The Scotch-Brite wheel is a great addition. It works excellent for taking off mill scale. Does not clog easily and does not wear too fast a great tool for cleaning metal preparing for welding or painting well worth the money.

I bought this disk to remove mill scale and light rust. It does do a good job cleaning both, but it wears out rather quickly. I purposely used light pressure hoping to make it last. I will not buy another one.

Did not hold up as well as I hoped. Bought to strip mill scale on some plate steel. May work on lighter mill scale, but didn’t hardly touch mill scale on 3/4 plate.

Like the clean up work this does. Durability is good too. Will buy again, would recommend.

If you work with metal you know how difficult it can be to remove mill scale. This product does an excellent job and does not become ineffective after a few minutes. It also leaves a nice finish on the steel. It is also effective in removing rust. I do wish it would last longer but still worth the reduction in aggravation.

Found this on a YouTube video - its the only think Ive seen that removes mill scale without removing underlying material.

Purchased both the green and purple discs to remove paint and rust on a trailer repaint project. The green discs work very well for primarily paint removal not “coarse” enough for rust. The purple discs worked very well at both paint and rust removal. Lighter rust came off very easily, the heavy, deep pitted rust took more effort but removed enough to make other rust removal effective. With some effort too, mill scale on sheet metal came off. The pads last for a pretty long time even while taking off heavy rust. Very impressed with the 3MCubitron abrasives, I plan to try the belts next on my 2” x 48” belt sander.

I tried so many grinder wheels, wire brush wheels, cup brush wheels, etc. regular grinders would scratch the metal. Brush wheels take forever. Mill scale falls right off with this one.

Lasted for about 50 seconds before worn down to nothing, yep I timed it... Went back to standard wire, and flapy disk for rust/scale removal.
