Corel Painter Essentials 5 Digital Art Suite for PC and Mac (Old Version)

Given a gift to daughter who loves to draw. This program has allowed her to expand to other type of artistic endeavors.

It sounded great from the get go but the controls are just sloppy and unresponsive. Wacom users beware because I tried it out using an Intuos and its very very bad control. Sure figuring out the buttons were no problem but the minute you accidentally click something your whole drawing settings are just messed up! Oh and the picture editing is just a stupid idea, I wish they put more effort into the actual painting settings and controls. Editing a picture leave that to another software or your average Iphone editing. Waste of time this software is.

My daughter likes it.

Tried this out to compare to Photoshop and for some people this is an acceptable product. However, being an illustrator for the past 25 years Ive grown attached to PS and something really must blow me away to switch and unfortunately this product isnt it even though its a fraction of the price.

Painter Essentials 5 simply refuses to launch, even after numerous reboots and reinstalls of the program. It sits in the running processes and eats up a hefty chunk of your processor (40% on average) but never actually DOES anything. Not even a splash screen appears. This is, hands-down, the worst piece of software Ive ever encountered - at least everything else RUNS. For those who are curious about my hardware, Im doing this on a Surface Pro 1 that has proven to be an incredible device for artistic endeavors. Painter failing to run is pretty disappointing.

Could not be more pleased. Really, wonderful

All the great features of Painter at a much lower cost. I love the things I can do in Painter that arent easily possible in other graphic/imaging software, and sometimes use it alone, and sometimes in conjunction with other programs. Essentials has all the features I need and not the ones I dont need.

Too complicated to set up and we got a virus with all the crap you have to download

PC-based graphic artists have been hit with two frustrations in recent years - Adobes heinous new pricing scheme, and Microsofts slightly less heinous reworking of MS Paint. I had high hopes that this program would help address the first issue. No such luck. But its an awesome Paint program.
