> 24 hourWhen I work on someones computer and see they have a lot of family photos, I MAKE them get on of these. People who dont back up are insane. Ive had people come to me with nearly dead hard drives, telling me they have the only pictures of loved ones whove passed away stored on those drives. Ive been lucky to recover some, but when I cant get their photos back its depressing. I try to warn people, but..... These WD Passports are great. I size them at about 4x the space people are using in their system. I use Windows Back-up and also manually copy over the Users Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music and Desktop folders before I do any work on the systems. Just in case. People usually dont worry until its too late, but me knowing I got the important stuff backed up lets me breathe again.

> 24 hourI am not a person who knows a lot about computers so I cant tell you about the technical side of this. I bought it because I know my computer is old and is going and I dont want to loose all my pictures and other files when it does. This is my first time using one of these and I find it very easy to use from the day I received it. It comes with the USB cord so I had nothing extra I had to buy. I can now keep a copy of my files (adding the new ones periodically) in a safe spot and access them from another computer if I had to without bothering my children to come over to do it. I had no problems with it (no errors) and love the peace of mind that even when the computer stops working, I still have all my things.

> 24 hourIm a faithful Western Digital consumer. I have purchased this brand to replace internal desktop HDs, the My Book line for archiving and game console storage, and now this handy little unit for my new laptop. It is extremely light and quick. Unfortunately Im not techie enough to give speed ratings and such... only that the unit is fast and quiet. I am happy that the weight is light as I tote this in my laptop bag or purse daily. It weighs less than my portable trackball mouse, so thats helpful. I did purchase the OEM bumper protection accessory too when does help to grip this unit. Its smooth plastic body can be a challenge to hold on to. I highly recommend getting this accessory. All in all this is a great unit for a reasonable price. Not much higher in price on Amazon compared to other sites. The purchase experience, tracking, and easy returns is why I prefer shopping on Amazon.

> 24 hourThis compact, sturdy little external battery bank is perfect for those times when youre on the go and dont have reliable access to power outlets. It comes with its own carrying bag and includes a cable that does double duty re-charging the bank itself and charging your device. It takes about 3-1/2 hours to fully charge. Once you plug in your device, and turn the bank on, your device will start charging immediately. The adapter is small enough to store in the carrying bag along with the power bank and cable. I can carry it anywhere. This is indeed the best charger you could have for your gadgets. Its multiple compatibility feature comes very handy especially because I charge different devices with different brands, while being light and simple to figure out. You can also put it on your key ring and carry it that way. I really love the fact that it came with a carrying case. I received this product at a discounted price for my hones and unbiased review.

> 24 hourThis is a fantastic little external hard drive - literally plug and play. It is very small, not much bigger than a deck of cards and it does not need an external power source - just plug it in and you are good to go. I have bought many Western Digital external hard drives throughout the years and I have always been pleased with them. They all work great and never fail - at least none of mine have ever failed. This one is the smallest permutation yet and it is every bit as functional as any of the others I have ever purchased. I am amazed that such a small unit could function so well and have so much capacity. The choices of external hard drives are many and selecting one can be overwhelming. I recommend going with Western Digital. They are solid products and work perfectly for years on end. I have yet to have the first one fail on me. I cannot say the same thing for other brands but I wont mention those names. Stick with Western Digital - you cant go astray in that regard. For the record, Iomega was also very reliable but they no longer manufacture these items.

> 24 hourOverall it is good product. Failed after over 2 yrs (almost 3 yrs). During these years, I have to let windows repair it and re-format 3 time to re-use it. At the end, I download hard drive tools form wd site to test. The tool said it good, passed but can not performed the extended test. Bad tools.

> 24 hourFairly pleasant with this external hard drive! I brought the 1TB Black version. I was in need of more space and this makes my life much easier. A very huge plus for this drive was that it was super easy to set up. In 5 minutes of connecting, I could already load up storage into the drive and put it in use! Also, the WD software that comes with this drive instillation is also very useful. Scanning for my drive for errors is very helpful so kudos to WD for making a software like this! The one thing that I didnt like was that sometimes when I want to safely remove the hard drive, it would say it would be in use and cannot be removed. Everything would be closed yet this error would still pop up. Because of this reason, I had to give this drive 4 stars instead of 5. I actually dont mind this error because I can simply just shut off my laptop and remove it, but it can sometimes be annoying. TLDR; PROS: Easy to set up, great WD software to protect and backup your drive. Highly recommended. CONS: Sometimes cannot safely remove hard drive, have to shut down laptop in order to.

> 24 hourPros: Works with USB 2.0 and 3.0, which is what you would expect. But its hard to find that info here. So there you have it. Come pre-partitioned for NTFS, with loads of government spyware for windows. I wiped it out and partitioned for Ext4 to use it for Linux. Works when directly connected to my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B without a hub (once I modified /boot/config.txt and added max_usb_current=1). Cons: The only thing I can think of to complain about is the activity LED seems like it should be on the opposite end of the drive as the cable, but it isnt. Its also illuminated when there is no activity, but blinks off and on when there is activity. Its also quite bright when you look right at it, though it doesnt seem to illuminate a dark room in an annoying way. The LED is white. WD My Passport 1 TB vs WD Elements 1TB I had a hard time choosing between this WD My Passport and the

> 24 hourI use this drive to backup my laptop computer. I like the fact that it doesnt require a separate power cord, like some other external hard drives. I like the small form factor of this drive too. It is a similar size as a laptop computer hard drive. Also it supports USB 3.0 data transfer speeds, which is also nice, as USB 3.0 is more than ten times faster than USB 2.0. Of course USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, so it will work with any computers USB port, although its performance will be limited to the speed of the USB port that it is plugged into. Although it comes with software to encrypt the drive, I havent used it, so I cant vouch for the quality of that software. I encrypt my own files anyway, using other software. Some people use utilities like truecrypt, some people use password protected RAR files. Do whatever works best for you, if you want to encrypt something. As for the cloud storage software it comes with, that basically requires you to set up a drop box account, because that is what it really uses to store your date in the cloud. Thats kind of useless, you could just use drop box anyway, without needing to use this Western Digital software as a front end for it. Maybe it is useful for some people, but I dont find any use in doing things that way. So aside from my neutral comments about the software that this drive comes with, which I find to completely be unnecessary, I am just rating the hardware its self as 5 stars.

> 24 hourBack to the days of plug and pray I guess. Hooked this up to my PC running Windows Vista. Had trouble loading driver software (hung up). Left it plugged in and restarted my PC - Windows operating system hung up on black screen until I unplugged the drive. Apparently it Windows was trying to boot through the drive! If I attache it AFTER Windows has started, I can use it to store data, but must remove it after using and before shutting down - or else my PC hangs on the black screen again. Using their (WDs) website to correct this (apparently known) problem just caused more headaches. Would not recommend. Update 1/9/18 - Works just fine with my new Windows 10 PC. Upgraded to 4 stars.
