> 3 dayWell what can I say its amazing so far. Does everything as advertised. Im not sure how protected the HDD is but it feels nice and sturdy. Im not willing to try and find out though. Its really nice to have 1tb of storage from western digital to backup all my data so when the cheap brand hard drive dies in my laptop I still have something to rely on. My laptop hard drive died about a week ago and sadly it was too far gone to create a new backup. but because of this hard drive I havent lost all of my progress from my drawings and can later go back to them

> 3 dayThis portable HDD drive worked exactly as we needed it to. Great for backing up a computer or transferring files. I bought a new computer and needed to transfer all my photos and documents from the old to the new, and this served the purpose perfectly. It will also be used to keep another computer backed up. Happy with it stationary storage, but I will be getting an SSD for portable storage because it is more durable and can handle being dropped better than this HDD drive will be able to. An SSD is also three times the cost for the same size, so this old-school drive, though slower, was worth it. And it wasnt slow, per se. I didnt feel like I was waiting around forever for it to finish. Just slower than an SSD would be.

> 3 dayThis is my first external USB portable drive and I do like it quite a bit. Its small, sleek, and very quiet. I dont even notice when the drive is active. The included USB cable is rather short so I purchased a 3 ft cable to give me more flexibility in terms of how I connect the drive and place it relative to my desktop. I reformatted the drive, effectively wiping out the included software, which I didnt really want or need. The drive activity light is on the same end as the USB connection, which seems backwards to me. It makes more sense to me to put the light on the opposite end. The only issue I had was upon initial installation of the drivers. The Western Digital SES Driver failed to install on Windows 7. Fortunately, a legacy driver is available for download from WDs web site. The driver is not required in order to use the drive, but if you dont install it youll always get a driver failure when you login. I did reinstall Windows 7 for various unrelated reasons and the SES Driver did install successfully after a clean Windows reinstall. So, I image if your Windows is clean and fully up to date you may not have any issues installing the SES Driver. Overall I think its a great drive. Im withholding one star though, because of the short cable and the issue installing the SES Driver.

Greater than one weekArrived just in time since my nine year old Seagate Free Agent suddenly died. Definitely an improvement with usb 3.0. Made an image backup using AEMOI software of a Windows 10, 320gb hdd in less than 20 minutes with another 10 minutes to verify. Really great stuff to own. However, caution is advised not to misplace your usb power/data cord since the device end appears to be proprietary. My older Seagate usb 2 power/data cord would not fit. Otherwise, exceptional product and I will probably buy another within the next several months. You can never ever have enough backups. Western Digital is the best.

> 3 dayI purchased the unit to expand the memory of my play station 4. all it took was plugging the unit in with the supplied cord and following some very simple steps to allow the ps4 to use an external memory. took 2 min tops. I am very happy with the results. I no longer have to delete games to make room for updates or new games.

> 3 dayIn my recent review of a Canon printer, I mentioned how easy it was to install. I also alluded to the fact that helpful product support is not always possible to get. I falsely assumed that the Passport would be relatively easy to set up, but remember Im a senior citizen with very limited technical knowledge. So you might guess by now that I had to call customer support to get the Passport to work properly. The person that helped me was fantastic. He took over my computer and download all the setup files that were needed in order for the device to work properly. He was extremely patient and helpful and had things working properly in about 15 minutes. So, theoretically, it should have been easy to get the Passport installed and working properly. I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do that without the help of the rep. Thanks Western Digital for having such helpful reps.

> 3 dayMy daily indispensable companion, my computer started giving me warnings that maybe my hard drive is about to fail. Ive already got my photos, music, videos and correspondence individually backed up, but the thought of having to re-install everything was daunting. I bought My Passport to image the whole drive. The price was certainly affordable and Amazons shipping got it here in a couple of days while I was still thinking about it. The bottom line is peace of mind.

12-06-2025Used this little guy to upgrade the storage on my ps4 slim. The days of juggling which games were downloaded are a thing of the past! It was really easy to set up, and after a couple weeks of heavy use, it’s shown no delays or any form of hiccup. I’ll update this if it fails randomly, but so far this has been one of my best purchases in a while. No regerts.

> 3 dayA little difficult to format in such a way that would accept both Linux files and windows files at the same time, but got it working without more than a couple hours of googling. Overall very fast and does what it needs to do. For those wondering, I used this to transfer files from a Linux computer (mint 18.3) to a Windows 10 one, and it worked after formatting it a certain way (I forget which way)
