HGST/Hitachi (HUA723020ALA641) Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 64MB 7200RPM 3.5 (Enterprise Grade) SATA III 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Very noisy. Returned the first one because I thought it was defective, but the second one makes the exact same kind of loud grinding noises. Im hoping that the loud noises are not a reflection of the drive health

Two of these in RAID0 makes for a fast, reliable and fairly low cost 4 TB solution. Working well after a week. . . Ive used Hatachi drives for years happily.

Fast.

Fast. High capacity. Louder than other drives but I wanted capacity and integrity. Thus far it has been doing great as a data drive. My OS is on a SSD.

So obviously not a New drive. Bunch of amateur crooks. Avoid.

Drive arrived promptly from seller and was in well protected packaging. Chose this specific drive as it is a replacement for a failed system drive in a WHS v1 server. The original Windows Home Sever OS requires 512 byte sector drives as opposed to (most new) Advanced Format 4k sector drives. Drive is quiet, runs low temp; so far so good. Recommended.

If you are building on a budget, avoid these drives! It worked fine for about a month then failed. Luckily it lasted enough totransfer the data to a WD drive. Will never buy low cost, high capacity drives again! IF YOU WILL BE STORING IMPORTANT DATA ON A DRIVE, DONT GO CHEAP

Great drives, even if the 3000 series is a bit dated now. I have 12 of these drives in a RAID 6 array. Great performance, reliability and value for their class. Brad

prior to purchasing this, i was informed about studies done on internal harddrives used by many companies and through that, hitachi seems to be the gold standard for longevity or how long the drives lifespan is. many reviews though who have purchased from this line seem to have received old, used drives or completely be dead on arrival. i am very pleased with the drive and the seller. im also glad that despite a few 1 star ratings here and there, it did not dissuade me from making a purchase. the package came in excessive bubble wrap, that made the main package bulky. inside was another box with another layer of bubble wrap around the drive itself, and then the non-static packaging. i dont see how any of the drives delivered or shipped this way could be used or old, my drive seemed brand new. on the drive itself - i dont see why reviewers state its loud and excessive. its dead silent....does not make any noise or sound, and seems to run very cool. - the drive itself i believe winds itself down when not in use so in essence it isnt being read by the computer 24/7 which i believe contributes to its lifespan. but when you do attempt to access it, it does take a few seconds to load back up, which is logical. - the drive copies very quickly, i cant see for a need to have greater speeds than this. this is probably the most affordable / quality drive in the market. - the drive uses about 19 gigs out of its 2tb availability.

Drives checked upon receipt and are good. Now on shelf to replace other vendors drives in my RAID as they eventually fail. HGST drives have a good track record.
