I folded back up the strands that are too long and tied them back with the twisty ties it came with. . . this gives the light a more asymmetrical look instead of an orderly look... more natural-looking. Tips: lay them on the floor the way youd like them before untying them, you cut only one of the ties, follow directions after hanging, re-adjust lights at night when you can better see where lights are shining use small, clear zip ties to hang use a timer - set time, plug lights, choose preferred mode for lights, next time timer turns back on, it will be on the last used mode I did not buy the lights with a remote because reviews say the light control needs to be visible for the remote to work . . . my power source is behind a curtain, so the remote wouldnt have worked. With the timer (I purchased separately), lights go on/off at the same time . . . easy peasey!
