RaceFace 104mm Single Chain Ring

Great quality chainring. 30t was the smallest I could go with my cranks and works well with a 1x10 setup 11-42t cassette.

Works perfect. Converted 1 year old xt 10 speed to 1x with 30t and Wolftooth. No other items needed. No skipping and gearing is perfect for me.

Dont get put off by 4-stars. I believe that 5-stars should be for live-changing products. That said, I like this chain ring about as much as you could like any chain ring. I am an avid mountain biker of 20 years and I do all of my own work. I recently picked up a Giant Faith 0 with a 1x9, but the 36T it had in the front wouldnt cut it for the rolling hill rides of SoCal. The quality on this ring is nice. It fells thick an well made and I suspect it will last about as long or longer than any of the aluminum rings out there. The wide/narrow tooth pattern seems to be working as Ive had it on for several weeks now and havent dropped a chain yet (I am an aggressive rider.) I like the fact that Race Face offers several color patterns to choose from, so I was able to match my green frame with style. I dont normally worry much about that sort of thing, but it was a nice touch. There is something that you need to be aware of if you are ordering the 30T. The mounting has to allow for the width of the chain, so it has a several mm offset. My other ring didnt, so I had to get creative with spacing. You may find yourself needing longer bolts and potentially spacer at the cranks - especially if you are combining this with a chain guide. Also note that you may have to take off your cranks to install this as it may not fit over the mounting arms from the outside. None of these things are deal breakers, but just know that you might need some crank tools and it may not be a simple as a 5-minute 1 for 1 swap. Once mounted, though, I think you will enjoy the robust feel, how well it holds your chain, and will be sporting a little bit of bling as well.

Was not able to mount chainring with standard size chainring bolts. The holes are just slightly too small for any of the chainring bolts that I have. Im not sure what size chainring bolts this chainring needs since chainring bolt sizes are pretty universal. Then again, its possible that Im just being dumb, given that 400 other people seem to have installed these chainrings without any trouble. Edit: took the chainring to my local bike shop. They dug around in their shop and found some bolts that fit. They said they had never seen this issue before. Based on the information they were able to glean from their distributors website, it appears that its only the 30 tooth chainring that has this issue.

I just bought this chainring and couldnt be more excited about it. When I ordered it my shipping conformation said it would take 10 days to get to me... Not prime eligible... Bummer, anyway, needless to say got it in 4 business days! Great company. On to the product I slapped it on my mtn bike the day I got it and rode it the next day. I ride pretty hard and am always pushing myself to my limit (damn Strava). I rode today and I beat my best Strava time at a local trail by 2 minutes. The exceleratin with the 104mm 34t ring is explosive compared to what I was using. Its not only a nice piece to look at but its robust and beefcake for the harder riding. Best upgrade to my bike to date!

I used to run a chain guide which was annoying in wet or muddy conditions because it was grind on the chain. No more chain guide required for this. Ive lost my chain 3-4 times in a few hundred miles which is not bad at all in my mind. If you were a racer, it might be a problem but Im ok with it. Also really nice to have a quality chain ring option in a 30T. Allows me to run that one extra gear for the big uphills.
