While the drive didnt include any M.2 mounting hardware like a screw and standoff, I was using this drive to upgrade my laptop that already had all the necessary mounts, screws and heat spreader. The top surface is covered by a sticker that DOES NOT conduct heat. If you use a heat spreader, REMOVE THE STICKER. Picked it up on sale for a very good price, and I am satisfied with my purchase. All 1TB was made available so I could have a boot drive and a game drive.

I got this to install into my Framework laptop DIY edition. Unfortunately it does not seem to be compatible, so I put Addlink S70 in its place. This SSD drops out when the Framework laptop resumes from sleep, causing the OS to crash. Long press of the power button brings it back. However this SSD works in my desktop as a game drive.

Easy to install, ordered wrong one at first ,( you need the nvme not the m.2 -The m.2 will have 2 notches, the nvme has only one notch )you can see the old 250 gb on right & just loosen 8 screws on bottom of laptop, pry apart the bottom from the case carefully like opening a clam :) you see the empty spot upper right where it goes. just a pocket screwdriver that you use for the bottom plate screws is the same as the single one for the harddrive they dont strip if you have a good one. I used a flathead pocket screw driver to pry apart the case & bottom. if you really wanted you could upgrade the ram for $50 but i think 8 gb is fine for home & small buisness use. Shopping, school, using our stores remote cameras, teamviewer ect this laptop is great & the only ones avail right now are the 250 GB ones so this is a great upgrade! Go into the bios, disable secure boot & made a bootable zip from microsoft & then installed linux mint for dual boot.

I purchased the SSD based on the claimed spec and performance. After fitting on a new i5 desktop system, I ran a few disk testing utilities and found that the claimed performance is way exaggerated. Its about 50-70% of the numbers claimed. I am not a gamer and dont need intensive I/O so, Ill move on. Next, I do need and use Encryption. The drive claims to have hardware encryption. I am an IT pro and do use managed FDE in the real world. This drive was for home but still, I use encryption. I tried to encrypt with a new install of Windows 10 pro (latest built). It would only encrypt using Bitlocker in software mode. In other words, not using the claimed hardware encryption. This is theoretically slower. I did about 4 hours research and called and chatted with Crucials tech support and found it to be useless. They refered me to documents I had already read and did not understand the issue. I tried 3 different calls and two chat sessions, aweful experience. I know that Windows 10 disabled hardware encryption by default a year or so ago but I also know the workarounds using GPO. Nothing worked, Bios was set for UEFI, and a lot of other settings and registry changes made. Result is not to use HW encryption on this hardware, Even if I got it working, I doubt its reliability and sustainability. For now, Ill keep the drive but will never buy Crucial products again.

Probably one of the easiest and fastest installs of any peripheral. I installed it and booted my PC with normal boot drive. Then used Windows 10 disk cloning software to just copy my current hard drive to the SSD. Once it was complete I rebooted, and I changed the boot disk to the news SSD and it worked flawlessly. I ran some benchmarks with crystal disk and its sequential read/write is just over 2,000 MB/s if I remember correctly. I’m very satisfied with everything especially considering its price.

Works well. Their site has a good version of Acronis software to transfer from the old drive.

This is a great SSD that tends to get overshadowed by other SSDs. Its easy to install into your pc, pretty much just plug and play. Its great for gaming as youll get better and faster load times, its also great for transferring and downloading files as youll be able to half the amount of time or possibly even more.

I ordered 1TB version of the SSD back in March 2021. I has been several months now, Ive been extensively using and sometimes utilizing every gigabyte of the SSD :D (of course I leave about 20% empty in order to get the best of it) I havent met any problems since I received it. I recommend to anyone who wants to buy but keeps thinking about disadvantages as I was back in March

I decided to build my own pc to use as a multimedia and product/software creator. After gathering all the necessary hardware I began to put it together as easy as snapping in a stick RAM The Crucial P5 was simple to install. Having bought my motherboard separate it came with a screw to tighten down this super sonic storage device. I noticed a humongous difference in not only boot time but over all use of my computer is flawless and smooth. Would highly recommend!

Very fast. Had some inconsistent performance at first. Read reviews about thermal throttling so I purchased one of the heat sinks with heat pipes and a PWM fan on it. Extremely fast and no issues anymore. DO yourself a favor and make sure you have good cooling and this thing will fly. It is nice not having to worry about space anymore.

Expand system performance with NVMe technology. The Crucial P5 SSD delivers powerful speed and data protection with sequential reads up to 3400MB/s, along with exceptional Crucial support. Advanced features like Dynamic Write Acceleration, full hardware-based encryption, and Adaptive Thermal Protection provide data security and enhanced system reliability. With thousands of validation hours, dozens of qualification tests, and a 5-year limited , the Crucial P5 SSD is backed by world-class Micron engineering and innovation.
