This is an absolute beauty of a MoraKniv. I own several other Moras to include a couple Companion MGs and the hefty HQ Robust. This new Heavy duty companion is my new favorite. I didnt care much for the grey handle and sheath of the Robust but I wanted a thicker bladed Mora. Enter this new companion in Military Green(MG). It has a great handle, scary sharp carbon steel blade right out of the box. I like the sheath its simple and it works well, I have never had a problem with them. The blade is nice and thick but one of the things I noticed that was different then other carbon steel Moras is the spine is smooth finished. This is a really nice touch that also sets this new Mora apart, typically every carbon bladed Mora has a rough unfinished spine, and the stainless steel ones have smooth finished spines. This is a great buy and at a great price. Prompt service from the Harry J Epstein CO. (second purchase from them).

Ive had this knife on my side for 4 years now, and its seen some heavy use, but it has never failed me! Worth every penny! All I did was touch up the scandi grind from the manufacturer and its been a real nice knife.

Super sharp and well worth the price. I bought it to skin animals that I hunt.

Solid, comfortable, cool, sharp, straight, well ground, solid& thick. I got the carbon steel blade to use with my ferro rod. The back spine of this blade has a nice smooth rounded edge though, so i batoned it into the side of a 2x6 board with just the edge of the spine sticking out. Starting at about an inch from the handle (i left room for a nice thumbhold) i ran a file across the back to leave a squared off edge that will work well with the ferro rod. The board it was sunk into kept the blade still and the file level. I plan to arrach a piece of bamboo to the side of the sheath to hold the ferro rod. I think its a pretty good quality set-up for the price.

This was my first of three mora knives. I passed on mora for years thinking you cant get a decent knife that cheap. The if it to good to be true idea is wrong on this. Its high carbon so if you know what your getting u will love it. If not your getting an extremely sharp knife that is the easiest to resharpen. Only drawback is they are prone to rust. But that wasnt all bad. U can oil it often and keep it shiny. Or u can embrace it and have fun with a patina. I had a blast going for the right look. Mine looks a bit old but bold. Perfect

This is a great knife, and Ill tell you why. Nothing fancy here, just a great knife with a quality, high carbon steel blade, rubberized handle, and a very adequate plastic sheath. Comes razor sharp, and wow, only $16????? Im in love with Mora knives. Theyre awesome. I will defiantly buy more of these.

I am new to Mora knives. I didnt like this one mainly because the handle it is little more bulky and overall more weight compared to the normal version. The main point of these that I am getting is their strengh compared to their weight. I figure I would go with an entire different brand of heavy duty knives for that purpose.

SHARP! Factory blade is super sharp, shaved my arm hair without even trying! I am glad i got this Heavy Duty version of this knife, i feel completely fine with hitting the back on the blade with a thicker branch to use as a hammer for it. The handle has a nice grippy rubber texture which I feel very safe holding, Im not worried at all of it slipping out of my hands, with or without gloves. the sheathe is all plastic, holds the knife very nicely, you can feel a slight click when putting the knife back in the sheathe. Havent tried yet, but I wonder the strength of the belt clip being that it is all plastic. I dont know how much it would flex before breaking, if it were to get stuck on anything while moving around in the woods. This knife is going in my Bug out Bag, but I will also use it anytime I want a very sharp, sturdy knife! Awesome Knife indeed.

The Mora Companion Heavy Duty is a powerful tool for bushcrafters, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Suitable for batoning, the Companion Heavy Duty features a thick, 1/8-inch (3.2mm) carbon steel blade with a slightly blunter 27 Degree edge angle for high load capacity and maximum sharpness resistance. The Companion HD has an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft high-friction grip. The classic scandi grind combined with high quality carbon steel makes the knife easy to resharpen. Mora knives made from high carbon steel achieve high hardness, sharpen easily and are exceptionally tough. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and more durably acute edge. Mora Knives are made from high-quality carbon steel. The carbon knife steels are characterized by ultra-fine carbides that result in superb forging and hardening properties. The absence of large carbide deposits promotes excellent edge sharpness for optimum cutting performance. Morakniv has been manufacturing the highest-quality knives in Mora, Sweden since 1891. Professionals worldwide trust the quality materials and fine craftsmanship of Mora Knives. Mora knives feature ergonomically-designed handles and employ premium-quality knife steel that is optimally adapted to the task for which the knife is intended.
