Price is right, and it does what its supposed to do...I suppose that is really all one can hope for, isnt it? That the item you purchased does what its supposed to do, and the price is fair.

An easy swap using hardware from the old drive - it slid into place and I plugged it in. Win 10 recognized it and worked immediately.

Like the wristwatch, disc drives are more of a fashion statement than a practical tool in 2017, but they do still have their uses. I trust Asus, so I was fairly confident in buying this. As expected, It worked well enough to install an OS and burn the occasional CD to iTunes, but thats about all that disc drives are good for nowadays... Personally, Id rather have one and not need it than need it and not have one, and for the price, it really was a no-brainer for me... Plus I had one 5 1/4 front bay that was looking a bit lonely... If youre looking for a cheap drive thatll get the job done, then youre not going to find one better for less.

When I originally built my system in August of 2013 I debated on putting a second drive in my system, I had a Pioneer bluray burner but knew that the majority of my projects would be burning CD and DVDs. I bought one of these and without trying to exaggerate probably burned close to 1,000 discs in the last year and a half (I work on computers for a living and do VHS to DVD transfers. Finally this thing gave out, it lasted through TONS of burns and is a fast drive. For the price, this thing was great and if this thing lasts another year and a half with how often I am punishing it I will gladly purchase another one when this one dies on me.

Does what a DVD burner should and is plenty fast. Bought to replace the LG my Cyberpower Rig came with, which died right after my warranty was up. 4 stars because Ive bought Asus burners at this price point before (built a few rigs for friends and family members over the last 5-6 years) and this one feels like its a bit lower build quality. This seems to be a thing too. Ive stopped buying certain brands because, as physical media popularity is dropping, the quality on the products to support whats left seems to also be dropping.

I like this dvd drive a lot but the only problem is it makes a noise when i start up my computer though i read that its normal. It reads and writes disks really fast and gives me no problems.
