As a professional house cleaner I’ve used countless carpet cleaners and tools, I have a white patterned rug in my own home that has been worn down by two dogs and my son. This carpet cleaner worked wonders, it not only worked well but did it quickly and efficiently. The tank is large enough to get through enough surface area so your not having to make a million trips. It is easy to keep clean as well. Overall I’m extremely happy with it would recommend it to anyone.

Before photo taken after vacuuming (but before shampooing) and After photo taken after two passes with the shampooer. The water is from the second pass. Thats right, the second. Not the first. Hot tip- make sure to move very, very slowly over the sprayed area so the machine can suck up as much nasty fluid as possible. This is the best purchase Ive made in a long time. Thank you!

I was genuinely shocked to see this simple carpet cleaner work so well in these times where everything is convoluted and turned upside down due to corporate greed. Regardless it is easily worth the money.

For over a decade now, I have run a company that supplies, trains, and services professional carpet cleaners, so I hope you will pardon me if I act like I know what Im talking about, lol. I have used everything from a Rug Doctor, all the way up through professional truck mounted machines. I have cleaned carpet and floors in trashed-out apartments, high end hotels, expensive lake houses, hospitals, and everything in between. Urine, vomit, blood, feces, coffee, Kool-aid, you name it and Ive cleaned it. No matter what equipment you use, the concept of getting soil out of a carpet is the same - use the proper type and amount of chemistry, proper heat level in the water, proper agitation to suspend soil, and proper removal of that water with the soil in it. Appropriate dwell time is also necessary for deeply embedded or chronic soiling issues. This machine is quite capable of producing all the proper elements when used correctly. I do, however, have a few recommendations on changes to the instructions given with the machine. First and foremost, use only half of the detergent that they tell you to. No matter how much soil is present, never ever use more than they suggest. I used only half and achieved fantastic results. I would imagine the full dose is only necessary for serious soil issues. Secondly, double up on the amount of dry strokes that you do, AKA passes that you make without pulling the trigger. Keep going over the carpet with the machine until you no longer see any water coming up through the window in the front. The carpet will still feel damp to the touch, but will be dry much more quickly this way. And last, do a freshwater rinse afterward with nothing but water in the clean hopper. NO detergent. You will see a tremendous amount of leftover detergent and soil residue coming up in the freshwater rinse (this step might seem like a pain, but you will be very glad you did it once you realize that otherwise, all of that residue would have been left behind in the carpet for you to walk on.) Follow up with the same double amount of dry strokes after the fresh rinse. No carpet cleaning machine, no matter how powerful, can remove years of soil build-up in just one use. Particularly if the soil has gotten down to the bottom of the carpet, where it is sewn or glued into its backing. Trying to soak the carpet and get all the way down there has the potential to destroy the carpets binding and destroy it. So dont bother. (NOTE BENE: This machine, or any other home machine for that matter, is not going to get pet urine out of the padding thats installed under the carpet, and soaking the carpet in an attempt to do so is only going to result in serious problems and microbial growth. Dont do it. Please.) The big difference between home cleaning and the professional truck mounted units is the amount of time its going to take to get the same result. You may have to use the machine multiple times, with a few days in between to let it dry completely, to get abused carpet to look and smell good again. And remember that soil and damage are two different things, so if your carpet is worn or abraded or has had its pile reversed by foot traffic, that is not something that can be cleaned away. It is damage, not dirt. So dont expect miracles. The brush on this machine is very good at fluffing the pile up and correcting crush damage, and it dug an amazing amount of pet hair out of our freize even after a thorough vacuuming. If you are willing to be patient, use the machine multiple times, and follow all of the advice Ive given, there is no reason you cannot get almost as good a result from this machine as you would from having a professional come do it for you. The difference is in the time its going to take, both in the cleaning and in running back and forth with the water hoppers. I still recommend hiring a professional for those serious yearly deep cleans, but if you have pets or small children in the house this machine is an excellent way to avoid add-on charges for chronic soil and serious restoration issues when you do have the professionals come in to service you.

I have a 3yo female doberman and have a large fenced in backyard that, since adding my girl to our family, has become a dust bowl. Worse, every time it rains, it becomes a mud bowl. Somehow, even wiping her down and washing her paws off when coming in from outside doesnt seem to help and dust and dirt had accumulated on our singular area rug to the point where I felt disgusting just existing in the same room as it. We have hardwoods throughout the rest of our home, so initially I was considering the smaller, spot-type cleaner also made by Bissel. I ultimately decided to purchase this one because the price was a bit cheaper and after reading some reviews I decided that it would be easier to clean a larger area with this one due to the vacuum style design. Off of my initial use, the pros: -super easy to assemble. My toxic trait is never reading instructions for anything, and this snaps together in under five minutes out of the box. -the device comes with a small sample bottle of the rug cleanser. Im not sure if using a different cleanser would destroy the device, but better safe than sorry. I had ordered a regular size bottle of the stuff but was pleasantly surprised to see it included. I used this for two cleans and still have like half a bottle -pretty great suction power -intuitive use. Like everything, theres a bit of a learning curve. Initially I couldnt find the lever that would allow the body of the device to angle like a normal vacuum (again, probably a non-issue if youre the type to read instructions). I found it within 2 minutes, and the thing worked like a dream after that -filling the clean water tank/emptying dirty water tank super easy and straightforward. Cons: -The device is made up of 2 tanks, one for clean water for the machine to use and the other for dirty water. The dirty water tank is actually very large, but the fill line is like 1/3 of the way down which is a bit visually deceiving. The suction power of the vacuum will be compromised if the tank is very close to full too, so you may find yourself emptying the tank multiple times during a cleaning depending on your area. -Leaves the rug a little bit wet after cleaning. Its hardly noticeable if you have socks on, but you will notice it on your bare feet. I suppose the wetness depends on how much you saturate the carpet when cleaning it Overall, super happy I purchased this. I was going nuts looking for a rug cleaner that would actually work and not break the bank and Im over the moon. Now I dont care how muddy my dog gets lol.

It definitely cleans the carpet very well. You do have to fill and empty often but wasnt a big deal. I would be great if it was easier to clean funk from the roller and everything but overall would recommend

I’m happy with this machine. It’s not heavy and it’s easy to use. It only took a minute to put it together. My only complaint is the reservoir is not larger enough for large jobs. Or, maybe I’m using too much water. It cleans well regardless

Amazing little machine. I have a rug doctor that I love. I use a couple times a year. I really needed something for the in between times for the main rooms. I was really amazed how well the Bissell 2987 cleaned and also extracted the water back up. Only took a couple of hours to dry. Would definitely would recommend and would buy again. For the price and performance a great machine. Another great feature is that it cleans up so easy.

This machine is much nicer than I the older model and works fantastic my large 7x 5 and my 8 x 10 and 3 x 9 runners. Great great does a good job cleaning and so much easier to clean the machine. To bad they moved the on/off switch but that is minor. Worth every penny.

This machine cleans! My old Hoover carpet cleaner died. Until I used this one I didnt realize how poorly the Hoover was cleaning. I think the carpets are cleaner than any time when I used the Hoover. I wish I had before and after photos. The cons are not really cons considering the price. Plus: lightweight, easy to maneuver, really cleans. The solution tank is marked for water level and solution level. Cons: small water tank, wastewater tank hold down clamps require some muscle, the plug on the wastewater is probably weakest link and you must hear click to know it is seated, and no extra tools. Remember this the baby brother of their lineup. Be prepared for lots of debris as this guy pulls up as it crosses the carpet. I keep the dust buster handy. This is best for small rooms. My 20 x 20 foot room required three tanks of solution. Their directions suggest you apply solution up and back. I also rinse with one run of plain water. For whatever reason they do not want you to use boiling water.
