. The level design and fun factor in this game is off the charts. In fact, it inspired me to get some old classic handheld mario games...Super Mario Land 1,2, and 3 and the Wario Land games for the GB/GBC. Ive heard great things about those and Im looking forward to playing them. In case anyone is wondering...this is a different game than New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii...they both contain completely different levels. The Wii version allows up to 4 players to play on the same Wii at the same time...its a fun game, but I like this DS game better. There are 3 save slots, so my son has his own save and I have my own. He loves the game but has trouble after world 3, so I have to help him through some of the more difficult parts. He loves the minigames and begs me to play them with him. If you have 2 DS systems and 1 cartridge, then you can play the minigames against each other which is fun. I cant say I love the minigames as much as he does, but they are fun, quick, and it makes him happy. I just finished the main game a few minutes ago and it was a blast from beginning to end. Each world is easy enough for casual gamers to get through and there are 3 coins in each level to collect...collecting all these coins gives more challenge for the more advanced gamer. The game got more difficult around world 6, so I went back through the earlier worlds again to collect those coins and to build up my extra lives. Then I came back to finish the game. To complete the game, you only have to go through 6 of the 8 worlds...the other 2 worlds have to be unlocked somehow. Now that I completed the game, I need to go back and collect all those coins and unlock the two worlds I havent gotten to yet.

> 3 dayThis game has several levels and two worlds that are hidden! It is a game that will keep you playing even after beating it for the fun or to be able to collect the 3 star coins that are in each level! The game has great music while playing and progressively gets harder in a way that players can improve. This game is perfect for anyone whether you have experience in a Mario bros. games or not. You can also play as Luigi in this game and there are also mini-games when you feel like playing them and multiplayer for playing with others that also have the game. Overall it is a great game and although there are shortcuts to beat the game quick, you can always replay levels or new levels that you havent yet discovered.
