13-06-2025All in all great cooler. At first I didnt believe all the hype about Noctua but I think Im going to be a loyal customer now. I was looking to replace the stock cooler on my Ryzen 5 3600 as it was just running a bit too hot with the stock cooler getting to 70c+ and staying there after an hour or two of gameplay or heavy work load. The install of this cooler was extremely simple compared to some of the beefy tower coolers I bought in the past. After the install the ryzen 5 3600 doesnt go past 60c underload if it does its quick put back to 50c range within seconds. The fan is extremely quiet and feels very high quality. The build of the cooler is solid. However I did bend one of the fins by accident (my fault I think though as the fan clips were putting up a fight) nothing major though. Im glad noctua finally made an all black cooler it looks great in my build. They give you everything you need (thermal paste, etc) for the install. You will need the AM4 original backplate that came with your mobo however.

> 3 dayI am disappointed in my 3700x, full blast does not even cause the pipes or fins to heat up. It peaks core temperature to 70c with ambient 25c when all cores running at 4.05ghz stressed.

09-06-2025I built a PC several years ago with an ASUS ROG Maximus VI Gene motherboard, an Intel I7-4770K CPU and 32 Gb G Skill Trident DDR3 2400 RAM. The stock CPU maintained a baseline temperature of ~50 C, and would throttle above 80 C. After installing this new Noctua NH-U12S chromax.Black cooler, baseline temperature is ~38 C, and the max temperature Ive seen so far is about 60 C. After installation I realized that despite my mATX motherboard, I still had room for an addition 120mm fan on the cpu cooler, which I added. Both fans idle at ~350-400rpm, and are very quiet, the motherboard increases CPU fan speed when needed but still very quiet. I also have 4 quiet case fans each running at ~600rpm.

Greater than one weekI really had no problems installing and using this cooler. The installation process was made easy. While working on the computer I maintain cool airflow and while gaming with some overclocking my temperatures stay nice and low. This cooler is a great option for maintaining low temperatures with a nice sleek professional look.

Greater than one weekKeeps my R5 3600 very cool, even when overclocked and is quiet as can be, not a single complaint from me.
