09-06-2025It is hard to beat the looks and functionality of this case. The safe power off and reset buttons are awesome and greatly simplify using RetroPie for those who don’t realize shutting off a pi without shutdown is a great way to get a corrupt SD card. The reason for 3 stars is because of the poor quality of the materials used in the kit. The fan is loud and I constantly would get low voltage warnings which led to stuttering in games. I ended up simply unplugging the fan as the temps are in an acceptable range without it. As for the low voltage issues, I did as others suggested and bought the recommended power supply but I still continued to have the same problems. I read several other reviews online and found a youtube video of how someone replaced the wires between the plug board where it connects on the outside to the main power distribution board. I used some old wire from a PC power supply that was thicker gauge wire and soldered it on and the low voltage problems went away! I can’t believe that the manufacturer would skimp on something as simple as a wire and blame it on a power supply being shoddy. Really disappointed that this is something I had to do just to get it working. I’m not exactly great at soldering but I got it fixed. I’ve casually used my RetroPie over the past few years since I bought it but I wish I had done this mod to fix the voltage problem a long time ago.

> 3 dayGreat product, however the fan is horrible. Id pay extra for a quieter fan so please consider upgrading this with something better. The other issue is under-voltage due to the accessories that comes with the case. I dont even have a fan hooked up and Im getting under-voltage warnings. I swapped power supplies, SD cards and still the same issue.

> 3 dayThis is exactly what one needs for a great retropie setup! The USB up front, ease of access to the MicroSD card, an on and off button, and this case comes with a fan, all of the screws, and even a screwdriver! The instructions were sufficient but I would worry that some of my friends intimidated could be intimidated by them. It would have been great if it came with instructions to find the scripts for the fan or color indicators for the fan wiring. All in all, a great product at an incredible price!

> 3 dayI absolutely love this little thing. Really high quality build; comes with everything you need to assemble. My only complaint is that the screws with the fan are a little too long, and they left marks on the top of the case when tightened completely; be cautious not to over tighten fan screws! Highly recommend this product!

> 3 dayExactly as advertised, and the soft power and reset work perfectly once the scripts are installed. I had zero problems getting it set up, just take your time putting everything together so you dont have to take the pi back out be ause you forgot something.

> 3 dayPhenomenal looks so good sitting under my tv. Cleans up the wires from the original Pi case. Bought several to give to my family for Christmas!

> 3 dayWell this case is indeed a well fitting, sturdy case that has everything you need to house a raspberry pi (3 b+ in my instance). The single instruction sheet is a bit lacking. After some youtube I found my answers, but hope they consider these for future manuals: 1) which way does the fan go? the techie in me says label facing up (which it is), but new tinkers will not know that. 2) where do the heatsinks go? the 2 finned ones go on the black chips on top that are its size. the 3rd copper one goes on the black chip on the bottom. If i didnt look at a video I could easily see someone putting one in the wifi shield that has a raspberry logo on it (dont do that) 3) which was does the harness go? after looking at the diagram a few times they do designate that with the holes. A red wire going to the first pin instead of all white would help ALOT, and cost no extra as red ink is already used. 4) Do I leave the safe shutdown off or on? If you just want a on and off switch and dont want to load scripts leave it off. The reset will also just temporally kill the power until you release it. If you want to load the script for software power etc then turn it on otherwise it wont work as intended. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the case build wise and would buy again without hesitation. Until they Hopefully update the instructions for new and seasoned users alike I do hope the above tips help.

> 3 dayFirst off, this case is awesome! High quality feel, easy assembly, and once the setup script for power buttons is run, they function just as advertised! *There is one problem though and that is with wireless device dongles plugged in to the Nespi+ USB ports. (Xbox 360 wireless adapter, USB wireless keyboard adapter, etc..) With the current RetroPie 4.14, very large log files are generated continuously, and they eat up space on memory card until its full! 3 GBs in 30 minutes fast... Wired devices are fine though. > Until a permanent fix is deployed with RetroPie, you can plug another simple USB hub (like a laptop travel hub) into the Nespi+, and then your wireless adapters plug in to that. Its not ideal, but it allows you to use Xbox 360 controllers without killing your SD card until its fixed. (You could also revert to the previous release Ive heard) **Additional tip, if you are not in the UK, you may need to set your keyboard profile to US (or whatever region you are) in order to get the and | keys required for the safe shutdown script from command line on the Raspberry Pi directly. If you see @ instead of after striking the keyboard key, this applies to you! (mostly heads up for the new to Pi users) There is a YouTube video by ETAPrime that walks you through that. All that said, I still give this case 5 stars because its that awesome!

Greater than one weekGot this to replace my old NESPi case after it got taken out in a lightning strike. Love the design improvements. Not having to hunt down the proper fan was a nice touch with the kits. The only thing I don’t care for is the sizing on the case screws. I specifically wanted the screwdriver because I can’t find a P1 screwdriver around the house that fits the holes.

> 3 dayThe fan screws will break through the top of you aren’t careful. I can’t get the power button to work as a shutdown, but other than that, it looks great and works as it should.
