I found this game to be quite entertaining. One because its a new vast world in 3D and two because it didnt feel as linear as B&W versions. Plus with the addition of the mega evolution, it allows you to win battles with ease. And the fact you get a second chance of choosing a starter from generation one. My only concern was the idea of exp share among all Pokémon in your party. Sure its nice to level up your party faster but it does detract from what the older games set up. And the other thing is that you are given some free handouts of strong/ legendary Pokémon. But overall definitely a great game, with great new Pokémon for an fun adventure that will last for hours.

Bought this game for my daughter and when she put it in her 3ds error pops up. After research its because people powersave. Places like gamestop actually check what you try to sell them, apparently this seller does not.

It was back in 1999 that I first learned of the Pokémon series; obtaining my first card, watching the first few episodes, and even convincing my mother and father to buy me a GameBoy with Pokémon Red. I was addicted. I bought booster packs like a chain smoker buys cigarets, and I woke up early just to catch the 4Kids showing of Pokémon while woofing down boxes of Captain Crunch. I joined a local comics store with its semi-weekly Pokémon league, and by that time I had dove so far down into the debts of Pokémon, there was never a time I didnt have something Pokémon related on me. Pokémon Yellow, Hey You, Pikachu!, Pokémon Stadium, Pokemon Gold, and Pokémon Crystal were all in my repertoire. However I lost interest in Pokémon by 2001 having discovered Yu-Gi-Oh!, selling all my Pokémon possessions to purchase cards for that game. In 2008 I was living with my aunt and cousins, starting my first semester in college. For that years birthday, my cousin Bethany and her boyfriend at the time bought me a DS Lite and a copy of Pokémon Platinum. I got into it, but not nearly to the degree I once was; being more interested in Ragnarok Online at the time. Finally, in February of this year I got the Pokémon itch from watching the Game Grumps play Pokémon Fire Red. So I bought a brand new 3DS and a copy of Pokémon Y, since I was pretty excited for a Pokémon game with 3D graphics instead of the standard sprites. And to be honest, my excitement, was warranted. If youve ever played a Pokémon game, then you know how they all start up. You dont have any Pokémon, then you are given a selection of three Pokémon, and you begin your journey across the land to level up your Pokémon and battle trainers and gym leaders. Pretty much what happens in this one too, except instead of meeting with the Pokémon Professor of this region, you are given your first Pokémon by a group of friends. I went with Fennekin, and kept reloading until I got a female. I also noticed that the typical rival who challenges you right after obtaining your first Pokémon, was replaced by a much closer friend who never comes off as a rival. In my case it was Serena, who felt more like a good friend then anything else. Once I was on my own I got help from some friends online getting the team I wanted, via eggs, because as I learned, the Pokémon I wanted to form a team with didnt exist in this game or were hard to come by. Specifically my first team, which I used throughout the entire game, consisted of all females. Yes I know, Im weird. To be even more specific, this team held a Fennekin (because Delphox), a Petilil (because Lilligant), a Ralts (because Gardevoir), a Snorunt (because Froslass), a Feebas (because Milotic), and a Buneary (because Lopunny). Yes, I know, Im weird. The very friends who were giving me the eggs told me this, but if I was going to be feeding and petting 3D Pokémon, they were going to be attractive dammit! *ahem* In any case, as I played the game I noticed that the story seems much darker then any previous title. A war using Pokémon where they and people died, a king so obsessed with his Pokémon he sacrificed the lives of many Pokémon to resurrect her, the story about the Hex Ghost Girl, and some of the things trainers would say to you as you defeated them. Everything seemed so much darker. In fact, even after I beat the game it continued to go this route, when you meet the homeless girl named Emma. While I was partially shocked by some of the darkness, I was also very intrigued! I wanted a more mature gaming experience, but I did not expect it to come from a Pokémon game. I have heard some people say this is one of the worst stories in the Pokémon series, but I disagree, its one of the best! Heck, one of those friends you first meet up with is almost akin to a romantic partner. I of course am speaking of Shauna, who shares a very romantic scene where both your character and her enjoy a fireworks show. She says how shell never forget that moment, and soon after you receive the TM 17 which contains Protect. Coincidence? I think not. Game play wise not much has changed. You still battle it out in turn based fashion, however the number of Pokémon that can be out on the field at once has increased; with some random encounters facing you off against hordes of Pokémon. The game does feel a bit easier then any of the previous titles Ive played, as I was able to breeze through most battles, including the elite four and their champion. However, the Battle Mansion super battles can go to hell. There is the new Mega Evolution, which allows your Pokémon to level up to a new evolved form during battle. I never really saw a difference in strength during Mega Evolutions, but I still used the mechanic because a Mega Evolved Gardevoir is pretty. There is also the Super Training and Pokémon-Amie. With Super Training, you can level up a Pokémons certain stat. This is done by playing a game like soccer, using the soccer balls to attack a balloon of a Pokémon that is firing soccer balls back at you. Pokémon-Amie is where you can increase the friendliness of your Pokémon, by feeding them Poké Puffs, petting them, playing mini games with them, and imitating them via your DSs camera. A very friendly Pokémon can have bonuses in the campaign portion of the game, like avoiding fainting, dodging attacks, or even scoring critical hits. I will say that the places some of my Pokémon liked to be touched were a tad bit questionable, like my Lopunny with her lower, lower, lower spot. In the end I beat the game and sedated my craving, I even suspect that I will not be buying the next title, at least until I get that itch again. The 3D graphics seriously brought the Pokémon series out of the past and into the present, 2D and sprites are so last year. The more mature feel really did it for me, and the way they play everything off wouldnt really click with a child, so its still family friendly. The choices in Pokémon are decent, although Im not in love with them dropping so many of the past generations. All in all its an improvement upon the Pokémon franchise, and I can only hope to see even more attractive evolutions in the later games. Oh, and just a quick question to all the fellow Pokémon gamers out there. Is it just me, or did the female gym leaders and elite four all seem to have a thing for our character? I swear, Malva, Korrina, Valerie, and Olympia all seemed to say things that made it seem like they wanted to take my Calem and battle it out in the bedroom. If you get my drift. Pokémon Y gets an 8.2 out of 10

This game is great as a nostalgia piece and on its own merits. The addition of Mega Evolutions and the Fairy type has changed the game for the better. Game Freaks didnt go overboard with new Pokemon, instead sprinkling them in and filling in the rest of the roster with great monsters from previous generations. This allows returning players a sense of newness and familiarity. The new battle sequences are also a much needed improvement over the basic sprite based battles from the past. The only two issues I really had with the game are with the difficulty and the online trading system. 1) Very early in the game the player receives an item that gives every Pokemon on the team half of the experience for the fight, even if they didnt participate. In the past it would only give one monster the bonus. While you can turn it on and off, leaving it on leads to your Pokemon being leaps and bounds ahead of any enemy you face. Another issue with difficulty is that the player rarely runs into other trainers with more than 2-3 Pokemon in their team. This makes battles quick and a little too easy. 2) The Global Trading System (GTS) is a little hit or miss. If you search for a Pokemon you want and then after that search put in a filter like only show trades where I own what they requested the trade will fail and take you back to the main screen of the 3DS or it will just say that the Pokemon has already been traded. This lead to frustration until I came across the issue while searching online. Those 2 issues are why I could not give the game a 5, but the game is a great improvement over previous games and would be good for any Pokemon players collection.

This game is honestly so much fun. Ive loved Pokemon my whole life and theres so many new features in this game that make Pokemon not as monotonous and boring. I would suggest choosing the female character if youre interested in character customization, regardless of your own gender. She has tons of clothing options while the male characters options are pretty boring and theres a 1/3 of the amount of items. Only thing I wish you could do was change hair color to something unnatural like blue or purple or red.

This game is definitely one of my favorites in the franchise, not only because of its new 3D visuals and new features, but also because it made me a fan of the series again like I was many years ago. This game did a lot right, with its new 3D gameplay, brilliant music and songs, and even great online capabilities. Its the kind of game that will take up probably a hundred or more hours of your life if you are a long time Pokemon fan. There is so much to do in this game, even after you beat the main story. You can do battles online against people, do online trades, and even get your Pokemon from past games to it using the Pokemon Bank application available in the Nintendo eShop. Pokemon X/Y is a must if you have a 3DS, and dont think its just for kids, its for all ages.

Shipped very quickly from seller, cart was in good condition. The game is pretty fun to play, I like the setting and the graphics for sure. Did not like the roller skates and camera changes in some cities! I would recommend it to any Pokemon fan or potential Pokemon fan.

I love pokemon games, but this is one of the weakest Ive played. Its still very fun! But the new graphics do not make up for the lackluster length and depth. The game feels short and the new EXP share is really a cheap way of playing, and its availability really does make the game feel much shorter. Overall, the amount of monsters is good, graphics great, gameplay standard but shorter and overall a B grade pokemon game. Also the paris map really, really, really, really sucks.

This game is awesome. I havent played a pokemon game since silver pokemon games have essentially been the same since then but this one just changes all that. Pokemon battles are alot nicer now the graphics finally graduated to 3d models instead of 2d pictures making noises. Im glad I bought this along with my new 3DS XL (zelda edition). The core game is still there but finally got the much needed visual polish if youre an old fan of the series you may want to come back as the old starter pokemon are in this and have a new mega evolution which is really awesome breathes new life into old classics.

This was the first game I bought for my 3DS. I bought it last autumn as a treat for myself after passing my psychology midterm. I play this game the most out of my small game collection because after awhile, it gets a bit addicting. Because of the fast-paced storyline, the adorable (and bizzare) pokemon you can play with, and the amazing multiplayer compatibility, I can say with full confidence that this game rocks. Id recommenced this as a game for beginning to intermediate gamers, also for those who want to get into Pokemon but dont know where to start. The story is fun, but after you get the basic formulas down (fire beats grass, water beats fire, electricity beats water, etc.), battling isnt too terribly hard unless youre playing against a live opponent. Ive gotten to the point where I can play this before bed and continue to win even though Im too tired to keep my eyes open. However, because your pokemon can only learn 4 moves at a time (with limited times you can use each move), there is some basic strategy required, especially during the moments where you fight difficult bosses or other live players. And while the gameplay isnt that hard, its easy to get sucked into the mechanics of it all because each pokemon has specific trademark moves that makes for interesting battles. Unlike other pokemon games, you can actually interact, feed and play three different minigames (and a glitchy hidden minigame that uses your facial expressions as a playing piece) with your pokemon using the Pokemon-Amie feature. This allows you to feel close with the pokemon on your team. There is a lot of free-roaming allowed, and I have yet to discover all the hidden puzzles and treats left after beating the games story. One thing I want to mention though is that I dont see why the games so inconsistent with its 3D-capabilities. The majority of the game doesnt use the 3D option, but as soon as a battle starts or you enter a cave, you can use it. Also, there is an option for you as a player to customize your character. However, until you do a lot of side-questing in Luminose City, you wont be able to change your appearance, and even then theres a limited pallet. Still, you can buy outfits from each city you visit, so you can change clothes pretty early on. Overall, the games pretty fun and holds for nice challenges. Excuse me, for now I must be off. Gotta catch em all!
