Does it’s job but a bit of a pain to clean. I run it almost constantly during fall and winter. Needs a deep vinegar cleaning almost weekly even when using purified water. Otherwise no complaints.

First of all, I want to say, that I (and my plants) loved this unit, and it has worked fine the 3 months I have used it. However, I have found that this mist humidifier (and all mist humidifiers, I guess) goes through my house and leaves a fine mist of white dust on my furnace filter, which makes my furnace short cycle! I have never heard of this before, but I had a heating guy in my house yesterday (for an unrelated issue) and he was telling me about that, and of many customers who have this issue. I think distilled water would be the best, but Ive been using about 2 gallons a day, and am not going to buy that much distilled water! Now, I have to figure out what to do, to get humidity into my house! :(

I have a wood stove, so dry air is a challenge, and Ive had about 10 different humidifiers in the past several years, so Im something of an expert, I guess. Ive tried Vicks, Bionaire, Homedic, and some more expensive units. But Ive had this for almost a month now, and I think my search is finally over... this unit has the highest output of any of the steam or cool mist units Ive tried. Its really very good, in all aspects, and I havent had any of the issues others have mentioned... it simply works, its quiet, and cleaning isnt hard at all. The controls and the amount of precise control you have over the output is excellent, and the humidistat seems to be very accurate. When its out of water it stops every time, and when you refill you dont have to reset all your settings... it holds them until you manually turn the unit off. I also like how small it is, and its very easy to move it to wherever you want it. Refilling is easy, it has jsut the right amount of capacity so its not too heavy to refill (I think its 1.5 gal) and the directional spouts work very well. Ive been extra careful with the tank after reading of some other peoples problems with cracks, and its been fine so far. Of course, with a wood stove, you need a LOT of humidity replacement. This Levoit can raise the humidity about 5-10%, but bear in mind Im using this in a fairly large area, 800 sq ft, which is almost twice the recommended room size for this unit... so technically this unit shouldnt be big enough. But I just put it near our seating area and it makes a big difference... I was surprised at how much more humid the area feels. I tried it in the master bedroom and it blew the Vicks unit away, and got it to 50% pretty quickly. With the wood stove going, none of my steam humidifiers could even move my humidity needle 1%. And out of all the ones Ive tried, only my huge evaporitive whole house humidifier has more output than this one... but while that beast can raise my humidity about 15-20% only when on the highest setting, its such a pain to keep clean, you need to add chemicals which I dont feel is very safe, and its really loud... so loud we didnt use it much. I cant really think of any negatives at all... its really a great unit. I guess if I could get 2 for the price of one it would be better, but its eel worth the money IMO. BTW, my suggestion is to stay away from cool mist... in fact I will never get a cool mist unit again. Even using 100% pure H2O (distilled) from my reverse osmosis system, it still makes a white dust, and the chemicals I tried only reduced the amount of dust, but didnt eliminate it. Theyre also really hard to keep clean, and bacteria is a real problem. Plus, who wants to add chemicals to the air you breath? Check it out... I dont think youll be disappointed. EDIT: Ive had it almost 2 years now, and the heat element stopped working for the warm mist. Granted, I use it daily all winter long, but in this day and age a heat element should last years. I simply wrote to Levoit, explained the problem, verified my receipt and all that, and theyre sending me a new one. No hassles, no cost. Thats the way it should be... great company that stands behind their products! How rare these days.

We already have a smaller levoit humidifier but it kept running out of water within a single night or so, and we were still suffering low humidity in our home. We decided we needed another with a larger capacity and looked at this model. I had read reviews saying that this model might work too well in that it left puddles for some people near the machine. I can understand how this could happen as it does spout a HUGE amount of mist that arcs out similar to a water fountain. However this has never happened to us. We keep our humidity at around 40-50. We positioned ours in the bedroom on top of one of those IKEA Lack tables. The mist will spout up and out of the humidifier and easily reaches the ground (visually seems to “touch” the ground). Table is about 17-18 inches tall plus the height of the humidifier, so that hopefully gives an idea of the density of mist that I’m talking about. The reason I mentioned it being confusing is that we have a hydrometer right next to it, but if we set the humidifier to say 40, I have seen the humidifier not go off even though the hydrometer indicates a lower number than 40. I’ve seen it as low as 10 points lower than what the hydrometer claims the humidity to be despite being right next to the humidifier. So I’m not sure what is accurate or inaccurate - the humidifier or the hydrometer. Another thing that’s annoying is that whatever is detecting water in the tank can be finicky. I don’t know if we just have something slightly defective, but the first time we set it up to use, it indicated no water in the tank despite there being enough water. Our work around is that we have to jiggle or lift the tank up and down a few times, causing the air to get into the water tank (you’ll see big air bubbles rise up). Eventually it fixes the issue and it detects the water, but it can be annoying. Design wise, I dislike that you have to flip the tank to fill it with water and then put it back. It’s similar to a water cooler’s design and it just feels a little nerve racking to flip the tank back onto the base in my carpeted bedroom. I think despite all these issues, the humidifier works well and also holds a ton of water. We were previously having dry and cracked skin issues and now we no longer have that happening. We actually haven’t cleaned it yet even though we’ve had it for awhile, but it doesn’t seem like there is any build up yet. We use only distilled water and we use it frequently. Overall if you need a larger tank humidifier, this will do the job. I would suggest getting it on sale though as we did.

I’ve been using this humidifier 24/7 for three years without a hitch. I live in a very dry environment and was always getting shocked whenever I touched anything. Once I got this humidifier, that stopped. My living area is 2500 square feet and this humidifier has no problem with the size of the home. If this thing ever breaks down, I’ll be replacing it with another Levoit humidifier product. Highly recommend.

I really like the humidifier. It is the first ultrasonic model I have ever purchased. Moisture output is great, easy to operate, easy to clean, and it is quite. Only thing is I cannot use it and neither could anyone else who lives in an area with hard water. You would need to fill it with distilled or purified water for use. This would make the cost of running the darn thing impractical due to the cost. If you have hard water it will deposit a fine white powdery just over everything in its path. My furnace shut due to low air flow. The particles from the humidifier had clogged the furnace filter. I thought no big deal maybe the filter was pass due (now I write the date on the end of the filter to let me know the last time it was changed) and replaced the filter only for the same thing to happen within two weeks. I am very disappointed to purchase this rather pricey item only for it to be useless for what I intended it for. I gave it a higher rating because it is good quality product. But by design is not something I can use.

We liked this so much, we got 2. One for each of my kids’ bedroom. Holds enough water so that we don’t have to change it every night.

These are so good, I had to purchase another one. I now have four. Been using the other three for 2 plus years and absolutely no issues.

I use this humidifier to keep my plants happy and it seems to be working. If you want to hear it, you have to put your ear right next to the motor and stop breathing. The display agrees with a digital hygrometer I bought separately, so its at least that accurate. Ive had other cheap humidifiers from the pharmacy that are garbage next to this one. If you love your houseplants, its worth the price. After a month, I finally got the app that you will need if you want the humidity to be above 60. The app is meant to control all manner of devices you may or may not have (which I dont), so it is a bit annoying, but thats just old Luddite me. I have been filling it with tap water even though purified or distilled water is recommended, but who is going to do that unless they have access to a huge reservoir of purified water? People that only use it when they are sick? I guess I could lug some reverse osmosis water home from the lab, but no. I havent yet noticed any lime deposits on my walls. What I have noticed is an increase in tiny flies in my apartment. I find them floating in the reservoir of the humidifier, so Im pretty sure theyre attracted to the humidity. I dont know how to deal with them yet. I clean it once a week and refill it in between cleanings. And though I havent changed any filter parts yet, I definitely recommend this humidifier despite the app and the flies. It is the best humidifier Ive ever had.

Pros- awesome unit, mostly quiet, nice capacity. Cons- not suitable for elderly, as you got to toss a full 6l plastic vat like a pizza to reinstall after filling. Also, where the cutout is for the steam pointer, and handle, there are two 90 degree angles of plastic which could have been rounded for safer operation when handling while filling.. Sides that, it is keeking ass and taking names in my apt, love it. PLants love it.
