> 3 dayIf you work with metal you know how difficult it can be to remove mill scale. This product does an excellent job and does not become ineffective after a few minutes. It also leaves a nice finish on the steel. It is also effective in removing rust. I do wish it would last longer but still worth the reduction in aggravation.

> 3 dayI used this to remove *heavy* mill scale from all the surfaces of a 10” piece of W8x40 I-beam. It took probably 65% of the disc to do it but it did an outstanding job. 3M states it’s only for light mill scale; mill scale doesn’t come much heavier than what I used it on. And no danger of cutting into the good steel or dishing it.

10-06-2025Paint stripper is for the birds and people who like gunk all over your project. Did the bottom of the boat with paint stripper and it took me 3 days. Switched to a grinder and this disk and had the whole exterior done in 1 day. This disk worked insanely well on my jon boat project! Lots of swirls but irrelevant for me as I am going to prime and paint. Definitely order 4 more than you think youre going to need.

> 3 dayI did some online research and noticed that a lot of people rated this 3M wheel very highly for removing mill scale from structural steel. They are right. Its like the magic eraser for welders. Much faster than wire brushes. Not as obnoxious as acid methods. Buy one. You wont regret it.
