Snappy Tools Plug Cutter, 3/8

Although I am using it only in soft wood, this plug cutter quickly and easily cuts plugs. If used on wood of sufficient thickness, it will bevel one end of the plug, which makes for easier insertion in the hole. Note that it is properly used only in a drill press.

I used the 3/8 plug cutter on cypress, which is a fairly soft wood. It left a good finish on the plug with no tearing which would have been a problem on soft wood had the tool not been sharp. I was unable to use the chamfering feature at the top of the tool, though, as the taper was too steep and if I cut too deeply with the tool the plug diameter would be too small for the hole I was plugging. All in all its a fine tool and should give me many years of service.

It worked good it does waste a lot of wood. The size it cuts is dead on or at least it matched my bit perfectly or a bit tight. Im happy with it.

Not very sharp and will jump around. Even with a drill press, drill table and an oak wood block very tightly clamped down, it jumped and danced as soon as it entered the wood, creating inaccurately shaped plugs. Basically worthless for hard wood. Might try on softwood for next project, or I might just spend the 5 bucks and buy a pack of plugs online.

I returned another bit and replaced it with this one to cut some Cedar plugs. Works way better than the last one. Must be used in your drill press or with a drill guide.

Works great and love the 4 blades which gives you a faster and cleaner plug!

Have cut hundreds of plugs working on wooden boats. I would recommend to anyone that are looking for quality plug cutters and not want to spend a fortune.

Cuts a perfect sized plug. Others I have used are all slightly oversized making insertion difficult.

I bought this to cut mahogany plugs and all it did is burn the wood did not get one plug drilled - dont buy
