I’m actually using these as a way to keep my small DIY enclosed trailer door closed. I’ve had things slide and put some weight on them and not had any issue. My only worry is if the adhesive is really good enough for lasting through the AZ heat of summer. Just to be safe I drilled two holes in each and secured by screw. Can’t say how much weight or pressure they hold but it’s pretty good. While not the intended use I think it shows that they wouild be totally solid used as intended. The weakest link is likely the locks themselves but if used on a fridge are more than sufficient.

At first I did not see the lock because it was so tiny. Then I found it. Very easy to install. I have a deep freezer outside that I store rainwater in. My insurance company told me that I had to take the top off. That was not an option. Health hazard, mosquitoes. So I bought and installed this lock. It was acceptable for them. I tried to pull it off because I thought I had installed it wrong. It would not budge whatsoever. Come to find out it was installed properly. I was locking it wrong....lol. Great price too!

The 3M adhesive definitely sticks after immediately applying, so place with care because you wont be able to reposition once its on. I used this for my front loading dryer and used the long arm on the door and short arm on side of the dryer for holes to properly align for locking. I waited a few minutes and then used all my strength to try prying it off and it did not unglue at all. Very pleased with purchase

I have special needs children. My oldest in particular keeps us busy with finding new ways to secure the house. We dont just child proof the house, we Emmy proof the house. Its an art form. Lately, Emmy has decided she loves to take things out of the cabinets and fridge and dumb them. It doesnt matter what -- salt, spices, flour, gallon of milk, pre-mixed chai tea, bottle of BBQ sauce, bottle of salad dressing, chocolate sauce...Whatever she can get her hands on, its down the sink. A regular safety first child safety lock did the trick on the spice cabinets because her fine motor skills are bad, but we didnt something more secure for the fridge. Like other reviewers, weve tried other fridge locks that just werent strong enough. One swift tug and they were broken. I read the reviews for this product, noted the happy special needs parents, and instantly hit buy. Im happy I did. The adhesive is very strong, it was easy to install, the padlock and keys are a nice secure touch. I specifically wanted a padlock/key option but it would be easy to replace with a small combo lock if you are worried about misplacing the keys. My daughter isnt happy she cant get into the fridge unless were there to supervise, but were happy. I would definitely recommend this product.

We just bought a freezer and we must keep it in a carport. We live in Washington state. It is cold. Temperatures today will be in the 50s for the high. The directions for installing say the ideal temperatures are between 70 to 100 degrees and ...the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily if you try it at lower temperatures. I am reluctant to try a hair dryer technique. It looks like a good lock, but not for us for a while. The temperature requirements should be in the prodect description.

I purchased this door lock as a last resort due to my children leaving my deep freeze door open enough to wipe out my entire deep freeze 2 different times now. My deep freeze is an upright and is located in the basement, so it is not typically caught open until it is too late. Unfortunately, my deep freeze did not come with a lock or an alarm on it. While searching for a door alarm on Amazon, I noticed many of them had iffy reviews because they were electronic. This was the best thing I could find that didnt need batteries, anything wireless, or anything that would really fail on this setup. I am very please with the product and the thorough instructions that came with it (even though installing this was a no-brainer). Currently I am using a padlock I had laying around, but will be switching over to a word lock so I do not have to keep up with a key when I just need to grab a frozen pizza for lunch. Installation was easy and took 2 mins, no tools required. I like that the white matches my freezer and the lock does not make it look like I am hiding dead bodies in there. I will probably ordering 1 or 2 more to lock the kids out of my basement fridge and freezer combo as well. Luckily, all of my other appliances have door and temperature alarms on them.

My cat decided to start jumping from the top of the fridge to the floor. On the way down, she would somehow knock the freezer open. So this was suggested to me. No more freezer door standing wide open. That is what I wanted and it works great.

So far so good. Followed install instructions and they are holding strong. Like that it came in white to match my fridge and the locks were included.

This is the most creative way to keep others out of my liquor cabinet. Specifically someone who isnt me when I am not around. Its a shame I had to install this in the first place but for all intended purposes the project is complete for what I have in my budget.

It feels so odd to lock food away from your child, but I was getting up in the morning and finding evidence that he was eating LOTS of sugar, etc in the night. (literally pouring milk and sugar in a glass to drink, so no, I cant just keep sugary treats out of the house) Pro tip - I first brought in a dorm refrigerator and labeled it for him. I told him that he could eat anything in that fridge at any time, and then only put in vegetables. :) On days when he is home for lunch, I also put a grain and protein item in there and he can eat it at any time he chooses. (a sandwich, a piece of pizza, a serving of a leftover). By doing this, the new refrigerator feels special to him and the locking up of the rest of the food a few weeks later was not so much of a punishment. I was also not going to deny a hungry person food, but made his free choice food that which has fewer calories. He does eat veggies well, so its not as though I gave him a choice of something he cant tolerate. He has a genetic deletion (16p11.2 micro-deletion) which predisposes him to obesity, but I am not going down without a fight. Hes lost six pounds in a month and is now merely overweight, instead of pushing the obese mark on the BMI charts. I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with an individual with a special need who just doesnt understand the relationship between food intake and weight gain/health.
