> 3 dayI used the 3/8 plug cutter on cypress, which is a fairly soft wood. It left a good finish on the plug with no tearing which would have been a problem on soft wood had the tool not been sharp. I was unable to use the chamfering feature at the top of the tool, though, as the taper was too steep and if I cut too deeply with the tool the plug diameter would be too small for the hole I was plugging. All in all its a fine tool and should give me many years of service.

Greater than one weekCuts a perfect sized plug. Others I have used are all slightly oversized making insertion difficult.

> 3 dayAfter reading many poor reviews of other plug cutters, I decided to spend the extra few dollars for this one. Im glad I did, as it seems to do the job well. I cut a couple dozen plugs out of Butternut (havent cut anything hard with it yet), and I got pretty clean results. I gave it 4/5 stars only because it came covered in a black sooty coating, which was a bit of a mess. I know its to protect from rust or whatever while in storage, but an oil or wax coating would be nicer. Not a big deal.

Greater than one weekThe style of cutter basically sucks and I dont even think this is a very good example of this style of cutter. The geometry in the sharpening are all wack plus I dont even think the material is that good. On the other hand I need a grand total of eight plugs And Im not a professional woodworker so odds are that Im not going to be let down by this thing too badly. Because I dont plan on using a lot.

> 3 dayI would like it to cut a little longer plugs. But it does fine cutting 3/8” long plugs.

> 3 dayThe first thing I noticed was the finish was rough and did not have the matte or semi-glossy sheen of other plug cutters I have had in the past (and the one thats pictured). There were little bits of white gradoo stuck in the crevices like it had not been cleaned before packing. I wonder if a final step in the manufacturing process had been skipped. When I went to use it in my drill press, it seemed to need a lot of force to work into the wood. It also squealed and chattered. I honed the cutting edges which seemed to help a little, but sometimes it cuts well and sometimes it chatters like crazy., not sure why. Im considering throwing it out and trying something else, but it does work, just obnoxiously, so I guess Ill use it for now.

> 3 dayI returned another bit and replaced it with this one to cut some Cedar plugs. Works way better than the last one. Must be used in your drill press or with a drill guide.
